She said Ok, but imagine you’re in a really, bad mood, but someone you SUPER respect rings the doorbell. Could you just flip it, and change to be a nice person who answers the door?
Chances are, yes! And she was right!
Regardless of what it is that started your spiral, you can flip it, and change that feeling to be in line with what you want your day to look like.
This simple trick can change your life. ✨
Remember you are powerful enough to create whatever it is you want in your life and this will help you.

My name is Aurora. My sobriety date is 8-21-2016. Alcohol didn’t become a part of my lifestyle until I went away to college. When drinking I felt less timid and I was able to ease my social anxiety. That is how my use started. However, when my mother passed away 5 years later, I began to drink to numb the pain. I turned my back on my higher power and chose alcohol as my go to coping mechanism. I couldn’t see my use as excessive or wrong considering my circumstances and my young age. Unbeknownst to me I was an alcoholic from the beginning. As the years progressed I began to drink daily and even hid the copious amounts of consumption. I was a highly functional alcoholic. I continued to struggle with anxiety and depression as the years passed. I couldn’t seem to stop this vicious cycle. I felt I needed a higher purpose. What I really needed was a higher power. It wasn’t until I was halfway through Nursing School that I realized I didn’t really know how to cope with life. While in the nursing program I rarely drank and was miserable. My coping mechanism couldn’t serve me here. I also realized that Nursing wasn’t my passion after all. It was a cry to save my life. I thought a higher purpose would squash my desire to drink. Still the desire was there. I left the nursing program and returned to the beauty industry. I thought I needed more time to work on myself. Yet still I was so miserable. How could this be when I seemed to have everything going for me? I couldn’t shut off my head. After 2 years of TRYING to control my drinking every which way, I surrendered to my higher power. I planned a two day good bye party to say que sera sera to alcohol forever. After the two day binge I went to an AA meeting shaking and filled with anxiety coupled with DTS (delirium tremens). I was a hungover mess but I knew I was home. ‘I’m Home and it’s going to be okay!!’

While I knew he was coming from A good place,
I wasn’t ready to address my anger, pain, or sadness.
My healing journey could not be rushed or forced by him, myself or others
It had to be something that I was genuinely ready to do.
It took a long time for me to be ready.
Sometimes I wish I had started this journey to healing earlier, because it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself.
