January 2018 was a rollercoaster of emotions.
😱My mom called me in a panic one morning, saying her and dad were headed to their make shift bunker because everyone in Hawaii received a text saying MISSILE IN BOUND. Which, luckily, turned out to be an ERROR.
😳I just started streaming on Twitch. And ATTEMPTED to play a spoopy game known as the notorious DOKI DOKI LIT CLUB. #cringe
😅We got snowed and iced in for a day because Winter was still in effect and I was terrified we were gonna freeze to death. #dramatic
😖I also had a slow emotional breakdown and ended up cutting my hair one day. I LOVED my long hair, but my natural hair started to dread on its own SO SO tightly I was getting headaches and neck aches. So, SNIP SNIP MUTHAFCKA.
What's one major thing that you can remember happened to you back in January? Funnily enough, Yoshi can't remember anything atm. LOL
Thanks for the #photoadvent challenge @rundisneytofitness I shall try my best to post a photo of each month of 2018 over the next 12 days (duh 😂) Here’s one from January 2018 - seeing in the new year and celebrating a friends OAP transition with the most amazing friends anyone could ask for! #newyearsday2018#january2018#friends#drunks#30thbirthday#lovethem
Ps if you’re tagged feel free to play along 😁
So every year like many around this time I begin to reflect on my year. Instinctively I go to negative memories. However, when I scroll through my photos from this year I suddenly remember amazing moments. So I thought in the last 12 days leading to Christmas I’d post a cluster a day which represents a month. Everybody... here’s January 2018 ✍️ #memories#january2018#reflecting
Books of the months:
Dune by Frank Herbert
This was the first book I started and finished in 2018 thanks to @redstarreviews and his #readdune read-along. Without the read-along I can't say for certain whether I would have read this book this year. I received this book in November from a student when I was leaving a long term sub position and it broke my heart and made my heart sing all at once!
I still think about this book a lot. The world building that Herbert does in this book is absolutely stunning and he makes the planet Dune not just the setting but almost like a character as well. All the main characters are fleshed out in a way that you feel insanely complete when the story is over but also lost because you have been so entrenched in these characters. I can't say enough about this book and I recommend it to any sci-if lovers out there!
Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I really did love this book and it gave me life at the end of January but it doesn't complete with Dune on the same level... not even close. But if you are looking for a good YA that is engaging, then def this one!
#ayearin12posts , #january2018 .
Let’s kick off this year with style and color! January started off with an unexpected question.
One of those questions that are so far-fetched you haven’t even played scenarios in your mind.
“Would you be interested in moving to Mexico City?”
I thought I was done with moving every 10 months, so that question really took me by surprise, but the next thing I knew was that I had rush renewing my passport. And I was on a flight to Mexico.
Mexico will feature in at least 1 or 2 more posts this year, so I’ll keep it short.
Beautiful country, joyful people, color everywhere, and probably most importantly, delicious food.
Mexico Querido, thank you for setting the bar so high for the rest of the year!
