I let Anya out this morning and at first she didn’t know what to think about the snow and then after prancing around in it and doing her business, she flicked some snow on her back and settled down to watch for her squirrel 🐿 nemesis who like to tease and taunt her everyday. She cracks me up!!! #doglife#joysoflife#purejoy
They loved making the boomerangs...and have a strong fascination for technology but is that what we want to propagate among them? We, ourselves are transforming their classes into smart classes and providing QR coded textbooks and yet we crib for their addiction/dependence on technology... a thought worth giving... but had a joyful time with this bunch #joysoflife#lilbunch#shakeitup#smile#worththethought
Guppies are always active and hyper so not worried about them. Cooper i put in a mirror 5 minutes...every other day so he can flare and get additional exercise. He puffs up like that spitting dinosaur in Jurassic Park lol. He actually even tried pecking his reflection too this time. 😂
And my cats...lol. One likes to sit on table like she is part of the stuffed animals.
I am so excited to share this post today as I absolutely love the story behind these #portuguese#pasteisdenata . This yummy dish was invented by monks in the 18th century to utilize the yolks as the eggwhites were used to starch clothes. The real recipe is closely guarded in the best bakeries of Portugal and known only to 6 people. Now this may not be the authentic recipe straight from the monks but it's so darn good! The crisp flaky layered butter pastry formed by careful lamination has a luscious smooth creamy custard and as you bite into it, you can hear the crunch! Omg, it's absolute #gastronomic heaven. The monks certainly knew what they were doing😍😃 I am just so happy they were a success on my first try...as I did struggle with the sticky dough while laminating. Feeling #gratitude for the simple joys of life ❤
A wonderful day late September but boy was it cold! A slow steady mayfly hatch to match the weather. The weather held right through the day and didn't break until dusk. As the first stars edged through the dark blue to the east and the ice began forming on the rod, the last of the mayflies saw one last riser. 😊 #5050onthewater
Today is my mom’s birthday!
I feel like I say this any time I make a post regarding my mom in the past, but she’s honestly one of my biggest heroes! I admit that most children would probably think that way about their parents, but if only you knew the stories she’s lived and the things she’s battled.
From how she dealt with life during the Vietnam War, to how she fought against a government that destroyed our home in an attempt to steal our land. My life is a testament to her unyieldingness, strength, and courage.
So much so that my sisters and I hope to someday create a biography of her intertwined with recipes because she’s also the best cook I know. Again, I’m not just saying it because she’s my mom. Anyone who’s ever had the pleasure of trying any of her dishes would agree she’s makes amazing food creations. I’m so blessed to have her as my mom!
Some days are just this way. We could tell by the fresh trampled grass someone had been there the day before. We quickly saw how put off the fish that were out and stationed were. And of course the spring creek was too deep to cross for us to split spotting. So the plan was simple: move slowly, prospect with a best first cast to what we couldn't see and move slower yet to look and wait for movement on our side coming out from our bank. It wasn't an easy day but this is how we got them. 😊🤔 #springcreek#sightfishing
I've always been a tomboy since as long as I can remember. I was the one who played sports and never did the cheerleading.
I played everything from full contact football, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, etc...
Still the same person now but just a bit different with where life has taken me. I now have the pleasure of raising a lovely little boy and lucky enough to have a wonderful husband. .
Oh the Joy's of life....wouldn't change my tomboyish ways then and wouldn't now 😋

My husband's dream is to travel around in a VW bus and explore this beautiful country we live in. A few years back he finally got his hands on 1974 Westphalia in teal and white that's body was in mediocre shape, but the engine had already been rebuilt and for a steal of a price tag too! However, his hobby project sits in our driveway awaiting an adventure farther from home. Our kids love to play in it and we even attempted sleeping in it in the drive way one night. It was that particular night that I realized this traveling around in a VW is a pipe dream. There just simply isn't enough space to survive comfortable with the four of us. (Unless we seriously rethink the canopy space with bunks.) Because if I thought the queen size family bed was too small, one night in the bus was enough to make me realize a queen bed is not the sardine can I thought it was. My husband still talks of going on adventures as soon as we fix it up, but the only action the bus has seen lately is from prospective glassy eyed nostalgic people who knock on my door and sheepishly ask if we are interested in selling it. I always have to say no it's not for sale though. Although my husband's dream might not be or reality today, these kids are growing faster than I can blink. And who knows where the future takes us after that? This picture I'm posting is NOT our bus, although it's colours are the same. While we were down at the beach one summer evening we saw this beauty parked in a stall and had to snap a picture with it. In fact, I'm not even sure this is a real VW bus. I'm pretty sure it's a kit.
