My Clothes 👕 @gymgeneration
Well this is me! Well most of me!
Full time level 3 personal trainer
Studying to become a qualified nutritionist
Along side advanced coaching and business
And up for fitness personality of year! .
What motivates me? Until recently, just the need/want to better myself and prove that I CAN do what I believe I’m able to do,
It goes deeper than that tho.
When I was a kid, I was bullied, I was bullied a lot, I was chased home from school, I was mocked for my skin tone, i used to laugh it off like I wasn’t bothered, I was, and I buried it! .
I used to play football for Chester town from the age of 10 upwards, I was an ok footballer, but I was about 6 stone and got pushed all over, I went to every single match, every season for about 5 years! In total I played about 3 games (appearances as substitute)
Every match I’d turn up and be as enthusiastic as the one before, and every time the manager shouted for a sub, I’d look up and hope it was me, it never was, except those three times! .
We went to end of season awards, best player, top scorer, etc etc! I got a trophy tho! For turning up every game, almost a pity trophy? Aw let’s give Owen a trophy for standing on the side lines in the freezing cold every week!
I buried the shame that I felt going to receive it,
Should I have been ashamed and felt belittled? Not really! because I turned up! Without fail, and even tho I didn’t get a game the week before, or the week before that............I turned the fuck up! .
Recently I realised that I wasn’t turning up, I was turning up in person yeah! But I wasn’t turning up in soul! I wasn’t bringing the enthusiasm to the day that I used to do back then, I wasn’t owning it, the kids I used to be bullied by are now, well they are what they are, successful? Following their dreams? NOPE! .
ME? Fuck yes and if no one reads this, I don’t really care, this is for me! And to prove that little guy that not only turning up, but turning up and owning the fuck out of it is going to take me to a whole new level of life! .
This is my call to action!!! .
Dynamic Stretch: Seated Double Straight Leg Hip Hinge
Muscles Stretched: Hamstrings, Calves and Glutes
Note: This stretch is partner assisted.
1. Sit on the ground with your legs fully extended and pressed together. Keep your toes in a flexed position.
2. Straighten your back by sticking your chest outward and pulling your shoulders back. Think about maintaining a tall spine.
3. Have the assistant place their hands on your shoulder blades, gently easing you forward into the stretched position. In doing so, make sure you are not rounding back, and that you are keeping your back as straight as possible as you hinge forward from the hip.
Note: it is important to communicate with your assistant as to avoid pushing beyond the point of muscle or tendon elasticity causing injury.
4. Once you get to a comfortable depth in your stretch with proper posture, hold for 3-5 seconds. The assistant will release tension for a brief moment, allowing the your muscles to relax before repeating.
5. Perform 10 reps of the stretch.
