#funnymeme#Repost @miz_geishaa so true 😂 how do you eat your mangoes? I admit I’m the amateur - sometimes it is too sour for me to eat all the way to the core! #Mangoes are great for healing the #thyroid and to help with sleeping - talk about a natural source to help you #sleep and it really works, we do this to fall asleep at night and stay asleep. You can use dried, fresh or frozen. It all works as I have experimented and tried all 3 to help with our #painsomnia . So if you are a #painsomniac like so many of us #chronicillnesswarriors (I was 🙋🏻♀️ for 2.5 years and my hubby after his surgeries) mangoes will help you in your healing. It is also an amazing #anticancer food and can prevent breast, lung, colon, prostate, blood and oral #cancers . They also help preventing and healing #strokes , #heartdisease , #arthritis , #cognitivedisorders , #respiratorydiseases , and #kidneydisease . They do so much and you can read all about it in #medicalmedium#lifechangingfoods book as I don’t have the luxury to write out long posts. May I ask all of you, if you would please pray for my Dear friend @miz_geishaa she is having a major set back in her healing with her hyperthyroidism and not doing well at all. She is also an insanely private person so the fact that she is asking for this help means it’s really really bad. I’m channeling healing to her and I’m asking if any of you kind generous souls can add her to your prayer lists, please? May God bring you many blessings for your kindness. Thank you for all you do and your kind generous hearts, Dears. Sending love light and healing always 💛🌟👼💙👼💚👼💗👼💟👼❤️👼💖👼💜👼🧡👼💎👼💛🙏🌈🕊🌌🤗😘

These 2 recipes are the easiest ever! I’ll share with you if you leave me some love with an emoji in the comments ❤️
You may have one or more of the warning signs or you may have no signs at all. The only way to know absolutely is a blood test and/or urine test so talk to your health care provider about getting checked.
Gimme aaaaall the potatoes! 🥔🍠😋 I’m getting in the Thanksgiving spirit by baking up my potatoes as fries. Gotta use up the potatoes I have so I can go buy more for later this week 💁♀️ Often times, those with later stage kidney disease need to limit their potassium. And potatoes are frequently the culprit of high potassium.
Comparing sweet potatoes to russet/baking potatoes, a Russet potato has ❗️620 ❗️milligrams potassium. This is higher compared to sweet potato, which has ❗️506❗️ milligrams of potassium. (Curious about how big these potatoes are? Think of a computer mouse.) 💡POTASSIUM HACK: Soak your potatoes in a bowl of water (”dialyzing them”) up to overnight in your fridge to get some of that potassium out IF YOU NEED TO RESTRICT YOUR POTASSIUM. Take it a step further and boil your thin-sliced potatoes for about 10 minutes and you’ll cut the potassium down to about 🔅150🔅 milligrams!
Bonus: If you need to soak your potatoes to cut back on the potassium, you’ll end up with crispier oven-baked fries 🍟
If your doctor or dietitian has not told you to limit potassium, you can skip the hack. Potassium is important to help with ❤️blood pressure control and muscle contractions💪, so long as your kidneys can filter the excess potassium!

@exploreuab’s Dr. Michelle Robbin and colleagues published new #research in the Journal of the @asnkidney last month showing the benefit of ultrasound in assessing arteriovenous fistula maturation. 602 people participated in the study, which evaluated AVF maturation via ultrasound at 1 day, 2 weeks and 6 weeks after surgery. "If there is a clinical concern about AVF maturation after surgery, a 6-week ultrasound can help the clinician assess the likelihood of AVF maturation. If the AVF does not appear ready for dialysis access, management decisions such as the need for AVF intervention or watchful waiting for expected maturation can be aided based on 6-week ultrasound measurements of AVF depth, diameter, and blood flow."
🚨👩🏻⚕️🥜NEW Abstract -NEJM
Peanut allergy, for which there are no approved treatment options, affects patients who are at risk for unpredictable and occasionally life-threatening allergic reactions.
In a phase 3 trial, we screened participants 4 to 55 years of age with peanut allergy for allergic dose-limiting symptoms at a challenge dose of 100 mg or less of peanut protein (approximately one third of a peanut kernel) in a double-blind, placebo-controlled food challenge. Participants with an allergic response were randomly assigned, in a 3:1 ratio, to receive AR101 (a peanut-derived investigational biologic oral immunotherapy drug) or placebo in an escalating-dose program.
In this phase 3 trial of oral immunotherapy in children and adolescents who were highly allergic to peanut, treatment with AR101 resulted in higher doses of peanut protein that could be ingested without dose-limiting symptoms and in lower symptom severity during peanut exposure at the exit food challenge than placebo. .

