FROST IS COMING.
Hello my plant friends! Hopefully you all have started to bring in your plants that are not cold hardy, and found the perfect spots for them to stay cozy until spring! I want to share with you, my tips to bringing in your plants!
1. spray your plants for unwanted critters.
2. Clean out any debris or leaves.
3. Replant now, if you need to.
When you bring in your plants, be mindful of where you place your plants.
1. Stay away from vents that could dry out your plants.
2. Place them in a window that gets enough light to suit your plants (orchids, ivy like north facing; cacti, succulents like south facing windows)
3. With the heat running all winter, the air will be dry. Grouping plants, misting your plants, or placing a tray with pebbled water under your plants will help replace that humidity that is lost.
Water very seldomly during the winter. Houseplants slow down growing in the winter, so they don't need as much water. Houseplants do not want to be cold and wet, so when you do water, water towards the middle of your plant and do not soak it. Hold out on fertilizing as well.
Pay close attention to your plants. Mealy bugs, fungus gnats, aphids can infest and kill your plants, and also spread quickly to your other lovely plants.
So that's what I got right now! If you have any questions, or have your own tips and tricks you want to share, comment below!
