starting my day opening up my heart to being filled with gratitude. gratitude for another opportunity to learn, to love and to grow. 🌱
this is a photo of my grandfathers wallet. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to meet him, but every year when my mother is putting up her Christmas tree and unpacking her boxes of ornaments we come across his wallet — every single year. Like I said I never met him, but the fact that this piece of him remains with us always reminds me to be grateful for my family and for the love we share.
No family is perfect and this caption is pretty heavy for an early Sunday morning, but this is just another way of holding myself accountable and reminding myself of all of the blessings I have in my life. Life is so short and life is so precious, so let’s vow to ourselves that we will try and be more grateful for the things we do have and less ungrateful for the things we don’t. ✨
I’m learning that healing happens in all kinds of ways. It doesn’t just take one form. It happens when writing, when reading, and when living and connecting with like minded people, but it also happens in the way I nourish my body. It happens in the love I put into preparing my meals and in the food I put into my body.
I’m claiming 2019 as my year of healing.🌱 Mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s time we decide to take our lives into our own hands and live these precious lives solely for US because WE deserve it. ✨
this meals magically came together after a successful grocery trip to Trader Joe’s. I have the ingredients listed in my highlight “en la Cocina” but if you haven’t checked it out here’s what this delicious plate is filled with!🍴
- 2 organically flour tortillas
- Homemade pico de Gallo • 1 tomato, 1 jalapeño, 1/4 of a sweet red onion, chopped fresh cilantro, and one half of a lime.
- and the meat is actually not meat. It’s 2 veggie burgers from traders joes seasoned and chopped to perfection! ✨
