This form of training conditions you to perform daily life activities that are common for you with greater ease and stability.
In short, functional training helps you build strength, power, and mobility that translates beyond the gym. It’s “real world” fitness.
I almost always do my Bulgarian Split squats and walking lunges with a weight overhead in order to build muscle stamina in my shoulders and to help condition my shoulders as well as my arms and core for when I’m carrying my 11’ 3” board overhead. Make sense? So, think about your activities and what you can do to incorporate functional training into your gym routine. Btw: Holding the weight Overhead builds nice stamina within your shoulders. What Is a Compound Exercise?
Compound exercises are multi-joint movements that work several muscles or muscle groups at one time. A great example of a compound exercise is the squat exercise, which engages many muscles in the lower body and core, including the quadriceps, the hamstrings, the calves, the glutes, the lower back and the core. Then I go and ad a deadlift to the mix. 🙌🏻
