I’ve been blogging today as the weather is dreich.
This post I wrote for @jewellersacademy has been published. It’s on ways to have a sale without having a sale. I think that handmade jewellers need to be creative about having sales because you want people to value what you do and not hang on for a discount. So if you’re interested in 5 ways to have a sale without devaluing your brand and 2 ways to clear out old stock then check the link in my bio

BRONZE MONTH IS DONE! 🎉 Month eight of making new jewellery made from different materials has been ACCOMPLISHED! 🙏
Say hellooo ... to this gorgeous pair of organic earrings, inspired by the textures I observed on recent visit to Sicily.
October's making was quite a pleasure. Intuitively creating from imagery, carving directly into material and embracing asymmetry and imperfections. All things which are not necessarily usually related to my outcomes.
For those that don't know by now, my #ProjectWabiSabi is to celebrate my business' 10th birthday and I was talking all things bronze during October.
I recommended bronze themed gifts too including beautiful ideas from: @rachel_entwistle_jewellery, @mangunbear and @bronzeagesculpture
I also interviewed talented nature inspired jeweller Jessica from @castandfound
So these warm, buttery bronze stud earrings are the culmination of the month, me making bronze themed jewellery! ❤️ So, the verdict ... what do you think?... 💭

10 years ago, I was almost living my dream. I was independent. I got what I was working so hard for: career in Samsung, stable income and my own little apartment in Sinchon, a vibrant student area in Seoul, as I wanted to be close to my alma mater Yonsei University. But I felt that something was missing. I was not happy. .
I built a good reputation in the company and developed great network. CEO personally knew me and appreciated my work. But, in the end, it was a Korean company with its heavy male-dominant and military-like corporate culture. And I had to play by the rules. I was still a young foreign girl at the bottom of Samsung’s hierarchy who wanted to break it. I was choking. .
I remember seating behind a large mahogany-brown table on the executive floor. It was the final presentation delivered by the internal Samsung consultancy, GSG, to Samsung executives. GSG is an organization that employs only top business school graduates who work together in groups on selected projects. It’s like an oasis within a Samsung Group with its own open culture, nimble processes and flat organization. .
As a group of GSG consultants, who eventually became my friends, were answering the questions of the CEO, I was admiring the confidence, experiences and opportunities they had. It was then when I realized that I was on the wrong side of the table. Since then, it took me 2 years of hard work, nights and weekends filled with studies to change my life around. I handed in my resignation letter to start one of the best years of my life, MBA at INSEAD, which gave me the opportunities and experiences I craved for. .
I dedicate this story to all of you who are working hard to achieve what you aspire. ❤️
It's good to set yourself goals. This week mine was to finish my new website with Friday afternoon being my deadline. I'm pleased so say that I'm out with the old and in with the new! And all before midday. There are still a lot of kinks to iron out so thank you in advance for your patience. Please visit my new site (link in bio) and tell me what you think. Maybe you'd like to place an order for Christmas? My pieces are sold on a made to order basis with a delivery time of up to 6 weeks. I'm taking on bespoke work as always so please take a look at the 'Bespoke' section for some inspiration. @studioyoto helped me a lot in the beginning so he's your guy if you're thinking of facing the mindfield that is website building!
Instead of getting frustrated with what you can't achieve right away, focus on how much you are learning. Something I have been thinking a lot about this week. ~new OB link necklace available in 3 colours~
I have recently attended the Scotexport event in Glasgow. It has been an invaluable experience. Even in this challenging time I believe there are opportunities. No matter how new and small your business is, there is a lot of help out there it is just a matter of searching for it. It has been priceless to meet people, share ideas and learn from experienced entrepreneurs (and breathing their contagious enthusiasm). All different types of businesses share so many aspects. Just to mention a couple of them: the need of embracing change, as change will be always there, and the importance to be focused. Thank you so much @scotgov @scottishenterprise @scottishdevelopmentinternational @highlandsandislandsenterprise for organising it. #scotexport#scotexport2018#scottishenterprise#scottishdevelopmentinternational#Highlandsandislandsenterprise#business#export#brexit#import
I love the process of making things out of metal, with my own hands. I remember I absolutely loved a jewellery class I did in year 9 [ a very long long time ago ] and something sparked in me 💫 I then went on to do work experience at a jewellers in year 10 [ in the big smoke ]
I didn't know back then that I'd go on to uni and study gold and silversmithing and one day have my own studio and be selling my own work 😍 Life hey 🌟
