The USPS delayed a wholesale order of Christmas yarn. It has finally come back to me and they will be going into the shop later today! So if there is a Christmas color you missed out on this will Be your last chance!
Decided I needed a scrappy blanket ❤ and who doesn't love a good granny stripe!
I also wanted to say how grateful I am for each and every one of you that shopped last night's restock 🤗 I mean...😍😍 my heart is full!
There are still just a handful of a few colorways left. And in case you missed it, I'll be restocking the Weasleys throughout the week, so keep an eye out!!
“I wish I was an indie dyer like you! It must be so amazing to just play with yarn all day!” So many people say this to me at fiber shows and online. I’m here to correct that for you. I LOVE my job. And I’d LOVE to see more people doing it. But what don’t we do? We don’t “play with yarn all day.” This job is a serious one. It’s a business. And running a small business solo is hard. It’s not always fun, and it’s not always easy. .
What we do isn’t a cute hobby to pass the time when our partners are at the “real jobs.” Working from home takes an amount of discipline and chunks of time that some folks can’t even begin to imagine. .
Indie dyers work from the time we open our eyes until well after the rest of the business world has long since done their dishes and headed to bed. We often have lunches like Cheeze-Its and the cold coffee we’ve been re-microwaving since 7:15 AM. And we wouldn’t change it for the world! .
But if you think an indie dyed skein of yarn costs too much and we’re getting rich off of the yarn lovers out there, please understand that this just isn’t so! For the time we put into this, most of us make far below minimum wage. We’d love to welcome you into our professional fold - my fellow dyers are the best people I know, and we’d do anything for each other. But this scene here is how we spend most of our days. Administrative desk work, just like the folks with the “real” jobs! It’s 99% paperwork, and 1% dyeing. Someone has to do all of the advertising, labeling, order packing, shipping, and usually, it’s the one business owner who wears all those hats! .
I do this because I couldn’t imagine life without doing this, not because I want to play all day. ❤️Even the paperwork is part of my passion. If you can skip breakfast, sweat in the kitchen when it’s 400 degrees outside, and answer emergency yarn emails after midnight when you can feel your pillows beckoning you, then this may be your calling, too!
Anyone else a little anxious about the real amount of procrastinating in the gift knitting dept?? 🙋♀️🤦♀️ to remedy my own procrastination I ordered a new super bulky, super plush, super soft base in hopes for a few quick gift knits and I fell in love with this base. So, of course I had to share with all of you lovely people! You can find Plump Merino on 2 colorways (wanderlust & swirly twirly gumdrops) this evening, 7pm CST along with some very festive skeins, including A Very Vintage Christmas on Bramble BFL in case you wanted to stock up for the Scrooge's House Socks pattern that drops in my ravelry store this Saturday!!! See y'all later 😉
Shrieking Violet is back in stock! Just three skeins available on our Squishy Sock base. I’m so excited to hit the dye pots this week. And kind of obsessed with No Frills sweater and Kobuk hat possibilities. So our next shop update will have lots of Fluff (kid mohair+silk) ✨✨✨
I don’t know what it is about red that makes me think of Christmas (I mean, green is a Christmas color too!), but that’s how it is! My whole house is decorated in red for the holidays. So when I saw these three Harry Potter inspired colorways together, it just felt like a holiday accessory ready to be made! Fresh Parchment, Owl Post, and Remembrall on Pride, ready to ship!
• got a crocheter to buy for this Christmas? • these bauble kits are a double whammy - a project to make right away using beautiful hand-dyed merino wool; AND the crochet hook and project bag can be used again and again 🖤
I am lucky enough to have three very special boys in my life, one to whom I gave birth and two of which I stumbled upon with great fortune. This little sweater is for sweet Julien. It just needs sleeves. I know he would have preferred red, so I hope the red arrows suffice. With perseverance, it should be done by Christmas 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
LITTLE WOMEN! Are your needles eagerly anticipating Lit Society’s December installment of #littlewomen as much as ours are? Club signups are open and packages will ship around the 17th. And there will definitely be extra colorways this month. I was going to try not to since it’s a busy month. But really, how could I not? December club members get a Little Women inspired skein plus all 2018 and 2019 members will get first shot at the March sisters when they’re ready later in the month. 😍🧶😍
