Wow, what a day!
I have certainly missed my three little people, but have really enjoyed some quality time with my hubby in Glasgow’s west end.
I think I have definitely eaten my body weight in food, first in Ashton Lane for lunch, then @tchaiovna for some yogi-chai, followed by an out standing vegan meal @the78barandkitchen this evening.
One of the most beneficial aspects of today has however been that my husband (who is just about finished his Masters in Business Administration @lancasteruni ) was able to sit with me (uninterrupted 🙌🏻) to help me develop my strategic (business) plan. I hope to share a bit more about this very soon.......... Happy Monday everyone. Xx
💕In a few days on August 15, we will be celebrating a very significant date, our 5 year wedding anniversary. More than the length of time we have been together, we celebrate love and harmony that we feel and cherish every since we met. .
💕It was June 2009, when Ernesto and I met. It was also the time when I have started to actively apply to the MBA schools as I wanted to challenge myself on the international arena. I remember clearly one of those frequent evenings when we would speak our hearts out, and I told Ernesto about my plan to get into the top business school. His words that followed I cherish in my heart. He said: “You are a very capable person and I will never cut your wings. I will wait for you. I will follow you wherever you will go.” .
💕He kept his word ever since. I cherish and adore my husband and my best friend, Ernesto.
On this drizzly Sunday it's so good light to photograph shiney silver! Photography is my nemesis but it's a must if I want my work seen.
These simple but stunning hammered disks are available in my Etsy shop .. link in bio
💜 It’s been a very relaxing Saturday, cooking with Ernesto, spending time with one of my best friends visiting us from Japan, playing with the dogs and working out. Honestly, in such moments when you are just being you, when you share your love with people who mean the world to you, you realize that this is it… this is happiness… this is the place to be. .
💜 To me, it is also a time when I just free myself of any stress and pressure and I take a look of my startup life from a larger perspective: where am I heading in my business, what should I put my focus on next, what should I improve. That’s why this quality time is so important because when you seemingly don’t do anything, thats when some of your brightest ideas can come to you. .
💜 I can’t wait to share with you my next project. .
💜 What have you been up to this weekend?

Through my jewelry designs, I am aiming to create an aspirational brand VAROVA (my last name), which inspires confidence, determination and passion to become the best version of yourself. I want each of my jewelry pieces to convey this message by attaching a meaning and story behind it. .
Let me tell you why I feel so passionate about it. By sharing with you everyday all my stories from my past life in Asia, working for two major corporations in Korea and Japan, overcoming challenges and going all in (read the previous post), I realized that what was moving me all along was this desire… passion… to be confident inside out, be laser-focused on achieving my dreams and not give up. .
During the hard times, when I was down, not sure what to do and not having strength to go on, I used to watch this movie “ROCKY”, which has always carried me through those moments. I realized that my determination of not giving up and going all in to achieve my dreams is what moves me… and what makes me who I am today. And now, through VAROVA jewelry brand, I want to inspire you. .
What’s your favorite movie that helps you get inspired?

10 years ago I made a decision to leave South Korea, which was my home for more than a decade. It was not an easy decision as I practically devoted all my life to studying the language and culture. .
I came to this country all by myself when I have just turned 18. Korea was my dream land since I was 10 years old. It was my mother who “brought” it home when she started working at the Korean Consulate in my home town, Vladivostok. And so, all I craved for was to make Korea my new home. I studied so hard that eventually I was able to get a scholarship to study at one of the top universities in Seoul and eventually got an offer to join Samsung. .
However, after such a long journey and basically making my childhood dream come true, I decided to leave. Samsung provided me with a good salary, stable career… BUT I JUST COULDN’T TAKE IT. You see, I was in a very unique situation. Because I spoke perfect Korean and understood all the intricate facets of Korean culture, I was expected to be like one. As a young girl, I was at the bottom of Samsung military-like world. I was expected to serve, never question, obey orders, never leave office before the boss… I realized that no matter how hard I work, the only way was to comply. And I didn’t. .
I worked so hard to turn my life around for the next few years; going back home to Vladivostok was not an option. I wanted to be independent, support my mother and challenge myself in the international arena. I had nothing to loose. Only my dreams. I remember myself always working on my GMAT and essays as I decided to get into the top MBA school INSEAD. I was working at lunch, on the weekends, after work… I WENT ALL IN. .
I clearly remember one evening when I came back home after a long day in the office. I was laying down on the floor and crying. I had my mother on the phone. I told her: I have nothing to hold me here. No friends. No life. But my only dream to get out and make something out of my life… .
And so I did. I got in INSEAD business school and worked in Japan, Switzerland, France… and now I am in the process of building my own business. All it takes to achieve your dreams is TO GO ALL IN. NO SHORTCUTS. NO MAGIC.
Another wee image from my bell jars. This is the necklace I made for my sister to wear on my wedding day. The ponies on it are all very special to her (it is gold plated) #takeyourhorsewithyou#sarahflemingjeweller

One of the biggest pleasures after handmaking my jewellery for customers, is to add the finishing touches.
I wrap my pieces carefully in tissue paper, finished with a sticker (who doesn't love a good sticker?!). These then get put in a custom branded box or bag which I always recommend keeping for storage of my pieces, to give them a long, happy life.
These then go inside another box stuffed with tissue for safety during transit and accompanied by a hand written note by me. Personally I'm always intrigued to see a creatives handwriting, especially when their hands are what crafted the piece.
My recyclable outer packaging is always low key, just in case the parcel is a gift. But my hope is that the opening is always a pleasure for the recipient. They do say it's the inside that counts anyway don't they? 📸 @theartisansstoryteller
What does jewelry mean to you? .
To me, it is the final touch to your look, reflection of your taste and your concept of beauty. .
Our jewelry designs correspond to the ideal of timeless and classic sophistication. A combination of some of the hardest yet subtle elements in nature. The colors may emulate the delicate beauty of flowers, however, flowers are ephemeral. Our designs are perpetual.
