The most common mistake is collapsing on the way down and using the obliques (or momentum) just to lift back up. Using the fitball for the side situps ensures that you control both movements: lifting *and* lowering ✔ .

The fitball also doesn't allow you to lean back or forward, which is another common mistake and usually indicates posture issues or muscle imbalances. Keep the body in a straight line fron head to toe, moving as if between two panes of glass ✔

Maintaining length in the spine during both movements is crucial too, especially while lifting to avoid bulking up the waist. Holding on to the rollback bar with arms overhead can be challenging but it can serve as a good reminder: long spine, long arms, long neck moving in a straight line up and down ✔

Lastly, I personally prefer this exercise to have a bigger ROM on the way down than on the way up: basically go all the way down even if you don't come all the way up! It's a great stretch ✔ .

This whole setup really demands you focus! But you can just hook your feet somewhere and have your hands interlaced behind the head. Just try to keep in mind these basic tips to make the most of it! ✌

O loop infinito do açúcar

Quando consumido de forma moderada, o açúcar, que é um carboidrato, produz energia rapidamente, 
tanto para os músculos quanto para o cérebro, porém quando a quantidade ingerida é exagerada, 
o excesso de doce é revertido em tecido adiposo (gordura). Quando ingerimos açúcar, as regiões cerebrais de prazer e recompensa são ativadas. 
O cérebro libera dopamina, substância que causa prazer. A glicemia despara. 
Em seguida, a Insulina é liberada em grande quantidade provocando uma redução de glicose no sangue. 
Dessa forma a Insulina elevada causa o acúmulo de gordura.

É durante esse processo que acontece os sinais de abstinência da falta de açúcar no corpo. 
Da mesma forma que a glicemia subiu no começo do processo , ela despenca e sem açúcar o corpo começa a “pedir” mais doces 
e é a partir dai que acontece a compulsão alimentar.

Da mesma forma que a glicemia subiu no começo do processo, 
ela despenca e sem açúcar o corpo começa a “pedir” mais doces (arroz, macarrão, e outros alimentos derivados de farinha). Os hormônios como a Leptina e a Grelina  ligados a saciedade começam a falhar 
gerando distúrbios alimentares como compulsão alimentar, aumento de peso, 
além de ocasionar doenças em sistema digestório e cardiovascular.

Looking at foundational Reformer exercises and here we look at “ The Roll-Back”. Here I’m adding Can-Can kicks to focus on pelvic stability. Often I hear client complain that “an Work” hurts there neck. This is a great exercise to start deep core work with out doing a curl or a crunch.

It’s for all ages, you can always go... as far as you can... as hard as you can.  I tell my clients; that’s my job to suit the exercises according to your needs. Lolita San Miguel is discussing Joe's studio back  in the day with featured speaker John Steele.
I am grateful for my relationship with Lolilta. I met Lolita around 15? Years ago. She moved into my area ,'Bernie' introduce us at a bar with my pre school  daughter .  Yes I drug my baby on a week night in the rain to meet Lolita.  My first question was did Joe wear a speedo? She laughed and answered my questions and enjoyed chatting with my child. Lolita was wonderful . We started working together. A few years later , Lolilta  told me I need to do her program. It was $8000 and 2 years. I am a single Mom , studio owner with no other instructors on hand to teach. We have season here . So if you take a week off of season you are basically screwed.  After many conversations a payment plan and a trade with an old ( but in great shape ) Balanced Body Split Peddle Wunda Chair,  we struck a deal! I had joined into the first Of the 12 Disciples. I had no idea what I was about to embark on.  Well I am a very slow learner . Lolita is not so keen on that. I do not have dance background . I only speak 1 language ( English ) 2 if you count Southern . I get anxiety when I have a test, I have long wild hair and tits that are just there and can weigh me down . Well those were my first strikes against me. My group A is an incredible group . I have life long friends from this group plus a few others from Groups B, C and so on. I was able to sit on on their groups and when I broke my finger I had to supplement my schedule . It was a great experience to meet outside Group A .  2 years later I made it through. I am so happy I stuck it out. I am amazed what Joe did and where Lolita took his seeds and spread them world wide. I am always amazed at Lolita's strength , endurance, love for the Method and most of all her motivation to work . Did I mention she was 83 years old ??
So PMA 2018  go meet Lolilta! Consider taking her certification .  I was In The right place at the right time. I feel very lucky. Lolita has helped shape my direction and career.  I know if I can pass Lolita's PMMP , I can do anything!

