Closing out the weekend with this thought: Truth Over Strategy. ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's kinda my thing. Well, tonight the tables were turned. Someone hit me with a serious dose of Truth Over Strategy fully knowing it could easily backfire on him. ⠀⠀⠀
Shockingly honest. And totally disarming. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That's the power of Truth Over Strategy. It levels the field for both sides. Gives everyone involved the opportunity to assess and decide how they want to proceed. Fully informed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
The truth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s a nice little push up variation for those who are looking to mix things up a bit. Grab 2 dumbbells (these were 6kg each) and give this a crack.
However, there are a couple of things you need to be able to check off before being able to do this safely:
1. Make sure you can actually do a push up. Sounds silly, but you’d be surprised how many people can’t do one properly and still try funky variations 🤦🏻♂️
2. Be able to successfully stick a whole bunch of plank/ab-rollout exercises. This exercise has a big anti-extension component through the core and if you’re unable to hold a proper prone position or manage to get through a set of rollouts then this isn’t for you...yet.
3. Ensure your grip strength is ok. Being able to hold yourself in a dead hang from a chin up bar is a great test for this. Obviously if you can’t hold the dumbbells, there’s no chance you’ll be able to stick this.
It’s also important to note that this is not a staple of my program or programs I give to my clients. It’s a highly advanced variation @sjwaley from @rehabacise gave me to mix things up and test my core strength and stability. He’s been coming up with different little tweaks and tests for me for years now but we started where everyone should...with the basics! I progressed from basic exercise to basic exercise, checking the boxes, and as a result can keep finding new ways to challenge myself.
Appreciate your help as always, brother. @sjwaley .
One of my personal goals this year is to sharpen my approach towards #simplicity . The noise, stimuli, clutter, and constant input can take the focus out of work, and the joy out of living. A little space can bring much peace. #keepitsimple
Today’s #thankfullivingchallenge is to take a moment to be grateful for creation and the environment you are surrounded with.
Take a moment appreciate the beauty of nature that you may miss on a daily basis.
A tree showing off Spring along the road on the way to work, the expanse of the sky, someone’s smile.
Notice the details of design and colour. Heighten your senses to the smell of coffee brewing or the melody of a great song.
Make yourself consciously aware of your surroundings today.
Be present in the moment. 💚
Now take a moment to close your eyes and breathe in deeply a few times.
Take a moment to be thankful for all the beauty that surrounds you and that is there to be experienced by you every day.
Meditate on the intricacies of creation and the great love displayed by God, your magnificent Creator. 🌱
Have a beautiful day of Thankful Living!
