So when I first started this online fitness program, it was solely because trying to make it to the gym was stressing me to the max. Then I would end in a cycle of self hate due to not going or not going as much as I thought I should.

Now I walk into my living room, turn on my TV and do my 20-45 min workout depending on which program I am doing. Yes, which program. Because there are over 700 workouts to choose from. 😱. It’s that simple.

But now this program has become so much more than just my workout routine. I have found a group of women who encourage, love on, pray for and hold each other accountable. It is an amazing thing to see. It really shows me how health is so much more than just fitness. You need health not only in your physical life but also emotionally, mentally and most importantly spiritually. And I love how we focus on all of those things within our team.

Also, I may not have a huge team underneath me , but it is such a joy to have the ones who  do view me as their “coach” to trust me in helping them reach a goal. It is such a honor and to hear the success stories bring me so much happiness. And not even weight loss, but stories of how they are sleeping better, have more energy, can play longer with their children, are viewing food differently , etc. I love it and I am so happy I get the opportunity to help encourage them along this journey.

So here’s to do my second workout of the day because yes I am behind. And yes I ate a lot of food at our Christmas family parties this weekend. But I’m okay. I’m just going to get it done,  catch up and tomorrow is a new day. Let’s do this. Also hubby is joining me on this one so yay!

#hammerandchisel Day 3/56: ISO Chisel Strength

Omgoodness, you guys.  My back muscles are so sore!! It’s not like I haven’t worked my back in the past months, but whatever new moves I’ve been doing have made my muscles wake up back there.  And let’s not forget my booty and hamstrings. 😬  I think it’s not going to be any better tomorrow. 🤣  Each move was three sets of 10 with a ten second hold, no rest.  My butt was seriously on fire with those split squats (not shown here, but in my stories). Not exactly my most favorite thing in the world. 🤣🤣 Tomorrow is a scheduled rest day, but I’m pushing the calendar all left and will push my rest day to Sunday.  So, tomorrow will be Hammer Speed, only 25 minutes long.  Maybe I’ll dance, too. 🤷🏻‍♀️. We shall see!

Well, here we go.  Round 3 of H&C began today.  And, it’s just as difficult as I remember. 🤪. I probably would have modified even if I had gone to the “dungeon” and had the bench at my disposal. 😬  I shared some of my modifications in my stories if you’re curious to see what I did without a bench.  I’ll continue to share my modifications as I go along if that’s something that interests you. 😊

I love watching the modifier in the workouts.
She sweats just as much as everyone else does. 
She never quit
She never gave up
She never did it was too hard
Or she can't finish

She keeps going!

When we get tired we just learn to rest.
Never give up on yourself

I hadn't intended on doing a new photo today for #transformationtuesday. But when I happened to grab this striped tank top and remembered it was the one from my 'day one' picture, I thought ...well, let's just see. 
Can I just say...I absolutely love my smile in today's picture! 😁 And, it's kind of neat that the person in the day one picture had no idea what changes were coming her way! 
Remembering that day, I was scared as hell about having to workout the next morning  and really angry with myself for getting so out of control. Little did I know I would be going from 'challenger' to 'coach' and making a business of something that fills my heart, earns me an income for the 'fun stuff' and has brought me incredible friendships.

In talking with people about exercising,  some responses are "I can't do what you are doing." Guess what? Sometimes, I can't do what the instructor wants me to do either.  I do what the modifier does. This exercise is supposed to be running lunges but because of fluid in my knee, I can't do the running part. I modify to what I can do and still get the workout in. 
Don't let the excuses get in the way,  you are more than your excuses!!! Be stronger than your excuses and kick them to the curb!! Every workout program has a person who modifies the exercises for you,  so anyone can do the exercises.  Can't hold 5 or 3 lb weights, no problem, your arms have weight to them!!! Let's do this, let's modify,  not modify and get exercising for a healthier you!!! Started #T25 today. Good thing, it’s only 25 mins, my life really can’t handle more than 30 mins for my workouts. Work is picking up therefore so is my overtime. .
Best thing, one of my best friends who just got cleared to get back to the workout grind after having a sweet baby girl is starting this with me. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE having someone to go through these programs day by day with me! It helps hold me accountable! And I know I’m doing the same for her! .
Now even though I feel like I’m going to die! Shaun T loves to jump... i get through it by turning on some music that really amps me up! Plus it’s fun to match my jumps with the beat! 🤣🤣 .

