From Cyrus’ point of view:
“TJ I know you don’t want to study but-“ he cuts me off.
“No that’s not it I just, I can’t focus right now. I’ll study at home.” He says walking past me to get to the door.
“TJ, what’s going on?” He turns towards me now. He seems a little off, even though he’s facing me he won’t look me in the eyes. I’m hoping I’m the distraction but I’m not sure.
“Fine. I like you Cyrus. Look, I know you like Jonah but I just-“
“Did you miss the whole part where I told you I like you?” Why is it taking him so long to understand this? I throw the bag of pretzels that I’m still holding onto the bed.
“You just said you thought I was attractive, that’s it.”
“Well... I like you,” I say pointing to him and pinning him against my door with my hand. I’ve never been this forward. “And how do you know that I like Jonah?”
“I see the way you look at him, you don’t look at anyone else that way, I just thought...”
“I don’t like Jonah.... anymore.”
“What changed?” He says slowly.
“Someone showed me what it’s like to feel safe and wanted.” I say talking even slower, “He’s confident and athletic, everything I’m not. He makes me a better person and in return I help him get better grades.”
“If it’s not me you must be a very busy tutor.”
“You keep me busy enough.” I say as I pull him down by the front of his shirt for a kiss. It feels magical and exactly how I imagined a kiss with him would make me feel. He pulls away for a moment to look from my eyes to my lips and goes in for another kiss. This is crazy! TJ is here in my bedroom and I’m kissing him! I’m so glad to be his tutor and not Buffy.
He pulls away from the kiss with a smile, “So... same time tomorrow?” He asks.
“I’ll be here.” I say shyly looking from him down to the floor closing my door behind him.
