#Durgapuja for #social causes in kanpur
Not only Bengalis but people of all communities come together to celebrate the home coming of Maa Durga in the Durga puja festival. The occasion gives to people an opportunity to do something more apart from festive celebrations. While some puja committees have pledged to make donations towards different social causes, some others want to give a message of peace and harmony to the society.
Organisers of Shree Shree Sarbojanik Durga Puja, O.E.& P. Factory Estate have pledged to provide food and other necessary items to children of spastic centre
every year. “We invite these students to our pandal every year. We offer them `bhog' and donate few other things like clothes fruits etc to them. Whatever is collected in the form of ‘daan’ to Maa Durga, is donated among the poor and the needy people. Durga Puja is not just a socio-cultural extravaganza, but it is also the time when people not only from Bengal but from other communities as well, join hands to make contribution to the society,” said Narendra, a member of the OEF Durga Puja Organising Committee.
He said that they also donate fruits and milk to patients undergoing treatment in the
of the estate. Not just Hindus, Muslims too make contributions in Durga puja celebrations. Preparations and celebrations at Sri Sri Mall Road Sarvajanin Durga Puja are incomplete without Mirza family. This Muslim family, irrespective of their religious beliefs, is an integral part of Puja celebrations.
Qamar Abbas Mirza
is the founder-member of Sri Sri Mall Road Sarvajanin Durga Puja Committee and has been welcoming Maa Durga for the last 27 years with full devotion.
Rai, senior vice-president of the Durga puja committee, said that Mirza provides the 3000 sq feet lawn for about 20 days without charging a single penny. “He is one of the oldest members of our committee. He provides us the lawn for free. The lawn owned by a Muslim turns into a place of devotion and harmony. #kanpuriya#kanpurdiaries#kanpurcentral#kanpur#durga#navratri#mumbai#delhi#navratri#navratri2018#photooftheday#photographers_of_india#photo#photography#picoftheday#pic