This is a new program for me and it alternates between Sweat and Sculpt routines. I've promised myself that I'll finish the program and I dont want to break my promise to myself. 💕

Scaling is NOT a bad thing: ever since my knee surgery I am very aware of my knees and the amount of volume I put into squatting.  The box squat is my staple to keep the hips moving and removing the pressure from my quads and there for removing the pressure from my knees (NOTE: a box squat is NOT a squat to a box, it is a wide stance squat with a deload / reload at the bottom) #Iscale #imodify #kneesurgery #boxsquat #traintotrainanotherday #westsidebarbell #conjugatenation

Don’t be fooled by my pictures of weights and resistance loops..I modify! 
I modify my workouts every day. 80% of my workout is modified and best of all I don’t have to think of ways of how to do it, it’s shown to me. 
I’ve had two back surgeries, I’ve broken both ankles, I’ve had knee surgery, I have flat feet and its been almost six months  since having my third c-section. 
I can no longer jump or run. Core work is hard, really hard for me. Lunges and squats can put a lot of pressure on my body. 
But if I don’t workout, I’m in pain. I’m in so much pain that some days it’s hard to get up off the floor, out of the bed, to stand straight. 
So I modify. I push myself when I can, and lay off when I should. Don’t think you can’t workout because you’re body has failed you, you are too old, you don’t have the range of motion..there is always something you can do and I promise you it will make you feel better. #dontstopmoving #imodify #fitmama #motivationmonday

Even with a bum left foot, I got my sweat on! 👣 There is NO SHAME in modifying, and that’s what I did whenever it hurt❗️But look at my sweaty face. I still worked hard! My Fitbit says I burned 300 calories‼️ So if you think you can’t do what I do because you aren’t in shape or you have an injury, NOTHING could be farther from the truth. 👊🏻 And you will never see progress if you don’t start‼️ If you don’t know where or how to start, message me. Last week when we were doing 3x10, I did them all on my toes, but the different rep patterns changes the way my muscles fatigue. This week, I modified!  Modifying moves to maintain proper form or to fit your fitness level is NOT a bad thing!  We have to get over the myth that modifying means you’re weak. I’d much rather modify and be safe so I don’t get injured than not & be in pain later.

FUEL YOUR BODY RIGHT!

The thing most people (including myself) don’t get is you have to give yourself the right fuel. They believe they either have to starve themselves or that there is some miracle shake, pill or wrap will turn them into their dream body overnight. 
It’s about the right amount of calories and WHERE you get your calories from. Just because the ONE and ONLY meal you ate today was 390 calorie McDonald’s McDouble, a 100 calorie bag of chips and a diet coke doesn’t mean you are going to lose the RIGHT weight. Sure fewer calories does cause a deficit in calories but there is VERY LITTLE nutrients that will repair your body and retain/build muscle.

Remember gouging your eyes out will make you lose weight but is that worth it to see a number on the scale?!? I have learned to eat to fuel my body not just to make it through a workout but to deal with LIFE today, tomorrow and years to come.  Part of that fueling is in the form of my daily shake.  I drink that one meal not for weight loss, not for the protein but because it is the quickest easiest way to get the nutrition I need.  It is a supplement. Supplements are important but they are just that SUPPLEMENTS to you eating REAL WHOLE food.

Throwback Thursday 😜 . The top video was on DAY THREE of the program I am testing 😊 . Today i didn’t have to modify as much during the cardio parts but i still modified on side planks bc of my left shoulder. It’s crazy how much I’ve improved over these 4 weeks. 😁

Autumn says that the #inchworms are a little break for us, but those are the hardest for me. Day9/80 #80dayobsession #booty.  My #booty was on fire during that #workout.  We did 10 reps 3 rounds and by that last round i thought I was going to die 😭😭😭😭. I may not have completed each rep, but I finished each round. Day 3 #80dayobsession #cardiocore is done and yes I took breaks and yes I modified, but you know what I didn't do.  I DIDN'T QUIT.  You have to push yourself with any #workout .. you may not be able to do 10 reps and only 2 reps, but that is okay because you didn't quit!! THREE YEARS AGO I couldn’t do a SINGLE tricep push-up from my KNEES. 👀👀

And here I am not only doing 15, but SEVEN of which were on my toes before dropping to my knees! 😜💪🏻

There is NO SHAME in modifying exercise moves to ENSURE that you are using proper form and technique! 😉😊

(Also I do take note 📝 that I need to focus on keeping my elbows in by my body there near the end...😉)

Working on my puddle💦 jumps and triple 🐍 in my new 👟! I rarely workout in just my sports bra. Too much jiggle and even alone it makes me self conscious. When I looked back at this picture to brag about the shoes Santa brought me (which feel like walking on clouds, btw) I thought about how hard I've been on myself lately. This year was filled with a lot of obstacles- stress of studying for my exam, heart palpitations with shortness of breath and all those trips to the doctor, and then my shoulder injury to finish off the year. 
I haven't been able to work my body this year the way that I have been in the past. And maybe that was meant to be. Maybe I needed to give my body a little break. But in that time, regardless of how busy, stressed, tired, or even hurt I was - I never stopped working! I worked around it. Maybe a little less intense. Maybe a lot less intense sometimes. But I still worked. And I still paid attention to what I ate. 
Seeing this I can see I'm not as lean or tight as I was this time last year but I have to cut myself some slack! I have a great foundation to build on for 2018 which is going to be my healthiest year yet! And, this is a reminder to me that just because things aren't ideal or as perfect as we plan them doesn't mean you give up on it totally. Where I am today is better than I was four years ago and is still better than where I would be if I had thrown my hands up and walked away. 
It's not always the most convenient lifestyle but it's worth it. 
I can't wait to see what my next calendar of challenges does with this foundation.

Yesterday's #workout was #cleanweek #cardio.. I love this #workout and love @megandaviesfitness  as a trainer.
