Pomegranate; the pretty red seed that could…I have a love affair with this pretty fruit. It’s sweet. It’s crunchy. It’s a pain in the bum to pit. Ya feel me on that last one? Luckily I came across the soak in water for an hour method a few years ago, when we were a family of four, living in our 700 square foot tiny Nashville, Tennessee duplex. I thought I hit the jackpot that day, frantically searching on google, how – to – de – seed – a – pomegranate – without – first – losing – my – mind.
Relax. That’s difficult for me to do, most days. Having a Nonverbal severely autistic babe who needs 24/7 care, makes me a worrier. I don’t sleep. I eat junk when I’m stressed out and anxiety ridden. Anyone else a stress eater? 🤦🏻♀️ He elopes. I sleep by my front door, literally. Life in this chapter is difficult. Relaxation is hard to come by for this mama of 4.
This little food blog of mine actually helps me to relax more, which was such a pleasant surprise when I first started creating. I get to sit in my bed every night, in the wee hours of the morning as my Little doesn’t sleep much, sandwiched between him and my 20 month old. I edit photos. I write down new recipe ideas in my bullet journal. Then I sit down to write a story for my blog that comes from the inner most depths of my heart. And I do all of it while I listen to my babies snoring peacefully. And friend, it truly is in THAT moment, usually at 3am, that I find I’m able to relax. Just for a moment.

12 steps to surviving Christmas....rubbish! !
There are 4 steps. .
Imma give you them. .
1) WATER *Before you eat this Christmas, drink water. Majority of the time you are thirsty. Not hungry *For every alcoholic bevie, drink 2 glasses of water *Water helps flush the toxins from your body and helps your skin glooooow ❇ .
2) Eat veggies most.
Every time you go to fill up your plate whether it’s your 1st or 5th plate...50% should be veggies. .
3 and 4...well I can’t give you everything 😉 .
But these rules and the other 2 apply to everyday life. .

We need to talk about FOOD! One because food is life (well let’s be honest it keeps us alive) and two because I want to talk about the transition to eating healthy. 🥗
Lots of people focus on weightloss when they should focus on being healthy. There is a reason counting calories is a thing of the past. This transition into healthy eating was not easy and in the beginning I was so obsessed with tracking foods to count macros that I actually developed a binge eating disorder.
I felt deprived and essentially wasn’t healthy. I needed a change and beachbody gave that to me. I didn’t have to track macros or calories anymore. I ended up trying foods I thought I hated, and now I love. (still hate avocado though🥑) And the best part is my overall healthy has done a complete 180. I have a good relationship with food and I actually get to eat more food than I expected. Under eating is a huge problem for lots of people. I’m no longer scared of food or veggies.

Hii and welcome to Get Baked With Syd 💕 This will be one of the rare times you’ll see my face because I’ll be posting food recipes and my favorite places to eat. I’ve always been a foodie and loved baking. My junior and senior year of high school is when I got serious about baking and would take my treats to school because I love the joy that baking brings. •
However, within the last few months (and past 3 years) I had a realty check when I began to have terrible stomach problems and learned I have something called “leaky gut.” Sounds gross, but it’s not and it’s curable with time. I got it due to stress which comes to no surprise for those who know the year I’ve had. 2018 has not been good to me, but one thing has always helped me through terrible times and that is baking. I will be sharing recipes that I love and am able to enjoy along with ones I just love to bake in general! Baking holds a place in my heart and I’m excited to be sharing my recipes along with others with you guys. I hope to post 2-3 times a week, but we shall see 🙈 Thank you for following and I can’t wait to see what I bake next!
I used to despise quinoa, as much I despise the mean girls of my teenage years past. I avoided it at all cost and would often roll my eyes at how smug it looked sitting there on that grocery shelf, staring back at me.
And honestly, I always thought it kinda tasted bitter. That is, until I started cooking it with only ONE, top secret ingredient (well, besides water.
