Defense is half the game! Think you can win and be successful without playing defense? You couldn’t be more wrong. Some players make their living on that side of the ball and the great thing is, it doesn’t require the same level of talent as offense does. What it does require, is 10 times the heart, passion, and fire. You could have almost no offensive skill, but if you’re a dog and just all heart then you can be a great defender! Follow these tips to see what it takes to be a great defender. Also, check out the Swingman Shooting Program to get some help on the other side of the ball! Lol

Can Okafor turn his career around in New Orleans??
Personally I love what he has done with his body and the work ethic hes shown this summer. However I'm not sure that a fast paced pelicans team is a good fit for a player like Okafor. With that being said I hope he can turn his career around
Isaiah Thomas is in position to have a resurgence because the Denver Nuggets run a similar system to when he was in Boston. The Nuggets currently run an offensive system centered around the dribble handoffs which is the system that helped him average 25.5 points per game with 6.1 assists per game over two full seasons in Boston. Luol Deng should be given an opportunity to play. If he plays well his trade value will increase, but on the contrary if he plays poor his trade value will get worse (if that’s even possible). Deng is getting paid half of what LeBron is making this season so there’s no point in not letting him play whether it be at the end of games or when starters need a break.
• This next offseason recap is for the #DenverNuggets .
As for the draft, the Nuggets had some pretty good pickups. #MichaelPorterJr could either be really good or really bad, but the Nuggets are in no rush for his return and can wait for him to be fully healthy. I think Denver definitely went with the right pick here, even if it takes some time, as his potential is sky-high. Other second rounders in #JarredVanderbilt and #ThomasWelsh may not amount to much more than role players, but it’s hard to grade second rounders who haven’t even hit an NBA court yet.
The free agency signing of #IsaiahThomas was perfect, as he can help provide offense off of the bench and its for a one year deal, so if all goes wrong, the Nuggets can just move on.
Bringing back #WillBarton was key, as he had his best season in his career. He’s a spark plug for the team and brings energy. The #NikolaJokic extension was necessary, as he’s a franchise piece. Bringing back #TorreyCraig and #MonteMorris couldn’t hurt, I suppose, as Craig performed pretty well and it seems Morris is still developing.
There are only two qualms I had about this offseason. Trading #KennethFaried for pretty much nothing in return sucks, although that may be what his trade value has resulted in now. Also, the Nuggets made no moves concerning their defense, and it hasn’t really gotten better, only worse with the removal of Faried and the addition of Isaiah Thomas. Overall, however, a good offseason for the future.
Overall Offseason Grade: B