Let’s take a look together at some plain and simple facts. The most important vaccine for cats to get is feline distemper( also called feline paneukopenia), yet only kittens get feline distemper as a disease. So if your cat has had a vaccine for feline distemper and is not a kitten, why get the vaccine at all? How about if your cat is an indoor cat? How often is he or she exposed to any disease? If the vaccines are effective and long lasting and your cat is not really exposed to disease, why get them? And if your cat goes outside- well the vaccine is proven to be long lasting for his or her whole life and again only kittens get feline distemper anyway.
Vaccines do not only cause immediate reactions like swelling at the site of vaccination or lethargy and fever. Vaccines do cause real life threatening health problems later on.
The feline panleukopenia vaccine is the fancy name for the distemper vaccine that is recommended your cat get every year in his booster shot. This virus is grown in a culture of feline kidney cells. There is some distressing information concerning this vaccine made even more distressing because something like 90% of cats over 10 years of age will go into kidney failure. Colorado State University did some research which showed that the majority of kittens developed autoantibodies to their own kidney tissue after being vaccinated. 😿

𝗧𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁- I had kidney failure and I didn’t believe I did. I knew close to nothing about kidney disease other than my grandpa being exhausted on it before he passed away and that a machine cleaned his blood. For too long of a time I shrugged aside kidney failure and acted as if everything was ok. So this picture represents that-my mind, in a way.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁:
I was in denial, uneducated, and very scared of the unknown. The picture shows me acting as if everything was ok, ignoring all that was wrong with me. My face I drew as swollen because when I got really sick I stopped peeing and held onto all the fluids I ingested. I physically didn’t look sick so it was hard for me to believe it myself. On the inside, I felt really really sick. For years I felt this way. Middle school was when I really took notice of it. My friend from middle school told me she remembered how I would always say how tired I was at p.e. so she wasn’t surprised to find out my diagnosis, and I completely agreed. It all made sense. Physical activity was difficult for me for YEARS. But I ignored the signs because I was young and I never thought about there being something wrong with my health. So as the years went on and my fatigue and symptoms worsened, I just associated it with me being lazy. And I constantly beat myself up for it because I wished I could do better, do more. I had grown accustomed to not feeling right and it became my norm of living. Till it got to the point where I REALLY knew I was dying. My lungs were filling with water, I was hemorrhaging, I barely ate anything, couldn’t take more than two steps without stopping, slept through every day.
This post isn’t to make anyone sad or pity me, it’s to let people know what I went through. I hope someone out there can learn from my mistake of ignoring what was happening to my health. I do understand why I did all I did and I can’t change the past.I used to blame myself and feel so guilty for letting it get so bad, but I think it all happened for a reason cont..
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸. You don't look sick (well I can't help that, I'm sorry?)
🌸You look like you had a good time (am I supposed to be miserable all the time?)
🌸You went out for the day (yes, let's celebrate that, it's not a crime to enjoy what you can)
🌸I didn't think you went to social functions, you're supposed to be sick (I am but sometimes I have a window and if I plan carefully I can manage it.)
🌸You seem too happy to be sick (that's called being positive, even when you feel a lot of unpleasant symptoms and sometimes the meds are working)
🌸You take too much medication (how do you know? Are you a doctor?)
🌸I think you should give up the prescription meds (I tell you what, let's change places. You sit over here and scream in pain and I'll stand over here and judge you)
🌸You don't follow my advice, ever (I appreciate it but I've tried many things that don't work and I am in the care of several specialists who are trained in giving the appropriate advice)
🌸Yesterday I saw you walk, today you're in a wheelchair, are you faking it? (No I simply have some days that are much worse than others. My illness is real)
🌸YES PEOPLE SAID THESE THINGS. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Nothing is more inspiring in life than seeing an imperfect person still give it their best and WIN while battling an illness. What are you battling and are you still winning?! #jaystevenspt
The first two photos here are from the year I was diagnosed with #glomerulonephritis . I was diagnosed at ten years old and for this disease and the type I have is really rare. It’s been a crazy road but I wouldn’t be who I am today without all the struggles I’ve been through facing them.
Ive been through a lot of bad but the good seriously out weighs that bad by so very much. I now have an ability to see the good even in the worst of situations which is a trait I wouldn’t trade for the world. This perspective is what got me to my second transplant and got me through losing my first transplant due to my disease. This ability will still get me through so much more in my life I believe.
The first thing my mother told me when I found out about my diagnosis was that there will always someone who has it worse than I do and that’s something I’ve held to this day.
I say this every day now and I probably will for a long time, but I am truly a fortunate individual.

