Woke up with the head cold that's been going around my office. Added up planned runs for the week, and cut today at 6. Going to focus on rest and recovery, and the dive back in Tuesday!

Trial short run to see if the pain in my foot has gone away. I took a week off from running and HIIT because I really don’t know what I’ve done or how I did it but the left top part of the foot was hurting when I put pressure on it. It was so sticky and muggy and my legs feel totally buggered. I had intended to do some race pace miles in the middle but I just didn’t have it in the legs. This is 4 days of running in a row and I know this doesn’t seem like much but my poor legs just aren’t used to it!

I didn't knowing was going to run today but I felt guilty this afternoon for not going out so got my running gear on and took Dillon for 7miles

I had no pace in mind and hardly looked at my watch. I just wanted to keep it steady / easy and to have enough energy to get up most of the hills.

Turned out to be a little warmer than I thought and so flipping muggy. Luckily there were rain puddles for Dillon and a river stop as well. .
I still have tomato face even after being home an hour .

Smiling because finally I finished a long run feeling like I could had gone a couple more miles and I’m over the moon just to think about it 🙌🏻🏃🏽‍♀️⚡️

Solo Long Runs are harder mentally.. the last two long runs before this one were really hard for me so I tried to do a couple things differently this time to make sure I was IN the game the whole run: .
- Hubby offered to join me on his bike so he had @nuunhydration and my fueling choices ready for me during the run 💕 this was such an amazing help, the water stops were really fast and on the go 👌🏻👌🏻
- I had my coffee before my long run like I used to do it long time ago but I stopped since I’m breastfeeding and I have to control my caffeine intake.. having that coffee really worked to get ready to rock!!
-Brought music with me for the last miles to focus on getting excited and happy!! I used to run with music until I felt in love with running in the silence, watching the sunrise and listing to my breathing 🙌🏻 But, let’s be honest, when your mind is playing tricks on you, you gotta do something to stay away from useless thoughts so I just listened to my fave music as loud as possible and it worked! I ran pretty strong the last 5 miles 💪🏻👊🏻

Everything went really good until my @garminfitness turned off at 15.9 mile mark 😩 I did the other 2.01 miles and maybe more without watch and feeling pretty solid !! A few days back I uninstall a watch face app thinking this was the problem but apparently is not and now I’m worried because I need to fix this problem ASAP for my next long run and race day 😰 any suggestions? I guess I will call Garmin today!

Feeling very grateful that I get to do these runs with @cdwsn and run every race for the 1 in 3 women (and 1 in 2 disabled women) who will be raped in their lifetime. This run didn't scare me as much as the past two weeks, but I knew it was still going to be tough. 21 miles. 8 laps around a 2.5 mile loop.  This was a mental run.  My body was 100% ready, but my head wanted to quit so many times. My legs were hurting. I was running at 7:50 instead of 7:45. Do I really want to run yet another loop? But I've gotten more much stronger than that part of my brain. I stayed relaxed and hammered through.

When I finally stopped my watch and saw my overall pace for 21 freaking miles, I celebrated! And then I cried in front of the 5kers running a race in the same park.  That is the feeling I'm looking forward to having after running 26.2. 💜

Running has never been my forte, and is still what I consider to be my biggest weakness. But this year I’ve logged over 200 miles to improve.

What I’ve found most helpful are the tips you see above, my inner thoughts when running. Focusing on good form and staying as relaxed as possible makes it much more enjoyable.

I prefer running outdoors but during the week it’s not an option with my little one. So I’ve embraced treadmill runs to easily track intervals and add incline. I’ve still got miles to go, but I’m lightyears ahead of where I was last year. ONWARD!

