The beauty of doing Pilates Reformer more than once a week is that you can split the workouts to focus on specific areas. Today I started with abdominal and spinal mobility then focused on legs, glutes and cardio using the jumpboard. 20 mins legs and glutes followed by 20 mins of jumps in a variety of positions and I tell you - I was one sweaty, huffy puffy mess. Here is the pattern: * Few jump with a single leg to get your footing * Supporting leg (the one jumping) starts to trace the Jumpboard in a square pattern to the R/L. * Work the jumping pattern clockwise and counterclockwise

Jumpboard week continues...yesterday’s post was an ab warmup, and today’s will wake up the legs! I’m working on a green spring, sped up 2x and only doing a few of each rep, where normally I would teach 10 of each variation. Starting with some bridging and articulation (brutal on the hamstrings on that light spring!), and continuing with single leg jumps. The non-jumping leg gets to have a nice stretch in the theraband. I’ll start jumping in parallel and continue with sets of externally and internally rotated jumps. I LOVE teaching the foot only jumps towards the end! I’ll also teach them in parallel, external and internal rotation. Not only are they awesome foot, ankle & calf strengtheners, but it’s a great way to teach the foot articulation that is supposed to happen during the bigger jumps (we’ve all seen the tip toe jumpers!). Reward your class with the stretches at the end. Jump board, a plataforma de saltos do Reformer: este excelente acessório treina a resistência muscular, resistência cardiovascular, coordenação motora,  força e equilibrio, além de tornar a sessão muito dinâmica e divertida! 
O foco do trabalho pode ser nas pernas, braços, abdômen ou mixar todos em um único exercício, dependendo da quantidade de molas e da posição do aluno no aparelho (decúbito ventral, dorsal, lateral ou sedestação). A principal característica dos exercícios pliométricos (saltos) é a capacidade de armazenar energia elástica na musculatura e no tecido conjuntivo para que seja utilizada durante a contração concêntrica.
