I just spent a week in an intensive training in Conservation Conflict Transformation. Learning how to build platforms for organizational and societal change. It’s all comes down to individual behaviors and understanding the factors and underlying issues that create the current condition. And providing tools and capacity to shift strategic complements of the system to improve the overall dynamic. This is how I see my work as a health and fitness coach. The workouts, meal plans, and online community of support and accountability provide the platform for positive individual behavior change in health and fitness behaviors. I coach and me for people to learn the tools and put them into practice in order to reach their desired future condition. I work with people to understand their vision of success, the current situation and the factors contributing to the current state. We work together to identify, implement, test and adapt behaviors in pursuit of positive change. In the end we are looking to build in resilience into the systems - to create a sustainable lifestyle that is filed with joy, strength, confidence, and the ability to handle the inevitable ups and downs. I wanted to take a moment for all of my Instagram friends to record a short video about something that’s been bothering me. As you probably know, I don’t really take a lot of selfie videos on this feed – or any other social media feeds. I know tomorrow is #SelfieSaturday , but I also wanted to encourage people to make it #NoSelfieSaturday . I don’t really mind if people take selfie‘s occasionally on social media feeds, but I think our society is too concerned and consumed with ourselves, rather than experience of the world around us. So many people simply take selfie‘s – all the time! That’s not healthy - and it is often bothersome. I often feel that sharing the world around me, a greater purpose, a greater need, just plain more interesting things than just me and my body – that is the best gift I can give anybody. All of the things I have been blessed with him for the past few years since I joined Instagram, I want you to be part of. I know the ride isn’t going to last forever...it could end tomorrow. I also come from a locus of always being left out and always being excluded from all the things the cool kids would do and see. I can say for sure that I have broken free and I want to make sure that anyone else who hasn’t done so yet and wants to and share in my journeys.

Finished my 8 week program. Showed up 4 times a week and hit play! I showed up every damn day and did my best. Sometimes I modified. Sometimes I had to pause to catch my breath but I finished. Who ever said at home workouts were easy? Doubt me? I'll sign you up for a free week!
The start of something great comes from showing up for yourself. No one made me do this, no one cares if I dont do my workouts, so why bother? Because everytime I keep a promise to myself, I gain a little confidence. Yes I can. That's all it's about it. Showing up for me to be proud of me. .

I hear it all the time... "I'm not a shake person. I like to chew my food.” I can totally relate! Because I wasn’t either and I LOVE FOOD! 🙌
I AM also a momma who needs a quick & healthy meal or snack 🙋. I AM also a momma who needs energy to keep up with my toddler and 2 teens 💃. I AM also the type of person who prefers to get their daily vitamins, minerals, pre and probiotics in one swoop, not to mention it’s delicious. . I am also the type of person who needs a little extra help when my daily sweet tooth attacks 🍭. And I SURE as heck am the type of person who loves a chocolate (or vanilla 😉) milkshake on the regular 👍.
So maybe you're not a "shake" person... but maybe we're more alike than you think 🤔 and maybe it could do a whole lot for your health if you'd give it a shot. .

Have you ever stopped to think about how much of your life is controlled by habits?⠀
I’m currently listening to The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg on Audible. (Side note: it’s a GREAT book that explains so much in a straight forward, non fru-fru manner) ⠀
My habit of stress eating it so engrained, it’s unconscious. I plan my meals and take the time to prep and pack them and then absently eat a couple cookies from the lounge after a long day in the operating room or slam a half box of crackers without thinking about it when I get home from work hungry and tired. The trigger: stress. The habit: absent minded eating. The result: regret and disappointment. ⠀
I blamed school. Then I graduated and went into a ‘treat yo self’ mode. Then I kept treating myself when work got crazy. Then I realized I was falling back into my old self and stepped on the scale. Then I got kinda mad.⠀
Instead of taking the knee jerk reaction of hating myself, bashing my character to pieces in my head, and staring at myself in the mirror with distaste, I decided I’m going to take control again. ⠀
I am starting a new workout program on Monday, 11/5 (because I have 2 weeks left of my current lifting program and I see things through). Through the encouragement of my new uplifting trainer and the focused empowering workouts as well as results-generating nutrition plan, I’m taking off 10 pounds in 4 weeks. Yes, even with Thanksgiving falling in that timeframe. Yes, I’m still going to enjoy my Thanksgiving. ⠀
