Just over two years ago I bought a gym. I had no idea what I was doing but I love training and I love helping my clients reach their goals so I thought, why not!? Owning a business is a constant roller coaster with lots of ups and downs. I have second guessed myself many times and questioned whether or not I’m cut out for the fitness industry and the craziness that comes with it. Through all of the emotions I’ve realized that this is exactly where I need to be. I’ve gained so much knowledge in the past two years and I cannot wait to step my gym up to a whole new level. I’m happy to announce that January 1st, my gym will be moving into a bigger and better location. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the gym and who continues to support @belltownstrength and myself. I have high hopes for the future and I can’t wait to grow into an even bigger community with you guys. Briefly showing the difference between a Romanian Deadlift (RDL) and a traditional deadlift using the kettlebell. Both are great moves, both are hinges and both work the entire lower body, especially the glutes and hamstrings. The RDL tends to be easier for beginners or those with limitations/recovering from injuries to learn as it doesn’t require as much mobility as the full deadlift. As you can see the RDL is more of a straight leg motion where the full deadlift requires the ankle & hip mobility to be able to drop down and sit backwards. 👉Either way whichever deadlift you choose notice that it is not a vertical movement (straight up and down) it’s more of a horizontal motion where the hips & glutes are moving back & downwards as the chest dips slightly forward. The goal here is strength endurance. Pick a kettlebell that does not compromise form or technique. These movements can be complex for some so a lighter kettlebell to start is not a bad idea. Focus on the transition from one movement to the other. Smooth is fast!

For the endurance portion of the workout we are going to jump rope every other set for 3 minutes total. This will match the amount of time spent using the KB but without rest. Lower your intensity down to 50%.

I met my friend Ernie of @earnedstrength 3 years ago, when I hosted @drmarkcheng for his #prehabrehab101 workshop. What I love about Ernie is his passion for learning about movement. We share the same background in training philosophies (kettlebells, FMS, prehab-rehab, primal movement). When his wife was expecting their first child, he reached out to me to ask how he can properly train her during pregnancy and heal postpartum. One of the courses I recommended was @jessiemundell’s Postnatal Fitness Specialists Academy. He signed up for the course this past April and graciously let me share his feedback. He’s a fitness professional that gets it. He’s probably one of the few male fitness professionals that is taking the course. Give him a follow and if you need a coach to work with in the Twin Cities, he’s your guy. Super smart and very humble. ❤️

I met my friend Ernie of @earnedstrength 3 years ago, when I hosted @drmarkcheng for his #prehabrehab101  workshop. What I love about Ernie is his passion for learning about movement. We share the same background in training philosophies (kettlebells, FMS, prehab-rehab, primal movement). When his wife was expecting their first child, he reached out to me to ask how he can properly train her during pregnancy and heal postpartum. One of the courses I recommended was @jessiemundell’s Postnatal Fitness Specialists Academy. He signed up for the course this past April and graciously let me share his feedback.
