This is what I do when I'm not with all of you healthy freaks 😀... This year was a hard year dealing with my skin problems, this was even a tuff video to make. There were many speaking engagements that I didn't take because of it... The journey is tough but you just gotta suck it up and go through it. 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 @Regran_ed from @twbright_official - Sneak peek from the commercial we did for #brightandthebully ... #kidslit#childrensbooks#jesuschrist#bibleverse#diversitymatters#diversity
A fun and silly #bookfacefriday This is harder than it looks people. Give me a 20 person bridal party, no problem - but trying to make a book really look like someone's head - I am a little bit challenged. Maybe I am just trying too hard. ⠀
The Way I Feel, by Janan Cain, is a wonderful book that touches on all the different emotions that little ones feel. It helps spark discussions about why we feel the way we do, how we can manage our feelings and ultimately how we can change our feelings if they are unfavorable. ⠀

A simple and powerful book. There are some fantastic examples of age appropriate conversations about consent. I appreciate how Finn’s parents support him in navigating these conversations and open up avenues for him to make his own choices. I also love the discussion questions at the end, there are questions for older kids and questions for parents, family, and caretakers. A very valuable introduction or refresher on the values of expressing boundaries and being respectful of others’ boundaries. #cisforconsent#eleanormorrison#fayeorlove
Saturday morning, ten days away from Christmas. Children linger in bed as the long holidays stretch out before us, filled with the promises of days spent in pyjamas, museum trips, movies, boardgames and living by the sea, salty hair and sun kissed skin, tiny crabs nibbling our toes, sounds of the magpies calling us. Christmas foods begin to fill the cupboards. Baking begins. The smallest child, teetering on the edge of believing, still awaits a mythical arrival on Christmas morning. And the love between us all fills every corner of the house 💖⭐💖 #helenedwardswrites#agentlelife#christmas2018
The Review! Slightly late but worth the wait. So on our first reading on Wednesday night Richie enjoyed this book SO MUCH he asked me to read it again. Not that unusual but after the second reading he asked for me to read it again. Never has he asked me to read a book for the third time in a row at bedtime. To fully give my ultimate seal of approval I took this wonderfully wacky wee book to nursery. I got another member of staff to read it & when I approached the children at the end of the story they couldn't wait to tell me what the old lady had swallowed. But to be fair it is pretty outrageous! She swallows Santa & his Reindeer & fairy lights let alone the star! A fantastically funny, you could say brilliantly bizarre Christmas read! Not sure if you can buy it in the UK as it was sent from NZ & an Aussie publication but it is a belter & if you get the chance, grab it with both hands! #therewasanoldladywhoswallowedastar#nowthatsbizarre#scholasticau#hilarious#hattrick#kidslovedit#raisingreaders#raisingboys#bedtimereadsforweeones_#kidslit#picturebook#kidsbooksofinsta#readallaboutit#winner#ownit#grabit
Amazing to see the first Sweetbriars book, my first book ☺️, reach 50 Goodreads reviews today and maintain a good star rating 🙏🏻🙌🥂Even better is to read reviews from young readers, like Caitlyn's: "I really enjoyed reading this book. My favourite character is Cate because we have a pony and a horse at my house and I really like her personality. I also liked this book because there is a glossary at the back of the book. I think that is a great idea for a horse book, because some words were unfamiliar to me. I love the cover of the book as well. I really hope there will be a second book in this series because I loved the first one."
On December 24, 1914, on the Western Front of World War I, the faint sound of “Stille Nacht” rose from the German trenches. When the German soldiers finished singing, their foes broke out in cheers and replied with an English carol. When dawn broke on Christmas morning, men from both sides laid down their weapons and emerged from the trenches to share food, carols, and games. In a world that is so divisive, my prayer this Christmas season is that we too can set aside our differences to come together in the spirit of love and friendship.
🎄Part 2 is now available!🎄Link in the bio. "Ornament Enlightenment" is a children's story about a boy who learns the true meaning of Christmas from a pretty unexpected source: the ornaments on his Christmas tree. They have a lot to teach him and he has a lot to learn. 🎄. I'm SO HAPPY with the feedback on this story so far. I received emails this week saying: 👍"Brilliant!" 👍"Beautiful story." 👍"Awesome!" 👍"I can't wait to read the rest." 🎄
But I have admit, listening to my own daughters respond was the best. They loved it. One of them REALLY like the part when the dad yells at his son. I'm not sure what that says about me as HER dad, but I'm glad she laughed. Seriously, though, they have had amazing ideas for lessons from ornaments. I hope parents and teachers using this story will have that conversation with their kids:
What do the ornaments on your Christmas tree have to teach us about Christmas? 🎄
The story (book?) is finished and Part 3 will be published next Friday! 🎄
Happy Advent! 🎄
It's Friday - woo hoo!!! I've been posting here for just about a month. It's been so fun virtually meeting and discovering so many amazing mamas. Grateful that I've been welcomed so warmly into this amazing community full of books, reading, teaching and love! ⠀
Here are some wonderful feeds to check out! ⠀
What are some of your favorite accounts that inspire you - let me know in the comments!⠀
I’m not quite sure where we went right, but her mad obsession with books has me FEELING ALL THE FEELS. The way she waddles up to me with her favourite books (choosing them well over any toy in the house) and climbs on to my lap for me to read them to her (sometimes 50+ times a day) makes me happier than I thought was humanly possible. We have a #littleladylibrary in the making... ohhh new account idea?! Would you be interested in that? Maybe a Friday feature on this account? Comment below!
Thank You @sesamestreet for addressing the issues that many children face and/or witness everyday!!! Issues that can be hard and even uncomfortable for parents, caregivers, and educators to discuss with young children.
The other night walking downtown we passed by people sitting and sleeping on the sidewalks with blankets and their belongings. Lulu asked me why they were there and I reminded her that some people do not have homes to go to every night. After pondering this she asked me if I thought they were sad, (Yes...Some of them may be), if they were cold, (Yes...It does get cold at night) and why couldn't people just help them by opening up their doors and letting them into their homes. (Some people do, but if only it was this simple Lulu!)😔
We will continue our discussion on homelessness through children's literature and great shows such as Sesame Street!

Lily, a fuchsia #Muppet with a mop of hair, green eyelids and a lavender nose, debuted on @sesamestreet 7 years ago. Shy and soft-spoken, she explained to #Elmo that her family did not have enough to eat. Now, Lily will reappear for the first time, as someone who is homeless. Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit that produces #SesameStreet , realized that the issue — 2.5 million children nationally are homeless — needed attention, said Jeanette Betancourt, senior vice president for U.S. Social Impact at Sesame Workshop. In New York City, where Sesame Street is set, one out of every 10 students was homeless during the past school year. On Sesame Street, “homeless” is never uttered because of the stigma surrounding the word; on the show, “H” stands for hope, help, healing and home. @jonahmarkowitz took this photo of Lily and the puppeteer Leslie Carrara-Ruolph on set in Queens, New York.

"As she got closer Halley noticed Ms. Mac's tree was covered with lights that bubbled, and beautiful white crystal snowflakes hung on the branches. Ms. Mac looked at her warmly, "Sometimes it takes a long time for a friendships to form, and one slight bump will cause them to form a bit differently, just like these crystals. But in the end, they still make a beautiful structure to behold...." - Halley Harper, Science Girl Extraordinaire: The Friendship Experiment #bookquote
