Status: sitting on a bus heading on my second trip out of Bogota.
This time to somewhere warm. ☺️🌴☀️
It may be surprising, but where I’m living, in Bogota, is not the tropic and warm paradise you may have imagined. Sure, when the sun is out, it’s rays are hot, but being 8,000 ft up in a mountain definitely cools the air down.
It’s essentially like eternal fall. Warm sun that quickly turns into a chilly breeze when the clouds come in.
My first trip out of the city was to the Boyacá region, which is also known for being chilly, but boy were the views beautiful.
Hi Hello friends, family, followers and everyone in between.
I’ve been inactive and unresponsive, but here I am, back to give a little update!
For those of you who don’t know yet, I quit my 9-5, packed my bags and moved away from my hometown Milwaukee, WI, for the firs time, to Bogota, Colombia.
Why did I do it? For a couple reasons.
1. To be close to my partner. My partner got this amazing opportunity to move down here on a scholarship, and let’s face it. Long distance is hard.
2. To learn Spanish. I took four years of Spanish in high school, but with little practice after, I’ve lost most of it. This is an opportunity for me take classes and finally learn a second language in a country that speaks it.
3. To live my dreams. That sounds super cheesy, I know, but I’ve been saying for the longest time how I want to live in other places, to experience different cultures and to travel. I’m finally getting the chance to do that.
With this huge change comes some smaller ones.
For a while I felt like I couldn’t find my place in the big Instagram world, and in turn wasn’t apart of it altogether.
I really want to reconnect on this platform again. I want to grow, share, create, connect and learn with all of you!
With that, I’ve also created a little blog to document my travels and life here in South America. It doesn’t have any posts yet, but head over to RosetintedQuart.com to see what I started.
Also thank you to @lainarose1 for this lovely photo of me on my first day in Bogota. Until next time.
