📷: Punalu’u Bakery Taro French Toast
📝Review: Taro bread, applewood smoked bacon, macadamia nut crumble, salted coconut caramel, strawberries, vanilla whipped cream. This was kinda cool to have a taro French toast because it was different from anything I’ve had. Tasted like real taro bread that was a sweet yet savory dish. If you don’t enjoy taro and the texture of the taro, I wouldn’t recommend getting this. Please refer to the previous 3 posts (Spam dish) for additional restaurant details.
📷: Kalbi Loco Moco
📝Review: Slow braised Kalbi short rib, smoked honshimeji mushroom jus, sunny side up eggs, hearts of palm pico de gallo, short grain rice and pea tendrils. I expected to enjoy this dish a lot esp for the price but it wasn’t too memorable 😕 the short rib was soft and tender, but the sauce was just ok. 💰Cost: $7 for 3
📝Review: 3 Portuguese style doughnuts, coconut sugar, filled with guava custard. These were tinier than I expected, but I liked that it was smaller because malasadas are usually too much for me as 1 serving so I was glad it was smaller so I didn’t feel inclined to eat more! It was good, but a little too much sugar for me. Please see previous Spam dish post for additional restaurant details!
📷: Spam Musubi 💰Cost: $4.50 for one
📝Review: Boston Bibb lettuce, stone valley farms whole hog span, kimchi, whole grain rice, aioli, egg yolk furikake. I think I liked the Spam at Liholiho better. It’s good here, but I wasn’t feeling the whole combo of it all. The spam itself is pretty good but everything else about it was meh in my opinion. The sauce didn’t taste like an aioli, tasted like a teriyaki sauce to me. Came on a Saturday for brunch around 10:45am and there was an hour wait but it was quicker than 1 hour, probably because there’s so much other restaurants in the area and a lot of people left the waitlist so we got lucky 🤷🏻♀️ Parking was a little difficult on a weekend during the day but I came again for dinner on a weekend and it was super easy finding parking so I guess it depends! I’ll be posting about a couple other dishes from here as well so stay tuned :)
📷: Garden Scramble
💰Cost: $14 + $5 for Chicken Apple Sausage
📝Review: Spinach, tomato, garlic, basil pesto, grilled asparagus, Parmesan cheese and toast and hash browns, yum! I need my meat tho and since it’s normally a meat-free dish, I added the chicken apple sausage for an additional fee. It was a decent meal and I’d come back again but the service was soooo slow and we were the only ones in the restaurant! Came for lunch on a Wednesday around 12pm and I couldn’t believe how long it took for us to get waters and our food! I’m hoping it’s better now since they probably have more exposure since they serve matcha French toast and you know how word spreads when there’s something matcha related on the menu 😝 I would be back and I would wanna try the matcha French toast when I’m back! They accept reservations so it doesn’t hurt to make them! But from what I see, esp on weekdays, you prob don’t need them. Parking isn’t difficult on weekdays but it might be on weekends since it’s on Valencia Street.
Las Vegas Edition:
📷: Slut (left) and Sausage, Egg and Cheese (right)
💰Cost: Slut: $10.50; Sausage, Egg and Cheese: $8.50
❤️Rating: Slut: 3.75/5; Sausage, Egg and Cheese: 3.5/5
📝Review: Lets start with the Slut. There were so many raving reviews about this since it’s something different and yes, it’s pretty decent and different since it’s like a super soft/runny egg with potato purée and baguette slices to complement it but is it really $10.50 worth?! Come on... it’s more expensive that a breakfast sandwich lol. It’s good and different, but if I were hungry, I’d order a sandwich over this. Onto the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich.. it’s basic and pretty plain but I admit I really do love the buns. I love brioche buns so if it were on any old bread/bun, I wouldn’t order this because there’s nothing special to it. Their sauce is cool but not flavorful enough to make me line up and pay so much for it when I can easily buy the ingredients and heat it up myself. Overall, decent if you’re lazy and don’t mind spending on this but be prepared to wait in line. Maybe the hype has died down since I’ve been back to Vegas, but I went on a weekday afternoon around 3pm and I still had to wait in line. They also have a location in Los Angeles as well that’s super popular! I think that location tasted better IMO but they have a ridiculously long line too when I went on a weekend at 9am.
Las Vegas Edition: 📷: Pork Ramen
📝Review: Being in Vegas and not wanting to leave the strip for some much needed (hangover-cure) noodle soup, I wanted to try this spot since they’re so well known in New York. Overpriced and mediocre (at best) noodle soup 😔 I’m glad I tried it to say that I’ve tried it, but I think I’ll stick with Noodle Asia in Venetian lol. A bit cheaper and tastes more authentic (although how authentic can you get when it’s on the strip). Maybe New York’s is better but I haven’t had the chance to check it out there. Went here on a weekend around 3pm and there was no line but it wasn’t empty so we ordered and sat at the bar. Service was not good either :( bummerrr
📷: American Kobe-Style Beef Tartare
📝Review: Beef tartare is something I always like to order whenever I see it on the menu.. I know it’s raw but it’s so good! I understand the texture and flavor isn’t for everyone.. but for the people who enjoy it, this one is good but not the best I’ve had. If I were to dine here again, I’d order it again just because I love beef tartare! I couldn’t tell the difference in the type of meat they used since they usually don’t list that it’s American Kobe beef at other restaurants. Please refer to previous post about French onion soup for additional restaurant details 😋
📷: French Onion Soup
📝Review: I’ve had around 6 French Onion Soups on my recent trip to Paris and thinking back on this soup, it wasn’t memorable but look at that cheese 😍 Plus, the price is so ridiculous for the small little soup you get.. Overall, I’d skip this soup but the service was good and it’s a cute little French restaurant. My girlfriends made a reservation for my birthday here and I’m glad they did because it started getting crowded during dinner time. Parking can be tough in this neighborhood.
Ristretto Beef Spaghetti $6.90. What's so special about this spaghetti? The ristretto beef of course! A beef marinated in COFFEE! Yeah you read that right. Coffee. It is a little bit spicy but, if you are a coffee guy you will definitely enjoy this dish! 🍝
Found a new breakfast place close to home! @rasaceriacafe.bn in Telanai Avenue. The nasi lemak special is pretty good! Comes with a not too spicy sambal, crispy fried chicken and a flavorful and succulent beef rendang. 🤤

📷: Fried Chicken Sandwich
📝Review: Fried chicken sandwich with cabbage and romaine slaw, secret hot sauce on the side (in the cute little bottle) and fries! The sandwich is nice and crispy and tasty. The hot sauce complements the sandwich really well and it’s not too spicy but gives it a nice kick. This place has communal table seating downstairs but there’s also an upstairs dining area with full table service. You can make reservations which I recommend. It’s located on van ness by Market street so I recommend taking public transportation or parking a few blocks away if you prefer to drive. Not much parking within a block radius.
📷: Duck Confit
📝Review: Duck confit with vegetables. I think I could’ve done without this dish. I really enjoy duck but this was a little dry for my liking. The sauce was just ok. It tasted fine but I guess I was just expecting something a little more moist and flavorful. I’d skip this dish for my next visit. I really enjoyed their appetizers here rather than the main courses. Please see previous Steak Tartare post for additional restaurant details (2 posts before this post)
