Breathtaking view (literally, considering the over 19k elevation) at the top of queen Kilimanjaro. Something I've never dreamed to achieve. Amazing things happen when you want to make your friend's dreams come true. Love you @sanita2020
So we are currently in Trujillo near Caceres. We are now heading back into Portugal to Lisbon then aim to follow the cost back to Spain then into France. We have highleted all the stops we have made or would like to make along the way. Our question is do you have any recommendations for the #southofspain , the stops are looking a tad on the thin side!? Thanks 😁
Since 1793, the #Louvre has housed one of the most important museums in Paris and in fact, in the world. And this is not just because da Vinci's Mona Lisa is showcased there along with the Venus de Milo and the Victory of Samothrace. In all, it features over 35,000 works of art.
Hardest hike with these girls Mary, Dessa and Ping. If I had known the level of difficulty, I would have opted for the cable car HAHA. I was not prepared for this 6km-uphill trek on a Saturday night! It wasn't just the near-vertical slopes (endless steep stairs); zig-zag trails passing around caves, temples and dark bushes; and limited night lights that made it difficult but the cold temperature that dropped from 20C to 13C. We started our climb at 3,000 ft around 7pm and reached 5,200 ft (North peak) at past 12 midnight carrying 3-4 kilos of backpack. I first estimated that the climb would take 2 hours but reality was 6 hours hahaha We intended to stay at the East summit on a private hostel for 2 nights but failed to climb higher than the North peak (lowest among the 5 peaks) soooo on our 1st night at 1 am, we stayed on a café and paid 50RMB/person. Cliché – once you start, the only way is up! There are no hostels operating between the base and the North peak (6km) so you cannot quit in the middle of the trek. Yes, the routes are paved but don’t expect it to be easy. At 930 am, we transferred to a cliff hostel a few steps away from the café as guests left for the morning trek. .
Fact: This night trek is not for the usual tourists (like us) but you’ll appreciate the summit more if you go by foot. There are 2 cable car stations in case you don’t want to walk (but where’s the fun?). .
This is another crazy adventure with these girls! .
Thank you to Ping for the free guide and getting that police escort out of the blue! HAHAHAHA [Yes, this is not a caption but a travel story]
