P.S. She gives pretty spectacular hugs. 🤗 🤗 🤗
i know just like a week ago i was posting at least three times a day, and now it's lucky if i post once, and i'm sorry about that. Life's getting the better of me right now, and i'm entering a stage that i haven't been in in a while, and i honestly don't know what to do other than wait it out. Hopefully soon i'll be posting more. Much love
Currently, I'm in #LA on holiday. Today, I saw @officialspikelee's cleverly titled '#BlacKkKlansman ', starring #JohnDavidWashington as #RonStallworth , a black cop, who investigates the KKK by having co-worker Flip pass himself off as Stallworth during in-person meetings with the Klan.
This premise sounds absolutely crazy and yet this was a true story. #SpikeLee is a director, whose work I've not mostly seen. The only feature of his that I've seen is his 2013 remake of 'Oldboy', which is the least #SpikeLee film that he could ever make, but from browsing his filmography, it's clear the themes of liberation & equality for #AfricanAmericans is a key trademark.
There's a mixture of humour & darkness and it's also one of the best written films I've seen this year, in terms of dialogue. Very punchy with its words & feels authentic at points. I hope Lee + his writers get a #BestAdaptedScreenplay nod @ next year's Oscars.
Performances: #JohnDavidWashington does an excellent performance as #RonStallworth . He's a very likeable character + has some dimension to his performance. The actors who play the Klan members, including #JasperPaakkonen as Felix, are terrific. Paakkonen is very intimidating in his role, as he has some suspicions that Flip may be a fraud. #PaulWalterHouser is good in this film, even though he's still pretty much playing the same stereotype he was in '#ITonya '. #LauraHarrier 's good as Ron's love interest and #AshlieAtkinson 's great as Felix's wife, even though she seems like she's hamming it up @ times. #TopherGrace is great as #DavidDuke , who's the founder of the KKK.
And now we get onto the ending of the film which, when you think about it, may have overdid it. While it did tie up loose ends, the film went all '#2001ASpaceOdyssey ' before it cuts to a montage of Charlottesville, including the death of #HeatherMeyer . Though the use of that footage is effective, it didn't really end on a subtle note.
CONCLUSION: 'BlacKkKlansman' is EXCELLENT. Performances were excellent, has a good disco soundtrack. It may have a great chance at the Oscars. It's not out in England yet, but when it does, any British folk should definitely check this out. 9/10 👍🎥
Tonya Harding: Oh my God, It was totally the most awesomest thing. 'Cause leading up it, you're like, "I can't do it! I can't. I can't!" And then, bam, I can! And all those people who said I couldn't make it, well fuck you! I did!
