Throwback to the last @nomadcruise where we taught #acroyoga almost every day to 50+ digital nomads and location independent entrepreneurs.
The thing I like the most about this community is that everyone is open to sharing their skills and helping each other succeed.
So after a random meeting in #nyc last night with @christabellatravels , we have decided to create a new project. The ideas and vision are still coming together but follow @nomadcollective.world for updates.
The beginning of this project will be In Barcelona during @homebaseglobal. If you don’t have any plans for November yet, join us for a month of networking, working and fun in Barcelona before over 500 of us head out on Nomad Cruise 7 to Brazil! See you in Europe. Photos by @reneschifferfotografie .
Self enquiry & self exploration through yoga.. definitely something that I perhaps wasn't expecting prior to my teacher training (despite the "warnings"!) Not always an easy journey but an incredible one nonetheless... I wonder where the next path will take me #yoga#yogateacher#curiosity#journeyofalifetime
Yesterday we did a quick tour of some of the historical sites in Makkah, we also visited the places we will have to "trek" between for the 5days Of hajj: Mina-> Arafat -> Muzdalifah -> Mina.
Pic 1+2. Mt. Rahma/Mercy ARAFAT
This is it!! The most important day of the 5 days constitutes all the pilgrims spending the day on these plains in the dessert pouring our hearts and souls out to the almighty, praying for forgiveness, praying for ourselves, our loved ones and for people in the world. This prayer encompasses both those we know and those we don't. There is no limitation.
Something that was emphasised by our group guide was "positivity" which was surprising to me. He emphasised that upon leaving these plains there should be no doubt that our prayers have been heard. We should leave with absolutely positivity and certainty in the mercy and blessings of the Almighty so that we can move forward with a clean slate and make the necessary changes to our daily lives.
It's something I found refreshing, to be reminded to be positive, it is easy to get bogged down by the negativity of our past but this is a day of purification, and in order to start new, we need to sever the chains of the past that hold us back, causing us to stay in a negative cycles causing negative reactions and negative interactions. To sever all those things that prevent us from being better versions of Ourselves! We have to let it go after sincerely emptying ourselves before our Lord...This. Is. It.
Steadfastness & A different way of living starts here. The road to the best version of myself starts HERE!

Mt. Thawr. /cave of Thawr
This mountain is approximately 950m high and is the mountain where Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) hid in a cave with Abu Bakr (RA) for three days when they made the journey from Makkah to the city of Medina (480km away) upon the invitation of the people of Medina.
The journey took them many days. And this is the famous cave where most Muslims will know, the spider spun it's web to conceal the entrance of the cave which secured the safety of the Prophet and his companion from their persecutors. You can still climb this mountain should you wish to.
This journey to Medina is what marked the beginning of the Hijri year in Islam. The year of the Hijri is parallel to the Christian AD or Jewish AM.
So when you see my hashtag #hajj1438
It means this is year 1438 of the Hijri calendar
I look at the mountainous landscape of Makkah and try to imagine how they must have lived and journeyed all those years ago. This is some really harsh terrain and yet people continue to live and thrive in these conditions. It makes me realise how adaptable humans are... The beauty of being a human is that we can adjust and adapt to various situations... And even overcome situations we didn't initially think we could.
We underestimate our potential to adapt, to learn and grow... A reminder that we are in actual fact, naturally open, loving, kind, flexible, fluid human beings and yet that we make ourselves so rigid... #hajjdiaries#hajj1438#hajj#journeyofalifetime#lessonsfromhajj#hajjmemories
Hajj Mubarak to all the beautiful souls that had the blessing of performing this Journey of a Lifetime this year! 💚
Truly those that make this journey have been invited by the Almighty to be forgiven and to return sinless just like a newborn! ................. The prophet muhammad ﷺ said: when you meet anyone who has performed hajj, greet him, shake hands with him, and beseech him to pray for the forgiveness of your sines before he reaches his home, because he is in the sate that decision of forgiveness has been taken for him💚
My dua is that Insha’Allah next year I have this blessed opportunity and all those that long to make this Journey are also granted this gift 🤲🏼
Eid ul Adha Mubarak to everyone🌹
Another Eid away from family for me but hopefully Insha’Allah next Eid will be blessed with family🌸
Alhamdullilah for everything 💞🤲🏼💖
From millions of Tents to millions of Stars! 😍🌟 May Allah accept this journey from all our Hujjaaj and accept us to be amongst the fortunate Hujjaaj soon ❤️❤️❤️ thinking of my dearest Fae ❤️❤️❤️ @fae_d #hajj#journeyofalifetime
Was that just a fraction of the night? Many Hujaaj woke up this morning feeling like they've slept for a week, although it was just a few hours on hard tar and directly under the skies... SubhanAllah, What a beautiful reminder from our beloved Creator: "Barakah (blessing) is felt in simplicity" ... Quickly now, we have not a moment to waste. The third day of Haj is the busiest for our esteemed hujaaj.