Thoracic mobility is very important, if not properly moved it's effects can have a ripple effect throughout the body🔸️Here are just a few ways in which thoracic issues can affect 4 main things in the body - posture, upper limb movements, lower limb movements & breathing🔸️Thoracic mobility and movement is very important in maintaining good posture🔸️With a stiff thoracic spine the natural rounded curve starts to increase and the ability to extend or straighten up & rotate decreases🔸️This leads to the neck and head poking forward (kyphosis)🔸️This, over time will start to trickle down and affect the lumbar spine and pelvis which often ends up in an anterior tilted position causing the lower back to arch more (lordotic) to compensate for the thoracic spine posture
◾
Long term the changes in  can change the way the upper and lower body move🔸️Decreased thoracic mobility decreases the range of shoulder movements by changing the position of the shoulder blades on the back of the ribcage, making it difficult also to open the chest
◾
Your four  muscles all have attachments both on your ribcage and pelvis🔸️If your thoracic spine is stiff you cannot align the ribcage & pelvis properly which will effect your core stability and will effect the way the diaphragm and pelvic floor also function in relation to each other
◾
Breathing also gets affected by thoracic stiffness🔸️Normal  causes the ribs to lift up & out the sides🔸️The stiffer the rib joint at the spine the less movement will occur at this joint making it more difficult to breathe especially when higher breathing rates and breathe volumes are required

Go on, get your thoracic spine moving 🎥sped up x7▫️Little snippet of some movement on the ▫️Your thoracic spine is the section between your neck and lower back and it's comprised of 12 thoracic vertabra and your ribcage ◾ Thoracic mobility is very important, if not properly moved it's effects can have a ripple effect throughout the body🔸️Here are just a few ways in which thoracic issues can affect 4 main things in the body - posture, upper limb movements, lower limb movements & breathing🔸️Thoracic mobility and movement is very important in maintaining good posture🔸️With a stiff thoracic spine the natural rounded curve starts to increase and the ability to extend or straighten up & rotate decreases🔸️This leads to the neck and head poking forward (kyphosis)🔸️This, over time will start to trickle down and affect the lumbar spine and pelvis which often ends up in an anterior tilted position causing the lower back to arch more (lordotic) to compensate for the thoracic spine posture ◾ Long term the changes in can change the way the upper and lower body move🔸️Decreased thoracic mobility decreases the range of shoulder movements by changing the position of the shoulder blades on the back of the ribcage, making it difficult also to open the chest ◾ Your four muscles all have attachments both on your ribcage and pelvis🔸️If your thoracic spine is stiff you cannot align the ribcage & pelvis properly which will effect your core stability and will effect the way the diaphragm and pelvic floor also function in relation to each other ◾ Breathing also gets affected by thoracic stiffness🔸️Normal causes the ribs to lift up & out the sides🔸️The stiffer the rib joint at the spine the less movement will occur at this joint making it more difficult to breathe especially when higher breathing rates and breathe volumes are required . . @yoga_factory Follow us: @pilates_professional Via: @lizzy.pilates Thanks so much ! 😘👨❤👨👩👧👧💗🧡 #matpilates  #core360  #joepilates  #poppilateslife  #progressivefitball  #pilatesforeverybody  #wundachair  #prenatalfitness  #glutesworkout  #bossofmybody  #contrologia  #coretraining  #pelvicfloorhealth  #prenatalpilates  #postnatalpilates  #

Couldn’t miss out on sharing my  moves for @shinepilatesstudio 🍑
These side splits target my side butt (aka glute medius) like crazy. I’m using one red spring and then a blue for the stretch at the end which feels sooo good 🤤 🎥 cred: Erik (hence why I bust out laughing half way through- fart noises when I lower into a squat. Cute babe, real cute.)

It looks like a giant Toe Exerciser, but the large loop goes around the head, and the other end of the Harness is attached to a stable eyelet.  We must remember that Joseph Pilates trained Boxers, wrestlers, and Circus performers, as well as dancers, and that everyone needs a strong neck!  Ironically, with all the “text necks” tense upper shoulders, and forward head syndrome we see today, we now need the Head Harness more than ever.  Once again, we see what a visionary Joe Pilates was, truly a man ahead of his time, like so many geniuses.  Here, I instruct @niclvov to perform a simple hinge backward, maintaining the spine in neutral alignment.  It is trickier than it looks, and is a full-bodied exercise, despite very limited ROM. 3-5 reps maximum is recommended.

Pilates reformer has aligned the bones in my legs and prevents turnout . It strengthens the line of the entire skeletal system from the top of the spine through the pelvis  to the bones of the feet . Since I started working in Pilates,  my upper back has opened, my core is stronger,  and I get a regular tour of my joints to understand what I need to work on more and in other sports. I have a guilty habit this summer of going for some distance runs which has been fun,  and then I get back into the studio to repair the wear and tear from the running . My yoga practice has greatly improved my flexibility , strength and my posture and I look really long and lean thru my body. And I feel good ! .
