Sarah has trained with me for a few years now. Over that time there’s been various stages of adding muscle and losing body fat. Earlier this year Sarah decided to set herself the goal of doing a photoshoot to get in the best shape of her life.

Transformations like this don’t just happen in 12 weeks. Yes anyone can diet for 12 weeks and lose whatever body fat they have, but there needs to be quality muscle tissue underneath to really be in good shape. Although Sarah only dieted for about 15 weeks, these photos are the result of, for the most part, being consistent with training and making better food choices for a few years now.

Seeing results like this is why I love my job. Knowing that Sarah also has the knowledge now to go off on her own, plan her own training and eat according to her goals makes it even more rewarding.

Make then most of the days when you have the most time to do what you want to do for the results you want to achieve.

Yesterday was a day where I had no where to go. Which could of had me just sitting and laying around. Hardly moving with little to no energy expenditure.

Instead I did exercise when I wanted. House work and moved about around all day doing bits so I limited the time sitting still until I could sit back and enjoy doing absolutely nothing in the evening when the chill time was right for me.

Since starting up the PT gains train business I've seen how easy it is to let yourself go from being too busy and not allocating to yourself but it would be absolutely ridiculous to do so when my one job is to help people out of those situations! .
In saying that I've absolutely neglected my baking butttt 🍑 I did just bake something last night and it's currently in my fridge so expect photos later. 😎

DUBLIN VEGFEST. .

If you're about the big city today - go and check out the @dublinvegfest. It's from 11am -6pm + filled to the brim with some of the tastiest plant based food on this fine island of ours. .

Pick up a plate of grub + pop in to listen to the excellent speakers. The day flew by yesterday with us hopping from talk to tent + I loved them all. Inspiring + sobering at times. If we all just ate a few more plants the positive impact this would have on our environment,the animals + our health is huge - I'm all in with the lifestyle anyways but yesterday gave me a much needed boost + a nice sense of being part of a pretty sweet community of people here in Ireland. .
There really are some inspiring people doing such amazing work. . .
There are also companies creating quality ethical clothes :
@grown_clothing which is an Irish company + creating sustainable clothing inspired by the Irish sea , coast +wildlife. Their range is beautiful.

Those @peryanvegan shoes !! Aren't they just gorgeous? .

We ate some @shoots_and_roots  bean burgers, had @sunbeargelato for after + tried many,many bits of @cornucopia_restaurant cakes and the @wildsagebakery were some of my take home buys. 
@ourtabledublin are there, highlighting the need to end Direct provision in Ireland as well as providing an independent ncome for migrant workers+ opportunities to find work + eliminate social exclusion.

I've been trying samples of @scitecnutrition #protein all week. They were provided by @lsnreviews and @leydenssportsnutrition for my honest opinion so here goes. 
The most important things for me in protein powder are taste and texture when mixed. This is top. The strawberry and chocolate ones especially tasted just like the sort of milkshake you got as a kid. They mixed so smooth and the taste was great. I've gradually copped on over this past few weeks though that as much as I like coconut, it doesn't do it for me in supplements. For full macros see the picture but you're talking 22g and 24g respectively which is good. All in I'm give this protein a massive thumbs up.

2️⃣ Track your nutrition: You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight/body fat. This means you need to eat less calories than your burn. Use @myfitnesspal to find out your daily calorie intake for your goals and start tracking your calories! 🍗 🥩 🥦 .

3️⃣Be Patient: This is one of the hardest things when it comes to fat loss. You need to be patient and consistent. You wont see changes in 2-3 weeks but keep going. Within 6-12 weeks you will see a big difference that will motivate you to turn it into a lifestyle. ⏱⏳#FitGuru

Spicy vegetable noodles from Trish
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This really is a simple dish to make but very filling ,prepare the veg the night before then when you come home from work or a busy day you can have a meal in no time !
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔1 nest of instant rice noodles
✔1 carrot cut into matchsticks ✔Handful of green Beans
✔1 shallot diced
✔1clove of garlic sliced
✔Slice of fresh ginger diced
✔Handful of brown mushrooms sliced
✔1/2 tsp of curry powder
✔1/2 tsp of paprika ✔Pinch of dried chilli flakes
✔3-4 tbs of soy sauce
✔Fresh coriander leaves
✔1tsp of extra virgn olive oil!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Heat the oil in a pan and add in all the veg cook for 5 minutes on a low heat add in the spices and soy sauce stir and cook for another 3 minutes.

Put the noodles in a bowl and cover with boiling water for 3 minutes drain and run under cold water add to the pan and mix everything together untill the noodles are warmed through!

 The other day I was craving chocolate chip cookies so badly. I opened the cupboard and saw I had some coconut flour that I never use so I figured I’d give something a shot. My original plan was to make a protein ball, not a cookie. I mixed together all of the ingredients and rolled them into balls and they tasted like shit. They were really dry and not fun to eat so I smashed one down and put it in the microwave to see what would happen. A cookieish thing came out, it didn’t look great but it actually tasted pretty good, still a little dry though. I had a couple of the raw protein balls left so the next experiment I tried was to not flatten the ball and place it in the microwave as is. I microwaved it for 30 seconds and it came out as the gooeyist masterpiece. They were so good and masterfully cured my sweet tooth!!

