VERY PERSONAL/EMOTIONAL POST
Three years ago today I ran my last cross country race. People ask me all the time why don't I do it anymore. Well it's because I have bad memories of it.
In high school I wouldn't get enough food in my body, and that would cause me to get side aches. Running miles on a side ache isn't the easiest thing in the world. I love running but I have such horrible memories running during practices, or even races.
That's why I love sprinting so much! When I run miles those horrible memories will come back. I've sacrificed my body in high school to run under 18 minutes in my final race, and to me that's good enough. I never ate enough not because I had the choice, but because my family couldn't always afford it.
When ever I did get money I'd go out an buy a party size bag of chips. Why? Because that was the cheapest thing that would fill me up until dinner (if we even had one.) Also I'd buy a two liter of mountain dew that I regret every day, but that's besides the point.
I physically ran my body into the ground, and yet I was still somehow posting up SR and PR week after week after week. Now I'm doing something I love even more, and I don't have to sacrifice a lot to do it. So, I'm very content with just running a lap around a track instead of a 5k.
That doesn't mean I don't love the sport though I still do!!!
When @vwvw86 says “Run Faster”..
@ellen.w87 has got me feeling fast again! I’ve been taking quantity over speed since UTA as pushing the pace pushed me out of my comfort zone. I’d had lost serious faith in dropping the pace again but since working with Ellen I’ve started getting faster week in week. This is me maxing out at 2:33mins/km. Sure it’s only for a second in a 15 second sprint but if that’s only 6 weeks in then #BRINGIT

@kipchogeeliud wears white arm sleeves. •••
Haven’t raced raced since April. I have some big goals for tomorrow but since they’re feeling good I’ll let the legs do the talking!
Customary flat lay pre @tcsamsterdammarathon.
Race number as pictured if you're interested in following via the app. (Race starts 0930 local, 1730 AEST, 1830 AEDT
Hoping what might very well be the last maple bacon flavoured vfuel in existence does the trick tomorrow when needed 😋
Tough few days for our handsome little Aussie. Finny lacerated his carpal pad on a large piece of glass in these fields. It also sliced several veins, and nicked an artery. @lmwallace800 and I are lucky he was able to get into emergency surgery ASAP. A lot of stitches later and he’s on the mend. Gonna be a while, but I can’t wait for him to be back out having fun again.
Up the BCMC, over to Goat Mountain, across to Goat Ridge and back again, all bookended by some bike time riding over to the North Shore and back. Alternatively known as a tiring day.
This was my first time really taking any kind of route into the backcountry, and I have to give full credit to @jpelletier for the excellent suggestion. With over 1500m of elevation gain in total it was a perfect level of challenge for myself and @run_pic_run, and the views we encountered along the way were the perfect kind of reward for the effort put in.
Now I'm just wondering where the next adventure will be. 😉
This dude has been housebound (well, aside from when I go to work and infect everyone else) with a cold/flu/plague/zombie virus all week so here’s a flashback to healthier times and some fun on trails with @ajulianna13 last month!
Day 19 @ronhilluk run everyday - holy moly that sunset tonight was something else 😍 see... its not always raining in Scotland 😂
Legs feeling good, let the streak continue!
Happy Friday all 😁
