📷 I have always said on here that keeping humans alive was never a problem, but plants and flowers were always questionable........although could be questioned after nearly 3 weeks off work.....ABCDE (anyone medical will get that) BUT proud to have grown my window boxes all by myself and properly looked after them, as I’ve done with my Bay trees, I’ve even bought Miracle grow food - big step for me!
📷 Painting in our room is finished (well other than the doors, skirting and architraves but that’s a job for the winter!). Love how the colour turned out, it @farrowandball Peignoir on the back wall and using the left over paint for the one wall in my WIW.
I’m already looking to change the light in this room, but haven’t found the right one 🙄and I want to ask about bed sheets. @thelighthousekeepsher got an amazing deal on hotel quality bedding, but it comes in bulk, as in 5 sets, I just want one set for now. So looking for really good quality, soft, white bedding - please leave recommendations below!
The Curragh Stud, an expansive rural cottage brimming with exotic personality and charm, sits comfortably alongside an enduring racehorse training enterprise in the heart of County Kildare – Home of the Thoroughbred. Host to Ireland's Premier Flat Racecourse, and bordering the Wicklow mountains, The Curragh is less than an hour from the centre of Dublin City. County Kildare is at the centre of the Irish horse industry and possibly the golfing one, but it is also home to the Luxury Designer Brand outlets known as Kildare Village.
📷 A pot of coffee and then we are sorting out those drawers! Feels like we aren’t in the house a wet week (this is probably an Irish saying?) and we already have two junk drawers....you know , the ones everyone has full of letters, batteries, birthday candles....the drawer I swore I wouldn’t have when we moved here, and somehow I’ve ended up with two, two that are deep enough to fit saucepans and pots 🙈🙈 that’s a whole pile of sorting!! But first, the coffee!
📷 Morning! Anyone else put off bathing/showering their kids on a Friday night because everyone is just too tired.....and then have all the regrets in the morning, when it has to be done as they are sweaty and crawling with the dirt 😉! So that’s the plan this morning, battle with hair washing and hair drying and then it’s off to get my little lady her school uniform. It’s a big day for both of us......(I’m still obsessed with our new shutters, the kids favourite thing is to open them up and back in the mornings)
Progress every day. It’s so exciting. Fencing continues this evening and the first load of stones for the laneway has arrived. More expected tomorrow and the fencing should be finished. Best pre holiday pressie ever!!!! So gratifying to finally see something physical happening on site 😁😁😁😁🙌🙌🙌🙌
📷 Last coat on the panelling went on last night, now I need to get my mirror hung up tonight. Have a question, I have a mirror with a chain, that will be visible, what will we use to hang it? Just a nail and paint that or has anyone seen some nice hooks for 1930’s style mirrors?
Claddagh Wood Carving
https://www.creativeirishgifts.com/p/claddagh-wood-carvin…/… Four unique woods combine in this stunning Claddagh wall hanging. Created in a process known as Intarsia, this piece was made by laying exotic wood strips onto a solid wood surface to create a pictorial mosaic. 5'' diameter.
HAVE IT MADE | I love crafting things to decorate our home, but nothing I've ever done has struck a chord with people like this cross stitch I designed and made for my sister when she moved into @theirishschoolhouse, a Victorian-era schoolhouse building in a Gaeltacht area. The toilet I stitched is similar to the high-cistern toilet in her house, and the text, written in the old Cló Gaelach font, translates as "May I go to the toilet?" It's one of the first phrases children learn to say in the Irish language when they start school, and often remains one of the few things people remember how to say after leaving school. For that reason, it seems to stir sentimenality and is always a real favourite with people. 🚽
📷 The treasure map wallpaper that’s actually a map of the continents has been one of our best purchases. The kids come up here before bedtime most evenings and now can tell me where each continent is.....we have had as much enjoyment out of it as they had.....and if you have been following me some way back - remember Harry using the sample piece of the wallpaper as a colouring book 😂🙈 I had so much fear he would use the papered wall for the same, but he hasn’t gone near it with markers or colours TG!
I have been gathering photos and frames for a while now, and the other day I put them up on the lower flight of stairs... The oldest photos are in the centre, with the newer (coloured) ones on the edges. I will add to it as I get more photos and frames.
First steps are being taken. Apart from being stumped by one very big stump, all smooth sailing. The site is now connected to the laneway and fencing starts tomorrow 🎊🎉🎊 serious thrills going on here!!!!!
📷 How gorgeous are our new Cafe style, planter shutters 😍 I adore them. They are bifold, wooden and water resistant. I didn’t want to loose the view, or take from our lovely windows and I think Sarah and her team from @shutterco_nhi met the brief exactly when I described what I wanted for this room. The shutters are for the kids privacy come winter when we have the lights on in here, but we still get to take in those gorgeous countryside views outside the window! And in other news, the painting of that panelling has started....we are about an hour in! 🙄🙄
📷 We are home and busy inspecting all the work that has been done while we were away and unpacking all our bits!
The @maisonbrocante cushions are even nicer in real life and Nicole threw in a little extra gift in the same fabric. Loads done here, will upload pictures as we sort the rooms out x
