I have a lot of time and RESPECT for anybody who is trying to better themselves through exercise/ training and nutrition. Coming through the doors of a gym can be daunting to anyone so for those people who have made that step, I applaud you. 
If you have trained with me or been through my sessions you know I don’t like laziness. When I train myself or others we definitely put a shift in. The fact of the matter is I don’t care on your ability level, strength, fitness, shape or size as long as you try hard and get a good work out in the process. You will learn and get better over time.

Remember this, even if you are moving slower than the majority or even at the back of the moving pack you are still moving faster than those who are stopped and you are still improving yourself. Keep up your good work.

Well, that was awful! 8x15 cals 3 min rest.  Thought I kept up intensity relatively well, but you can see the drop off.  Oh and one round I tried reducing rpm's and pulling harder. That didn't go well.  Overall, not a pretty sight, but progress isn't always pretty.

He is a true legend and I can’t think of a better ambassador of the sport. Just watch him interact with fans at shows and expos. @laurahathawayifbbpro and I have had the great honor to get to know him personally over the past several years which has increased our respect for him. Even though I now consider him a friend, I’ll always still be a bodybuilding fan first and am thankful for what he’s done during his amazing career.

20 min/day of moderate intensity per week OR 7 min/day of vigorous activity per week OR a mix between both. This is an adequate amount of exercise to actually experience the health benefits of exercising! Is that more or less than you were expecting? 🤔

Health benefits of exercise include reduced risk of heart, lung, and artery diseases, hypertension, metabolic diseases, type 2 diabetes, types of cancers, anxiety, and depression. It can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. And not to mention fat loss and definition of your muscular structure (looking "toned")!

Intensity is relative to each individual person based on a number of factors. My "vigorous" workout won't be the same as someone just starting out. If you suspect or have a history of health issues talk to your doctor first!

I know you have 7-20 minutes per day. Or even, 14-40 minutes most days of the week. Daily (or almost daily) activity is important and doesn't always have to be super intense. Start small. Can you find time this week - even 5 minutes - to focus 🔎 on some stretching or a short workout? I bet you can!!!

The Lat is a difficult muscle to get fully shortened (under mechanical tension), which is what we want, to achieve the ultimate goal which is to get lat development (in most cases). by utilising other exercises before these you will fatigue the lats quickly and thus decrease the chance to overload at their potential in later sets which bypasses a fundamental mechanism of hypertrophy.

I noticed something in the gym while I was doing intervals on the airbike....actually, after I died on the airbike......there is just no real intensity in training anymore. People just go about their training business in a kind of half hearted way. Maybe that is why crossfit is so extremely successful, it is simply ramping up the intensity in their training to get a real stimulus and that is why people see results. When I think back to my days of teaching 20 plus fitness classes in a week, I remember being so attached to the idea that more exercise was always better.
.
I was always running, spinning, jumping and lifting weights. I was walking to my classes and always trying to get more movement in. I did love it for a time.
.
But eventually I realized all I really wanted was to see my muscles and to not be so exhausted and hungry all the time. I also finally embraced and healed my tendency to go to extremes with food and exercise and control.
.
So I began to exercise less. I got my sweat time down from 25 + hours per week to 5 hours. Now it’s at about 3 hours per week.
.
This is something I work on regularly - how can I be more efficient and balanced with my approach? How can I manage my energy levels? How can I stay consistent with exercise for life?
.
And the answer has been to resist the temptation of extremes. I do lots of movement (slow walking, gentle yoga, yard work, chores) and just the right amount of intense, sweaty exercise. I’m not trying to burn calories all the time. I let my nervous system rest A LOT.
.
I truly believe that my sweet spot lies in not going to the extremes of over-exercising or the extremes of under-exercising so I am mindful of striking that balance. My tools for keeping the ideal balance of movement and exercise are: short, weight-based workouts, being aware of when I get triggered to take on an extreme approach and sticking to my guns, and having a toddler who loves walks and bike rides! 😁❤️💪🏼 .

This morning me and my bestie ran through some comp wods for the weekend... then I did 5 rnds of 12 bench 8 rows 12 leg raises followed by 5 rounds of 5 single arm kb dl each side 30 sec plank 30 seconds l hold... then I ate food and drank coffee ... then this horrible wod (SWIPE) give it a go it took me 31 minutes because I got killer ab cramp on the second run FLOP! @danny_cahalane got it done in 27 minutes 😩😫😳 absolute machine #love #training  #fun #happy #intensity #metcon #metabolicconditioning #instafit #properexercise #crossfitgirls #dailymotivation #blondieandbrownie #comp #compete #allgoodfun
