Time for @homebarawards June challenge submission, which this month’s theme is to drink like you give a fuck with low waste cocktails 🤙🏻
“BEARS. DRINK. BEETS.”
• 2.0 oz Mezcal Vago Ensamble en Barro
• 1.0 oz Beet Juice
• 1.0 oz Black Peppercorn Simple Syrup
• .75 oz Lemon Juice
• 1 egg white
Garnish with a Chioggia Beet
For this month’s submission of low waste cocktails I wanted to focus on ingredients that are simply grown. No factory to be made in, as little packaging as possible, and of the earth. With that I decided to just keep it as a one spirit drink and instead incorporate earthen flavors of the seasons produce!
Most of all though the focus is on the producer of this Mezcal Vago, Tío Rey. Rey is a mezcalero from the Oaxaca region of Mexico that is running off a palenque that was made from pieces of his father’s old still. Using water from a year-round stream that goes through the property he then uses earthen ovens before hand grinding his agave with wooden mallets, a family affair to get the job done! Using the trunk of a pine tree as one of his fermentation tanks and 50 liter clay stills they continue to bottle all their spirits by hand.
Mezcaleros like Tío Rey are why we should drink like we give a fuck. There should be a focus on supporting producers that make Mezcal in the traditional and sustainable practices that have been passed on for generations!

• 50ml Kiwi infused vodka
• 30ml Fresh Lemon Juice
• 30ml Lemon peel syrup (1:1)
• 2 dashes orange bitters
• 1 tbsp homemade dehydrated citrus peel blend
• 3 drops saline solution (20%)
• Soda water
Shake all ingredients but the soda in a shaker with ice. Double strain in a tall glass filled with ice and kiwi slices. Top off with soda water. Garnish with a dehydrated lemon wheel and lemon peel strips 🍋.

“Cashew on the Flip Side”
1.5 oz. @santateresarum Gran Reserva
.5 oz. Cashew infused Scarlet Ibis Rum
1 oz. Cashew Apple and Cashew Nut Syrup
.5 oz. @angosturahouse Amaro di Angostura
Dry Shake/WetShake/Double Strain into Large Coupe/Fresh Grated Nutmeg and Angostura Bitters for Garnish
I have wanted to make a cashew cocktail for some time, and I came up with the name months ago now. It’s finally come to fruition! The syrup is made just like Orgeat, but I subbed out some of the water for Cashew Apple concentrate. It added this delightful funkiness that really makes the cashew in the cocktail pop. If you’re looking for an after dinner night cap this is the one for you! (Unless you’re allergic to cashews.)
How do our mysterious Whiskey Lockers work, you ask?
Well, for the golden liquid lovers amongst us we have installed an entire locker wall dedicated to protecting the fine, rare and beautiful bottles of whiskey you purchase from us.
Upon the purchase of a bottle, patrons receive a golden card that they will simply present at the bar or to a waiter to access their crown jewels. Cherish your bottles tableside at your leisure or request us shake or stir them into delicious cocktails for you.
When you’re done, we’ll whisk them away for safe-keeping once more until your next visit.

Cheers to Summer! #vancouverisawesome#whatskarendrinking Makes one serving. I rimmed the glass with course salt. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ - 2 oz. @patron silver tequila. - 3/4 oz. Triple Sec. - 1/2 oz. Blue Curaçao. - 1 oz. fresh lime juice. Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into an ice filled glass.
This cocktail is a great low ABV pool side slammer made with one of my favs, @w32soju
2 oz. Hyssop Infused @w32soju, 1/2 oz. Apricot Liqueur, 1/2 oz. Peach Syrup, 3/4 oz. Lemon Juice, and 1 oz. Melon Juice
When it comes to 'homebar essentials', there's a countless amount of amazing suggestions to make.😍 A big part of the decision-making comes down to 1️⃣ how large you want your bar to be 2️⃣ what kind of budget you have and 3️⃣ the availability of certain products where you live.🌍 But there's definitely severaltypes of products' everyone remotely interested in mixology should acquire: a great place to start is 'The 12 Bottle Bar' 📖 a basic book on mixology that learned me SO much about the logical buildup of drinks with a limited amount of bottles in your cabinet 🍹.
Yesterday I did a story-poll on possible 'themed weeks' on Served By Soberon, and 'Three Ingredient Cocktails' was by far the most popular option, so... that's what I'll be preparing for you guys.❤️ That being said, I'm already going to share one of my favourite 'Three Ingredient Cocktails' right away: The 'Rum Manhattan'.🥃 This riff on the classic Manhattan is made with three products which are IMO at the same time some of thé essentiallest (🤔😂) 'homebar essentials': Aged Rum, Sweet Vermouth and Aromatic Bitters. You don't have to use the exact same products as I am, but I have found that a Jamaican rum 🇯🇲 and a higher quality Vermouth are key in a plethora of recipes...
