The scapulothoracic joint (interaction between the shoulder blades and rib cage) is an important component of the shoulder complex. When shoulder pain is present, make sure you do not neglect this area.
In these videos, exercises that are designed to help improve scapular positioning are demonstrated. These are often helpful in terms of reducing pain and/or clicking that someone may be experiencing during shoulder movement.
1️⃣Pec Minor Release: the pectoralis minor muscle can pull the scapula into a position of anterior tippping, which is often thought to be associated with altered scapular mechanics. By massaging the pec minor first, it may be easier to actively position the scapula before engaging in other exercises.
2️⃣Anterior Myofascial Wall Flexibility: These simple snow angels on the ground or a foam roller can be used to stretch the pecs and the rest of the anterior chest, which can help the scapula tip posteriorly and sit in a more neutral position.
3️⃣Motor Control: The goal in this drill is to teach your nervous system how to tip the scapula posteriorly as many of us naturally sit in a position of increased anterior tipping. With each of the next exercises, try to maintain this new position.
4️⃣Serratus Anterior Activation: this wall drill helps one learn how the serratus anterior muscle naturally works in function. The goal here is to try to move the shoulder blades through upward rotation (think about the bottom point of your shoulder blade spinning out to the side of your body).
5️⃣Serratus Anterior Strengthening: now that you know what it feels like to rotate the scapula using serratus, we will add body weight in order to strengthen the muscle.
6️⃣Loaded Row: lastly, the goal with this rowing exercise is to take what you have learned about positioning the scapula and integrate it into a more traditional strengthening exercise like the row. So, don’t let the scapula tip or roll forward, but instead tip it back and pull it toward your spine as the arm draws in during the row.

Summer season is over for me. Before European championships I felt something wrong in my inner tight in last preparation training. After EC I went to MRI and it turned out to be partial tear in adductor longus muscle. Now it’s time to recover and focus next big goals. Had to take about 3 months off from the gym due to elbow injury and started back on July 11. Had a goal to gain 10lbs of muscle in a month and I failed. Only gained 9. More charged than ever to work towards my next month goal of putting on another 5lb-10lb (at least), while decreasing body fat. I have a long way to go until I reach my ultimate fitness goal of being @therock but I guess I’ll settle for being “the pebble” for now 😂💪🏾🗿 want to encourage everyone to simply improve daily! Steroid Injections for Tennis Elbow
Used to be a go to treatment, with health practitioners and GPs often sticking the needle in without any prior conservative management, Physio etc.
Does this work?
Well you might get some pain relief for a short time.
However.... The research shows us that this can often make you worse in the long term.
Bisset et al 2006
Success rate: injection versus Physio
3 weeks 75% vs 24%
6 weeks 80% vs 65%
12 weeks 45% vs 75%
52 weeks 60% vs 90%
Steroid injection delayed healing and had a 72% recurrence rate.
Physio over 90% recovery at 52 weeks and 8% recurrence rate. Even just waiting and seeing over injection was similar to this.

Injection - 55% recurrence rate
Injection and Physio - 54% recurrence rate
Placebo - 20% recurrence rate
Placebo and Physio - 5% recurrence rate
- Exhaust physiotherapy and rehab, give it everything and give it the time, depending on how far progressed symptoms are it could take 3-4 months. Mobilisations with movement + exercise recommended. - Get a second opinion. Often Physio fails because we don’t load it up enough in the strength work. - If all this fails and a steroid injection is utilised then ensure you have the correct rehab plan in place after with loading progressions. MUST rehab after otherwise long term you could be worse.

Health and fitness V Illness and injury.
Obviously we want to be as healthy as possible and as far away from injury and sickness as possible.
However, many people believe that that these two opposites lie at the end of an infinite spectrum which is linear and the fitter you become the further you are from illness and injury etc.
But this is not the case, there comes a point specifically around the time when people decide to compete to win at competitions that the more training and stress they place upon themselves the further they are going away from optimal health. While their fitness may be improving, they may be getting overuse injuries, mental fatigue and become anti-social and borderline depressed due to hormonal imbalances etc.
Some athletes at the CrossFit games are as healthy and as mobile as those in a nursing home as they suffer from serious injuries and need hours of deep tissue work each week to keep them moving.

What can I say? Ben Johnson. Former two time Lou Marsh winner, multiple world record holder, world champion, Olympic medalist.. And currently the coach of Nick Laporte (still seems like a dream some days). I was very fortunate to be given this opportunity last fall when we met for the first time. His career achievements are known around the world, but possibly one of his greatest accomplishments is the kind of person he is, on and off the track. He has given so much back to the sport since his retirement. After meeting Ben last September I have learned so much about him, about the sport and about myself. We had our hopes set on competing in May of this year and establishing myself as an elite level sprinter. Unfortunately a series of injuries halted that. I will be the first to admit that I struggled to stay positive after my injury. I questioned if I would ever get my chance to shine, I doubted my abilities. I mean, a 28 year old with no running history who has yet to compete in a race? How could you not? What’s truly gotten me through all of it has been Ben. This guy really believes that I can be a world champion. That means something coming from the former worlds fastest man. All of this time off, healing my body, I was also healing my mind. Месяц в гипсе это конечно тяжеловато, но людей и на большее время гипсуют. Человек при серьезных переломах сталкивается со многими проблемами и ограничениями- сам перелом (зачастую выброс адреналина заглушает боль и человека, как бы оглушает - некая защитная реакция организма), операция, гипс, перевязки, снятие швов - да и гипс фиксируюет не только поврежденный участок, а ещё и близ расположенные. После длительной носки гипса, «каменеют» все суставы зафиксированные им. Вот и мне теперь придётся разрабатывать кисть. А каково с гипсом в быту (это жесть)- я только 3 недели к нему привыкал - мне ещё повезло, сломал правую 👌😂
Но унывать не стоит, светит солнце 😎 и мы в этот же день стартанули с семьей на велопрогулку- месяц этого момента ждал 😁. (Велики за месяц запылились). Народ не забываем про спорт и главное осторожней - ломаться не надо 😉
