Mountain pose or downward dog? 🤔 my mind was blown when our teacher called this Parvatasana (Mountain⛰) because the whole world called it downward dog. But then he told us to think about a dog doing down dog. To watch the curve of their back. And then it made sense. In Parvatasana, the line from hands to hip are straight, whereas in down dog (pic 2), the line curves inwards as the forehead or crown reaches he ground. It’s a completely different asana with a very different feel, especially around the shoulders.

We don't use our body to get into a pose; we use the pose to get into our body.
It's so important to have this awareness and bring it into your own practice.
Regardless if you are a beginner or a long time yogi, we still have to be mindful in our yoga practice and not push ourselves or our bodies beyond its boundaries or the boundaries of the mind.

For so long I’ve worried I’m running out of time, that I need to always be doing, always learning, always growing, always achieving.
Yep, I’m going to own it this morning and confess: “I’ve been unconsciously conscientious pretty much my whole life”.
Always striving for more, never feeling enough, addicted to acquiring knowledge, helping me to take that next step.
Cup half-full, never empty, but never enough.
It’s the little me, she’s the driver, the one that had to try really hard at school to keep up, to be clever, to think the same as everyone else and achieve the same grades as everyone else to feel worthy and good enough.
The one that always received a school report that says “Hannah is very conscientious”, it made up for for all my “failings”, that word was the reward for not being enough.
There is nothing wrong with being conscientious, but when I’m riding the conscientious wave constantly I know I’m a time-traveller, I’m not in the moment, I’m in the future, trying to predict the output, any achievement. I’m not here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t feel like I’m alone here, we all feel pressure, pressure to be more, to live more, to create more.
Ask yourself are you being driven by what looks good on the outside or what feels like true joy and happiness on the inside.
What I’m learning more and more is that I desire my space, I’ve written about it every month in my Moon journal. I’m craving it, like I need to just be, to consolidate, to absorb, to marinade, to play, to dance, to stop working so damn hard, to appreciate this whole journey, to live fully alive.

Siamo qui a modo nostro assieme sperimentando giorno dopo giorno un nuovo modo di vivere i nostri spazi, ma la nostra quotidianità manca tantissimo anche a me.
Mi mancano tutte quelle piccole cose che caratterizzavano le nostre giornate e che distrattamente potevano sembrare banalità, ma adesso che non ci sono mi mancano come l’aria.
Essere mamma implica sacrifici fin da subito, ed io lo so... eccome se lo so...
Eppure mi sento quasi in colpa a non poterti vivere nella tua routine quotidiana, mi spiace tantissimo... Sei stato fortissimo durante questi lunghissimi mesi ma adesso inizia a pesare tanto anche a te questa mia “distanza” apparente; ci sono amore mio ci sono sempre, solo che a volte non mi vedi più al tuo fianco in ogni istante come un tempo, ma io credimi... sono lì... 💞
Ricordi quando mi dici: «Mamma noi siamo una squadra!» allora Bimbo mio adesso che la “fatica” e la “stanchezza” iniziano a farsi sentire, dobbiamo impegnarci ancor di più... e dobbiamo farlo assieme!

In looking at my wounds and dark depths lies the greatest power.
I realized that no conventional type of therapy whatsoever will ever get me to the place of deep insight where yoga, meditation and other spiritual practices take me.
And sometimes it’s even more than that. ✨ Sometimes the gems are so complex and hidden so deep beneath layers of darkness, dust and dirt that calling upon some even higher forces for help gets me to see. And I am ever grateful for this.

Your hips may be tight from sitting down all day and you must prioritise movement safety and efficiency before adding weight.
Everyone says stretching before training decreases your strength gains. If you aren't even hitting depth and safely, you have no business in adding weight. You're more likely to injure yourself. .
The Spider-Man lunge is a great way to check in with your current hip mobility. .
From a standing position:
🔸Standing roll down and reach your hands to the floor without bending your knees
🔸inch worm your way out into a push up position
🔸bring your left leg forward next to your left hand
🔸drop down into your left elbow or as close as you can
🔸come up into both hands again and lift your right arm up to the ceiling
🔸lower your right arm back to the floor and then raise your left arm up to the ceiling
🔸lower your left arm back to the floor and inch worm your hands back towards your feet and finishing with your standing roll up
🔸Repeat with your other leg
Repeat this for a total of 2-3 times on each side.
Breathe 2-3 breathes for each part and try not to rush the movement.