Who am I to wear that I thought. Who am I to wear a top emblazed with a word I don't associate with myself. Am I coming across conceited or egotistical? But then I thought sod it

I am beautiful. To my children I have beautiful cuddles, arms that have wrapped round them for over a decade through any tears and fears. I am the face who has loved them and nourished them and cared for them, and to them I am beautiful

I am beautiful. To my boyfriend, I have a beautiful soul, a beautiful face, a beautiful body. I am there to support him, love him, and cherish him (and make fun of him 😂) To him I am beautiful

Listen to them a little bit more. Be more proud. And tell someone else they're beautiful. Because it matters, boy or girl, adult or child. We all need to be told sometimes

Another 16 miler today (my farthest distance so far) but I’m more proud of this one! My last one was all easy paced. Today I had 4 miles up (10:30ish), 7 at GMP (9:50-10:00), 1 recovery, another 3 at GMP, and 1 mi down. Other than a little soreness towards the end, the run went great and I nailed my paces! Most GMP miles were actually slightly faster, so I’m thrilled with that. 9 weeks to go until #venturamarathon! 🏃🏽‍♀️I’m coming for that 4:30 (or quicker!) @venturamarathon .

I had one of those epic moments on the trail today, the kind that you hear about in Lifetime movies and think: well someone’s being a bit dramatic. . . . I broke down, very epically around mile 4. My adductor felt mostly okay today, but still a bit tight in the hip flexor. Crazy humid this morning, but still felt pretty darn good! If my leg stays okay with easy runs this week, I’m hoping I’ll be able to start easing back into marathon training next week. .

Thank goodness this is over. I woke up and had a terrible case of the "Don't wanna"s. 😩 I have heard talking about "girl time" is taboo when it comes to female athletes but I don't care. This was the first time I was REALLY affected. I stopped 1x for the BR and had a few minor breath stops due to elevation and asthma. Being able to run easily at 6k feet has erased all my concerns for @st.george.marathon -  really thinking there is something to training in the heat and humidity that helps. I am super grateful for this community. It is always a place of support and encouragement. Even when I have shared some ugly and hard things, there is still kindness and love. Good advice, input, and perspective as well. I have made real friendships through here, like @browneyedrunner, @colletteleiter, @cait_jacobsen, and @uberthons, and when we have met up it feels like we have known each other forever. I have also had the pleasure of meeting so many of you at actual races (@happyrunningmom1, @nurserunner, @jaimerunspdx , @hardworkcleanliving, @pinkfeathers, @runjwebb, @airrunlewis and more) and been able to watch you run and cheer you on as you kick some racing booty. Running is a bond we share. You are accepted and belong, no matter your running ability, age, size, color, etc. We are all sharing in the misery and magic that is running. Come as you are, you belong here. There is generosity and care. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone and especially wanted to THANK @oregondogdr (and your father-in-law!)! He shortened the warm-up by 2 miles and adjusted target paces. I was supposed to have 9 miles of quality, progressive pace. All I had to give today was 6 miles quality, not even progressive really. I struggled and fought to hold on. There was vitriol and there were a few tears. I suffered. I was frustrated with myself. I wanted to quit so badly. Coach didn’t give up on me and B rode ahead giving me a smaller goal. Just make it to B. Both boys were so good to me. They let me say I hate them. They listened to my F bombs. They told me I could, when I said “I can’t.” It was not a good day, out there, for me but, I’m SO grateful I had B and coach by my side. They believed in me when I felt like I had 0 to give. They let me melt down and then said “keep going.” That is the kind of push I need. Running is such a mental sport and my mental game is so weak. I’m going to keep working on it, keep focusing and keep putting one foot in front of the other. The bad ones make us really appreciate the good ones, right? 😜 Thanks again to @brentdcallahan and @coach_marty_runs for putting up with me today! I desperately needed your support even if I said I didn’t want it 🙈😝 I hope all of you have a support system like mine!

LAUNCH SEQUENCE INITIATED: Yesterday marked 16 weeks to go until @irunrocketcity. Today we did our first 16-mile long run of the training cycle. I would say it was planned that way, but we are most definitely not going to have shorter visits to the Church of the Sunday Long Run as the training cycle progresses 😂

We started grooving a little bit earlier than usual this morning, so I took that as an opportunity for an aerobic finish. My 12th mile came in at 7:11, followed by 7:05, 7:03, 6:53 and 6:40. It is always a bit of a shock to see a sub-7 mile in the middle of a long run, but I love to see them at the end.

