The prompt for @ampersandletteringlab #ampeduplettering Day 17 was: a lyric from a song / poem / piece of literature. One of the novelists dearest to my heart is Ann Patchett, and Bel Canto is the novel that introduced me to her. I can read her sentences over and over, just to feel them in my mouth and hear them in my ear. She is a gift.
So....#inktober2018 is here!!! Last year for #inktober2017 , my goal was to try new materials, tools, composition, and subject matter. I challenged my interpretation of the prompts and EXPLORED. At the end of it, I learned I enjoy more subjects than just humans, but I also found areas I could work on.
Enter 2018! This year I’m focusing on type and simplicity. For example, for Day 1, I initially wanted to add fangs and shooting venom. I pared it waaaaay down!
When plausible, I won’t sketch in pencil first. I’ll just go for it. I’m excited because I’ll be able to see my progress and improvement in an area of art that I consider to be a weak point.
Anyways, here is Day 1- #poisonous technically “venomous,” but whatevs. Look later today for last year’s drawing!
