In Josh Smith’s ‘Palette Paintings’, small canvases originally used as color palettes for his larger works are displayed as works of art in their own right. The large swaths of color and their layering upon the canvas serve as sacred relics, artifacts, documenting the creation of Smith’s larger works, evidence of his studio process.
Artists including David Altmejd, Tracey Emin, David Hammons, Thomas Houseago, Wyatt Kahn, Paul McCarthy, Nicolas Party, Sterling Ruby and Josh Smith are among those donating works to ‘Art for One Drop’, a special charity auction that will kick off the Phillips fall auction program tomorrow . -
The charity auction will directly benefit One Drop’s safe water initiatives in Latin America, namely through its Lazos de Agua program, which will help transform the lives of more than 200,000 people in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Colombia and Paraguay, through sustainable access to safe water and sanitation. -
More information on the auction and bidding possibilities via Phillips.com
The auction is organized with help from the Swiss curator Philipp Kaiser.
What a band! What a concert! What a night! Lzzy Fuckin’ Hale has the ability with her words to make me cry and smile at the same time, her speech tonight was as incredible as her lyrics and her blog posts. She inspires me tons and I’m so glad that only 5 days away of completing 3 years since I saw Halestorm at Rock In Rio, I got to see them again and left the concert completely filled with awe. Thank you for an incredible concert @halestormrocks @officiallzzyhale @arejayhale @thejoestorm @jodowa 🖤🤘🏻 #Halestorm#vicioustour#lzzyhale#arejayhale#joestorm#joshsmith
