So much for mousing help on the farm today as Gray Kitty gave me his version of ‘talk to the hand’ when I made my request.
Oh well, lucky day for those field mice as I continue to pull tarps and plant. 👩🌾🌻
If you have had Bent Arrow eggs recently, there is a very good chance that your eggs were collected by this mini farmer. He loves the chickens and has clearly been watching when we do chores because he knows exactly what needs to get done. Our little old soul takes his “job” very seriously... but, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a little boy having a blast. This week we caught him yelling “Get me! Get me!” while running around with the hens. 😂. Want to get insider stories like this? Discount codes and giveaways? The first news from the Farm? Sign up to receive our emails that come out late every Sunday evening. Tonight’s will include mid-month touch base on #bentarrowchallenge2018 , recipes, coupon codes and what we are celebrating this week!
Our homegrown ambrosia cantaloupes are available in the farm market! These smaller melons will surprise you with their deliciously sweet, juicy flavor and soft texture. You may be unfamiliar with this cantaloupe variety because they are very delicate fruits and difficult to grow on a large scale. We are fortunate to be able to grow them here on our farm and are excited to share them with you! Stop by today for a sample!
It’s National Farmers Market Week! And to celebrate I’ve brought some of every flower on the farm and they are waiting to greet you at the Historic Newburgh Farmers Market.
Bright bold colors and fresh scented greenery abound with bouquets made of lemon basil, Attar of Rose Scented Geranium, Zinnias, Celosia, Frosted Explosion grass and sunflowers of course!! Come down and join us and enjoy all that we have to offer.
Something really cool happened last week at the farmer’s market... we had two people stop by and share that they had seen what we were up to on social media and were driving through town or visiting family and decided to stop by the market and say “Hi!” These people were strangers until last week.
You guys. How neat is this?
When we set out on taking our products to market, we took a passion for gardening and made it a business. But, a funny thing happens when you do this... your passion becomes work.
And while Adam and I are still so passionate about the work we do with the farm and at the market, it’s just now in a little bit of a different light. (And, we don’t have much time for gardening for us anymore...!) But you taking the time out of your weekend to come say “We see you and love what you are doing” at the market?
It makes that harder stuff disappear.
This week is National Farmers Market week so to your local market or look one up if you are traveling. Tell the farmer thank you. Tell them that you see them. Do the same for the Market Master, Board of Directors, and all the volunteers.
It means so much. We all appreciate farmer’s market patrons so much and truly do love seeing you each week. (Even if we have to cut it short to chase after a two year old...!) So, if you have never been to Kokomo’s Market... let this be your invitation— whether you are local or not. Tomorrow, per usual, we will have lots of pork, chicken and eggs. And, there are a bunch of other great vendors and activities each week. But, it sounds like tomorrow will have lots of fun stuff going for #nationalfarmersmarketweek . Come say “Hi!” and enjoy your time at our great market. 💕☀️🌱🐣

I took some time for myself today. Spent all day outside at Starbucks on Mass Ave and then the World War Memorial. Had conversations with a couple strangers, had breakfast alone, worked out, and just sat around taking in my surroundings and views. This past year has thrown some challenging things my way and I took sometime to reflect on it all and clear my head. Sometimes we have to remember to sit back, relax, and take a deep breath. Today was a good day!
