The last few days were amazing.  I surrounded myself with strong leaders that communicated a vision that I am so excited and hungry for.  I developed even closer relationships with some awesome humans that I feel so blessed to have in my life.  I learned even more the amazing strength it takes to be vulnerable but how incredibly powerful it can be by sharing your struggles with those you trust. 
I am heading back to Louisville SO FIRED UP to put my head down and work!! I can’t wait for the incredible opportunity to help more people change their lives!

WANT A BETTER KETTLEBELL SWING??

What’s up Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here with a little visual on how to optimize your kettlebell swings!

The smaller the arc of the kettlebell, the more efficient your swing will be. This is why we recommend hiking the bell high between your legs, and keeping the shoulders packed at the top position (as shown in the photo on the left.)

When you let the bell go too low in the backswing and then travel out in front of you at the top, you are creating a much bigger arc which is making for a much less efficient swing. This also places some undue stress on the spine, especially if the back rounds at the bottom.

If you’re looking to develop power and efficiency with kettlebell swings, you’ll definitely want to aim to look more like the photo on the left!

For anyone with pain reaching overhead or reaching out to the side, this is a really good medium exercise. .
1️⃣Start with the band coming across your stomach and rotate your arm out facing forward, keeping the elbow bent to 90 degrees the entire time. 
2️⃣While maintaining that position, take your arm overhead until it gets to about 90 degrees... You can go higher, but the key is to not let your wrist rotate inwards because that can actually increase the pain. 🎯The point to this exercise is that we want to activate your external rotator muscles which are the key stabilizers to your rotator cuff while lifting overhead. .
☝🏻I see a lot of people try to do a corrective exercise where they're just doing the rotation with their arm by their side but they're never taking it overhead.  Not too many people have pain with their arm by their side but they have pain when they lift overhead, so this is probably my favorite rotator cuff exercise to activate the rotator cuff by going outwards and then lifting your arm overhead. .
3️⃣I can then make it harder or just change it up a little bit by opening my chest up a little bit further to where I'm now having my arm almost completely in the frontal plane where I'm going into abduction with my shoulder.  This motion is similar to doing a jumping jack. ☝🏻A lot of people can lift their arm up in front of them without pain, but when they lift out to the side overhead, that does cause their pain, so they can progress to this exercise. .
🎯Again, the keys are to rotate your wrist outwards, maintain the elbow bent to 90 degrees, and then go upwards making sure that your wrist does not fall in to an internal rotated position because that can cause the pain.  It's really important to maintain good posture throughout this whole exercise.  #901pt #901physicaltherapy
