Took this beauty last night while it was lightly raining. I drove out to lampasas and parked on the side of the road to climb up a hill and snap this photo. I probably looked like a lunatic to those passing. This was a 2 minute exposure taken at f/4.5 iso 100.
Try as I might, I couldn’t find the perfect image to send out a birthday greeting to my sweet friend, Vania.
Earlier this year, we rode donkeys into Mexico...I was going to post one of those and then realized, I don’t know what photos she might have of me. Then I had one of us chasing down the ice cream truck on Galveston Island, had to nix that one too...we both looked a little rough. Then there was the time that we took photos of a horse’s rear end cause well it was decorated in glitter...but again, not sure what photos she has of me that would come back to haunt me.
So here’s me, playing it SAFE because Vania grew up in south Texas and you shouldn’t get in a tangle with a girl from south Texas.
Happy Birthday to my lovely pal, @vaniafelan. I hope that you had a fun day and rest assured that a super nice birthday greeting is waiting for you in a DM. 😜
P.S. I also grew up in south Texas. 🤠
Old picture, new edit... Still not back on my feet, but should be next week. A big thank you to everyone for the well-wishes... ..... Lately I’ve been putting together a few images for the 2019 Calendar. This needs to be in there I am told, but the original had too much light pollution and didn’t print well. ......
Due to my inability to walk in the dark, I am still homebound with my foot elevated, so I'm throwing back to Fall of 2016 with this one. Taken at one of my go-to Texas State Parks, Guadalupe River State Park - Texas Parks & Wildlife. Just love seeing a tree growing out of a dead tree :) #Red5Photo#myTexas#TBT#inspiretexasnow
I found a solution to dealing with the Texas Summer heat, posting old images... 😐
This was taken early 2017 and is a shot of the back side of the Texas State Capitol Building. The "Inside Out" has got to be one of my favorite parts of the capital, just love the details... 🤘🏽 #Red5Photo#myTexas#inspiretexasnow
This is my third time going back to the same area on the lake, I'm really not sure why though. A lot of people have commented on how the shots seem so dark and just see old dead trees that have been claimed by the lake.
For me, there is wonderful detail in the textures of the sunbleached wood that draws you into the clear blue-green water. The contrast from the dark brown sandy dirt and the backlit clouds above. I don't see dead limbs and dried decaying wood at all. I just see a beautiful morning on the lake.
The Faust Street Bridge in New Braunfels is over 100 years old, 640 feet long, and in 1887 cost Comal County just over $33,000.00. It spans the Guadalupe River and is a weekend hotspot for families trying to get some relief from the Texas Summer sun.
This shot was taken early morning just before sunrise, which is my favorite time to visit. The clean rustic lines of the bridge are so much easier to enjoy before the pitter-patter of flipflops show up. :) #Red5Photo#blockai#myTexas#myNewBraunfels#inspiretexasnow
I am SO disappointed! Last year, a friend helped me find this wonderful field of happy yellow flowers, and I was looking forward to revisiting it for a few shoots this year. After a quick drive by to see how they looked this year, not a flower in sight... So... I am turning to the smartest people I know. If you know of any large fields of Sunflowers in Texas and the Hill Country, Help a brethren out... 🙏🏽 #inspiretexasnow
Gorman Falls - Tucked away in the Texas Hill Country, between Lampasses and San Saba is one of my favorite Texas Parks, Colorado Bend State Park. It's a little over a mile hike to the falls, but very well worth it.
It's amazing what a little time outdoors will do for the soul. A little sun on your face, rolling water in your ears, and Texas in your eyes... Guadalupe days can fix just about anything.