Firstly, the wuqoof in Muzdalifa is from pre dawn until sunrise.
After sunrise, they will return to the tent city, Mina, to pelt the biggest Jamarah with seven pebbles. The talbiyya (recitation of Labbayk) will now be stopped when casting the first pebble.
They will then await their agents call to inform them that their slaughtering was done. Females will then have their hair trimmed and males will have their hair shaved... They are now out of Ihram.
Tawaaf e Ziyarah is another fardh act of Haj, which will then be performed... Tawaaf e Ziyarah is a Tawaaf, followed by Sa'ee... The unique part of this Tawaaf is that it is the only time sa'ee will be made in clothes other than Ihram. Back to Mina now, for another peaceful night of sleep.
May Allah grant the Hujaaj good health and strength to fulfill all the rituals of Haj, in the way most pleasing to Allah. May Allah accept us to be from those who will chant the Labbayk in the Holy lands soon آمين
📍Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa
Very sad to say that the DEA (Department of Environmental Affairs)has licensed leopard hunting again in South Africa. This is the result of a determination by the Scientific Authority that leopard hunting in certain areas is now “sustainable”. I wonder what goes through the mind of those ignorant and greedy people that makes them think that trophy hunting is ok because the numbers of leopards in certain areas are “stable”. Now they can kill 7 males 7 years or older in the area of KwaZulu Natal and Limpopo. I found myself sad and powerless with no more words to express my feelings about this. After seeing their majesty can’t believe they feel that this killings “would have no detrimental effect on the survival of leopard in the wild”

Welcome to Makkah!! This city really does not sleep, especially during hajj season.
We arrived on Thursday evening, and performed our Umrah (said ooom-rah) which is also a type of pilgrimage, but can be performed anytime of the year as opposed to Hajj which takes place once a year on specific days. In Arabic Umrah means 'to visit a populated place' & well... U can kinda see how populated this place is.
Umrah involves donning special clothes and making an intention on the outskirts of the city to perform the umrah. Before doing so, you enter a state of ihraam, a sacred state which is required to perform the pilgrimage, and you are at your simplest form, no adornments perfumes etc. The umrah involves circling the kaaba 🕋 7 times in an anti clockwise direction, while reading out verses from the Quran, praising God constantly, thereafter stopping to pray a compulsory prayer (salaah), drinking from the zamzam well (which has been removed so now we drink from the zamzam tanks) and ending with a walk between two mountains : Safa and Marwa. These are the mountains where the wife of Abraham, Hajar ran between in search of water for her crying child, (Ishmael), she ran between them 7 times before a spring of water (Zam Zam) gushed out from underneath the babies feet providing relief for the mother and child. In her honor, we too walk between the 2 mountains 7 times. Men then shave their heads completely(its a Sunnah - something the prophet did, men are also advised to do so in the Quran in the first chapter - Surah Baqarah verse 196 - and it is also an act to show humility). Women trim a small finger width of hair. The umrah/pilgrimage is complete. You can now use perfumes etc. I hope I have explained it adequately as it isn't easy to explain, somethings need to be experienced. If I have made an error in my explanation please forgive me. I am not an expert in these matters.
Unfortunately we have both taken ill and just managed to perform our Umrah. We are now recovering and am ever so grateful to have my sister @ayeshabok here, taking care of us. Alhumdulilah for sisters ♥️ #sistershajj#hajj1438#hajjdiaries#journeyofalifetime
