Dilani and I met on Instagram through @risingtidesociety and when she saw that Weston and I were traveling to Europe, she contacted me to see what dates we would be there. She and her boyfriend, Lucas, were planning to travel from the Netherlands to Paris around the same time as us! She asked if she could photograph us and I agreed as long as I could photograph them too. 😉 Aren’t they such a cute couple?? We had so much fun exploring Trocadéro and eating breakfast with our new friends! 💕
Hubby's birthday was yesterday, on the summer Solstice. How cool is that? Having a birthday on the longest day of the year! 🎂 I made him a vegan German Chocolate Cake that my fabulous friend Thea @thea.green posted way back at the end of February. When Thea posted her lovely cake along with the recipe, I was so excited about it!! 😍 I hadn't seen any double layer vegan cakes being made or posted up until then. My hubby used to love German Chocolate cake, so I knew that when his birthday rolled around, this is what I'd be baking for him to mark his special occasion.
Thea's cake did not disappoint!! It's soft, with a perfect cake like texture and tastes exactly the way a German Chocolate cake should taste. We all gave it a huge thumbs up 👍 I should have used Thea's date frosting recipe too. Instead, I wanted to do a classic gooey Coconut Pecan frosting. The frosting recipe came from Yup, it's Vegan. I think it's good, but hubby & son aren't crazy about the pecans on their chocolate cake. Needless to say, next time I will make Thea's frosting!! Thea has the recipe for this delicious cake on her page, posted February 26th 2018 (along with much nicer photos). Thanks so much Thea for sharing this fabulous cake recipe! If you don't know Thea yet, you definitely need to check out her page ~ full of yummy vegan goodness, tips on cruelty-free makeup and clothing, tips on raising a vegan kid, and fun family photos. She is so sweet, and is the type of person that ~ to know her is to love her 💖
I can't get people that think that these little souls are just ''animals''. Besides of coming to this world as a living creatures, they are just like us... They grow, play, they have fun and also feel sad, even if they're not able to speak, they have many ways to transmit their desires, express what they like to do and also their emotions. I just have to thank this little buddy for all the good times, all the fun and adventures together. You will live always in our hearts Chiquillo! 😿 .