Hi from @sodiumgirl! Next week most of you will partake in a great Thanksgiving feast. And that can mean both family traditional deliciousness, as well as a lot of addedd sodium! So use these easy FRIDAY #LOWSOGOOD FOOD SWAPS to keep the sodium in check, and all your favorite bites on the table!
When people talk about the bird, they tend to focus on the brine: a salty solution that means crave-worthy juiciness and a huge helping of sodium per serving. This year, buy a non-brined turkey (or chicken!) & keep it flavorful with a DIY salt-free dry rub. Baste the turkey in its own roasting juices (versus broth) and other flavorful liquids (like citrus juice and wine). Or rub salt-free butter under the skin before cooking.
Do your non-omnivore friends a favor & make stuffing outside of the bird. Instead of stock, pump up flavor with a DIY mushroom broth (rich with natural umami taste) & other non-traditional additions like DIY #lowsogood pickled grapes or cherries (which also make a great appetizer or hostess gift). Then swap out high-sodium store-bought bread with polenta croutons, wild rice, or quinoa.
Switch out half or all of the potatoes* with creamy, steamed cauiflower for a #lowsodium , #lowpotassium version. Boost flavor with fresh herbs (like chives!) Or stretch tradition with a little curry powder and chili flake.
To keep gravy #lowsogood this year, skip the high-sodium stock, and make your sauce from a mix of roasting juices and roasted mushrooms, cauliflower and carrots.
Skip high-sodium store-bought crust and collect a bunch of mason jars. Then give guests the power of choice and lay out all the pumpkin pie parts: crumbled #lowsogood , nut-free granola, spiced pumpkin* pie filling, cinnamon-flavored whipped cream, and candied walnuts. Then let guests make the perfect party parfait.
NOTE: Talk with your dietitian before making any changes to your diet. If you need to limit potassium and phosphorus in your diet, options marked "*" may not be right for you.

Today, 9 yrs ago, my queen, my dear, sweet, beautiful Mother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior 💔! She touched the “hearts” of so many 😘! The holidays are really emotionally for me, especially Thanksgiving, because it was “her” favorite holiday 😢! I miss her soooooooo much but understand there is no more pain no more suffering as she is in God’s hands 🙏🏾! Gone but “NEVER” forgotten. Continue to S.I.P Ma! 🕊 #kidneysmatter2#renaldisease#kidneydisease#copd#hypertension
#34 Smoking & Kidney disease don't go together. But why? Let’s find out!
👉 Cigarettes contain huge quantities of a compound called Nicotine. Upon exposure, this compound aggressively narrows the internal width of blood vessels, which compromises adequate blood flow through the vessel to tissues downstream. Small, thinner blood vessels nearer to organs are more prone to this effect than the larger ones. Long-term smoking narrows blood vessels permanently by stiffening their walls. Tissues beyond such vessels suffer from a chronic insufficiency of oxygen and start dying a premature death. Kidney tissue is no different.
👉 Smoke produced from burning tobacco contains a cocktail of unbelievably toxic chemicals starting from known poisons like Arsenic & battery-chemical Cadmium to cancer-causing Benzene and liver-damaging Formaldehyde. Over 5000 such toxins emanate in tobacco smoke. Inhaling this smoke literally burns our airway & immediately lets these chemicals into the blood stream. This toxin-brigade can wreak havoc as below:
🔷 It causes patchy damage to internal walls of Blood Vessels. To heal these “roughened” injury patches, white blood cells and platelets in our blood rush to the specific spots. They release sticky substances that end-up attracting lipids (fats) normally circulating in the blood to easily “grasp” onto these rough surfaces. Following this, lipids like Cholesterol start to deposit in such spots to form plaques (fancy word: “Atheroma”). These plaques narrow-down blood vessels in areas of the build-up and stiffen them locally so that they ultimately fail to increase their diameter when greater blood flow is required in a certain organ downstream. Such a compromise in adequate blood flow can worsen your kidney damage.
🔷 Further, these toxins get removed from the body via urine. So, your unwell kidneys will need to bear an additional burden of eliminating them. This directly exposes delicate urine-forming tubes (nephrons) within the kidney to these toxins and further stiffens small blood vessels within the kidney tissue [Glomerulo-sclerosis].
Hence, avoiding smoking helps control worsening of kidney damage.