To make these I mixed the dry ingredients together, then melted the coconut oil and mixed it in with the peanut butter and milk. Add the wet to the dry and mix to form a dough. I then chilled the dough a few minutes and rolled it into balls and added a few chocolate chips. 30 seconds in the microwave with one of the balls was the perfect amount and was like a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. This recipe made me 5 1-1.5” balls and the nutrition information is for all 5 cookies!! Not too bad if you ask me. .

One of our wonderful friends here decided to give it a go with whey instead of casein and they said it works but you have to use less milk so be cautious of that if you try it with whey!!

Decided to keep a full food diary yesterday to help me keep on plan and it worked 🙌🏻 Weekends are usually tough for me so I’ll probably do the same again today and see how I go 🍴 Lunch was a roast veg and feta wrap (hex a +b) and 3 syns, one for relish and 2 for 25g sundried tomatoes 🍅 Snack bar and tea (5.5 syns),Muller Light ( technically 1 syn now but I’m not counting as I don’t eat them very often 😂) and dinner is as a lovely syn free chicken tikka masala with pilau rice and a few SW chips 🤤 That was my fakeaway Indian for last night and it was delicious with a Coke Zero! Proud of myself for staying on plan because there was temptation when someone brought a lot of chocolate and crisps to the house! 🙄 Didn’t make it to the gym but got a lot sorted in the house and some bits I’ve been putting off, done. Back on the job hunt now so that’s always fun 😂 Have some assignments and work to do today so it won’t be as relaxed as I hoped 🙃 I hope you all have a lovely Sunday 💞

One of the first exercises I do with clients is to examine and list out where are you draining your energy and where do you get positive energy from? Start treating your energy like precious currency. If you overspend on energy in one week, be mindful to up for income energy for the following 🌟

This helps save or recover us from complete burnout and over-stress. And while yes life can be complex, it's also beautiful. Enjoy it and realise that we are lucky enough to get to experience it!💃🏼🕺🏼

Today we kick off with the first pose of the backbending sequence in the Intermediate Series. This one is all about strengthening the back of the body. We do 5 breaths each in Salabhasana A and B (different arm variations, see photos).

At the moment my practice consists of full Primary and about half of Second Series. I’ve been told I can “split” my practice to save time (meaning do half splits of Primary followed by Second), but I’m trying to build strength and prefer to do the full practice most days. By this point I’m grateful for the chance to lie on my belly for a breath, and the shorter transitions between poses! .

Let me tell you a little bit about how we met 🤗🌻 myself and Grayce met in our final two years in school. We were forced to sit in alphabetical order in music class, and thus we ended up beside each other 😂✨ I really loved having her there and talking to her though, she always made music class so much fun 😌🧡

Grayce was always someone who I found really interesting and inspiring. In our final year, she was so in tune with herself and her body and had this amazing talent to catch herself every time she was feeling unwell and make herself better in less than 24 hours— mad stuff 😂😂 and when Grayce became vegan, I was always so fascinated by it and asked her many annoying FAQs about it— her food always looked so good though 😂😂🌿

In that way, Grayce had a hand at inspiring me to cook vegan foods that would make people say “that doesn’t even need meat” 😌✨ and now for a year I’m vegetarian, and this year I’m omitting dairy from my diet🌱🐮 .
Grayce studies in Galway and I’m still living in my home town and commuting to Dublin. On this note, we’ve decided to make @dublinvegfest our yearly meet-up spot 🧡🍃 thank you for showing me this amazing festival Grayce!! Until next year 🌼🌼 .

Chin ups & pull ups are great for putting mass on your back. Both have been shown to elicit high EMG activity in the Lats, with chin ups having higher rates of biceps activation than pull ups. The lower traps are slightly more active in the pull up over the chin up.

🤔Most people can easily perform more chin ups than pull ups and perhaps this is due to the lats fatiguing faster in the pull up. However, there is no relevant research that directly prefers one over the other, so I’d have to recommend both to get the full benefits of these bodyweight movements.

Grip width is however something that is applicable to both and the research shows that a shoulder width grip is best for lat activation.

Whether you choose to do pull ups or chin ups, having your hands just outside of shoulder width seems to be best for growth.

Last night, I posted about how you should be doing big compound lifts 80% (at least) of the time to build muscle.

This is a general rule, but everyone is different. Some people don't even need to do isolation exercises. For example, beginners can build a great body with 100% compound exercises.

I only recommend using isolation exercises on lagging body parts. So if your calves aren't growing, then isolate them. If you want your delts to grow faster than the rest of your body, then isolate them. This is how you need to think about training. Only do something if it's needed.

As you probably know, I built my quads pretty quickly due to training them 3-4x per week, but then I started doing other routines that called for leg extensions. This was stupid and not needed. My quads were already too developed for my body, so doing more quad work made no sense. So instead, I started isolating my hamstrings (which need some work).

If you're looking for a quick fix in your training, then focus on the exercises on the left and use them more often than the exercises on the right. When in doubt, just ask yourself "What would Cersei Lannister do?...and then do the opposite.
