Here are a few facts about him to remember his life. 🇮🇳He was born in Gwalior but his family belonged to a Bateshwar, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, on 25 December 1924. .
🇮🇳He was initially inclined to communism but decided to join RSS instead in 1939. .
🇮🇳He was sent to jail for 23 days for participating in the Quit India movement in 1942.
🇮🇳He quit law school to become an editor for Sangh's magazine 'Rashtradharma'. .
🇮🇳He staged a fast until death with his mentor Shyama Prasad Mookerji to protest a 1953 law that mandated a requirement for a permit to visit Kashmir. .
🇮🇳Nehru was very fond of Vajpayee, even though they were political rivals. He introduced him to foreign dignitaries and also predicted that he will be the PM one day. .
🇮🇳He won his first Lok Sabha election from Balrampur in 1957. 20 years later he was made the minister of external affairs in the Morarji Desai government. .
🇮🇳He was the first person to deliver a speech in Hindi at the United Nations. His speech was hailed by everyone. .
🇮🇳He has served in the Lok Sabha for 10 full terms between 1957 and 2009. .
🇮🇳He became the PM three times- for 13 days in 1996, for 13 months in 1998 and for a full term in 1999. .
🇮🇳He was someone who believed in secularism, expressed his patriotism through poems and admired the cultural heritage of India.
🇮🇳He was a big animal lover. He had many pet dogs and loved to take them on walks.
