😱Today I hit a milestone 😱

I’ve always wanted to be in shape

I’ve dealt with huge amounts of body image and confidence issues while growing up, like many people do

Today I stepped on the scale and I saw that I weighed 210lbs

This means I’ve lost more than 50lbs since starting my time at @ucirvine
.
It used to be for the weight loss, now it’s to be the warrior that I always knew I had inside

@bjjstrength Day 16 #BJJStrength30DayChallenge - one arm isometric hold.  I tried.i knew this was going to be a real challenge and I couldn’t do it. I mean not even for a second. I warmed up, tried different variations, kept my elbow close, braced. But I just couldn’t do it.  Assisted one arm I could but just 1 arm, no.  I want to though! So here’s a goal I want to work on. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
Day 16 is going to be a huge test of your upper body pulling strength. I think isometric work for BJJ can sometimes get overplayed, but this is definitely one place to use it. This exercise is a great step in working towards a one arm pull-up, and is also fantastic for building strength that makes it much harder for an opponent to separate your arm from your body, or detach you from their body when you latch on to them with your arms. ***WARNING APPROACH WITH CAUTION*** this is a very demanding exercise and I would recommend first trying this exercise on a low bar where you place your heels on the floor to take some of weight off the upper body. Build up from there.

Day 15 #BJJStrength30DayChallenge - weighted pistol squat . Just ended up going into my gym and doing reps and building up to 12kg weighted pistol squat. Left leg a bit weak and wobbly :) . But this is defo a challenge with or without weight.

Day 15 there are many great exercises for leg strength, but few that require the range of motion, balance and co-ordination as the pistol squat. One great way to do the pistol squat, which not only increases resistance and helps with the balance, is to do them weighted. You don’t need a huge weight to start (here I’m using 12kg), just enough to help with the balance so you can get down, pause and get back up with control. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