Let me take this moment to introduce you to @micheparks, who needs no introduction around the New Orleans running scene. Michelle, who is a mother of three, is a regular fixture atop the local podium (She won the 2015 @ccc10k four months after having her 2nd child) and has a sub-2:50:00 marathon to her credit. She is training for CIM, one week before we’re on the grind in Huntsville, Alabama. Michelle wants to get that OTQ (sub-2:45:00) and I have no doubt she’ll achieve it.

You can probably see, based on how drenched my shorts are, that it was pretty humid out there this morning. I can’t wait for cooler temperatures, but fall PRs are made in the summer heat and humidity, so let’s get it!

What do you do when plan A doesn’t happen? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Get it done anyway!! 😜 .•
Call it plan B if you want, but this run had to happen. No excuses!! I somehow set my alarm for a weekday and woke up almost 2 hours late!😭 I jumped up and rushed out the door no food, just coffee! The sun was already peaking over the horizon! ☀️ I knew it was going to be a hot one!! I really wanted to be done before the sun came up to avoid more heat, oh well I guess I needed the sleep! At least this has never happen on a race day!! I actually felt really good on this run until the last few miles my heart rate started creeping up! 2 gallons of sweat later, I’m sure it was just dehydration. This heat training will come in handy for the Virginia Beach, Rock n Roll half 2 weeks from today!! On a side note.... I’m in love with these new @zensah compression sleeves I got in the mail yesterday!! I mean, if all else fails at least you can look cute! Right? 🤷🏼‍♀️😂Lol! •

Holiday HM training
First day of our family holiday in The Lakes. Not sure of the area yet and it was raining, so I stuck to the start of my plan and had an easy(ish) three miles on the roads round where we are staying. 
The road was constantly up and down not straight at any point, some of the hills felt almost vertical. I saw some trails to run off on, but I had my road runners on rather than my trails shoes, but those trails are getting run on in the next week. They look like they will be a good challenge. The hills at home are a challenge, but the Lake District is a whole different matter. 
Been in to Keswick for a Sunday Roast and now going for a walk next to Bassenthwaite Lake with my babies. It’s beautiful round here and I should get some better pictures of the Lake now the rain has gone.

Sunday long run! ✅ A rest day yesterday was exactly what I needed. An easy morning and breakfast with bae, a long catch up with a good friend (hi @steve.y1 👋🏻!!), and an easy evening with friends was the reset button my body wanted. I was a little slow moving this morning, but some insta motivation got me going and I NAILED THIS!! 🏃🏻‍♀️

See story for splits, but 15 perfect miles of progression (9:59 -> 8:28!!). Ran through campus for probably one of the last times this summer since the undergrads come back this week! It’s so calm and quiet there right now but it’s about to be crazy!!!

Tossed in a cool down mile as well, so 16 total miles today and just over 35 miles for week 9!! We’re officially HALFWAY through this cycle and in 9 weeks I will be in Detroit crossing the finish line!

Four stroller miles to start and then grandma saved the day as he was just not having it. 12.5 miles total and I don’t even know how I pulled those paces. It’s about to get serious when the ponytail gets tightened. I have been trying for 95# forever and I said today “let’s just try going for one rep,” but once that felt “easy” we went for three. Every Sunday I do bench press at the facility, and with the program I have been doing at home, I’m definitely seeing my strength increase as I finally hit this PR on bench! As you can see by my smile at the end, I was not expecting this and was completely shocked.
It’s about to get serious when the ponytail gets tightened. I have been trying for 95# forever and I said today “let’s just try going for one rep,” but once that felt “easy” we went for three. Every Sunday I do bench press at the facility, and with the program I have been doing at home, I’m definitely seeing my strength increase as I finally hit this PR on bench! Added in stretching, more compression and running on soft surfaces for today's run. I think it's helped and I felt mostly pain free, but could tell if I went faster or further it might not have been great. This weekend I initially planned my 10 mile long run with a couple tempo miles thrown in, but didn't feel right. I'm hoping maybe another week of more easy running and attention to rehabbing will be a better investment than trying to plow throw a potential injury. 6 weeks until the first half the season! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️
