A los que me han mandado mensajes preguntándome si ya no estoy corriendo, primero que nada les agradezco mucho el interés y les platico que SI sigo corriendo, nada más que en el gimnasio de la oficina - que no es un lugar que luzca particularmente bien en fotos- por eso no he subido nada, pero aquí en NY los fines se sale a correr 🙌🏼!
After waiting nearly two full weeks (except for one very over zealous and achy run ten days ago), I'm back to running! And I wore my marathon shirt to celebrate 🎉
The break was good and needed - my body was craving rest, which makes sense after a four month training cycle - and my mind could stop thinking about splits and miles.
I started getting antsy and wanting to run about four days ago, so I know I'm ready to come back, and not just doing it out of habit. Gotta run for joy, ya know?
Meet my Physio therapist Karlijn at @amstelfysio . This lady is the one who deserves that medal. After last year’s Amsterdam marathon i could barely bend my knee due to quad problems. After a couple of dry needling sessions I was slowly back to normal. Afterwards i broke my shoulder in June and she is still taking care of me the last 4 months and helps me out patiently. Lastly i was feeling my left shin, thought i was getting a shin split. She diagnosed my calf was the cause and suggested me to lower the heel drops. I went out with zero drops (Altra) and that changed everything. I am much powerful with my feet and keep on working on them constantly. Thank you Karlijn without you that medal and those 2 PBs on half& full marathon would not be existed. And if you see me rocking the trails, hitting the PBs on the roads, you will know why and where all started yo make sense. #runnersofinstagram#igrunners#fysioterapeut#fysio#fysiotherapie

Exciting news (for me, might possibly live to regret it) BUT I have signed up for my first ever marathon! I’ve been so inspired this past couple of months by people I know and people who I follow on here who have been running marathons that I couldn’t shake the thought in my head that I wanted to try and do one myself. So after going on about it, my husband got me an entry for my Christmas present. Now this might sound a bit daft and unromantic but last year I was on about getting into running and doing a 10k and he signed me up for the Hull 10k as my Christmas present. I was a bit 😬 at the time but it was hands down the best thing he has ever got for me (apart from maybe my 💍😂) as it helped me on my way of completely overhauling my health and lifestyle (in conjunction with @madeleychloe’s #4weekbodyblitz ) and I know I would never have got round to entering myself. I love running now and after some 10k races and a 10 mile race this year I wanted to go for it. So there you are. I might be crazy, training for my first ever marathon at the age of 40, but if not now then when? Can’t wait to get started in training to be honest! (More in stories if you like seeing awkward videos of someone talking 😝 Please be kind!)

Nya tights och reflexväst. Reflexvästen från Salzmann var riktigt dålig, måste sy dit ett band på bröstet för med lite sidvind så hängde hela västen på sniskan.
Tightsen var supersköna, Salomon Fast Wing löpartights, skin fit. Riktigt sköna och det kändes nästan som att springa naken 😁 inget som skavde eller satt åt för hårt eller störde på annat sätt, precis lagom varma nu, 7 grader ute. Dom är lite vida längs ned på smalbenet men det beror snarare på mina kycklingvader. 🙄 539:- gav jag men de skulle kostat 799:- men dom hade märkt fel i affären så jag fick dom för det priset. Schysst XXL.
Well it’s sadly been back to reality for us but the exciting part is that I completed my first interval speed workout in over a year!! Track Tuesday, say what?! 🙌 (I know it sounds hard to believe but it’s sadly true thanks to my injury saga.) Kept it conservative because, baby steps. Also, this is still a photo of Acadia because I have way too many where that came from and it’s way prettier than the dreadmill. 🏔

Coming off an all night flight with no sleep and a rather 13 mile overload last week, todays run was always going to be short.
As you might have guessed, I'm not in Perth. Any ideas based on this very landmark free image? (Answered in my stories but at least try work out the country first!). Winner gets a signed copy of the book I haven't written yet!

GILI MENO SUNSET 2
After a run round the north and through the centre of the island we headed to the beach for a beer to watch the sunset. Bali is due west from here (well behind Gili Trawangan in the foreground), and the 3,031m Mt Agung - the volcano that threatened to erupt on our last visit to Indonesia (it did erupt, just 2 weeks after we left) only becomes visible as the sun slips behind it. It’s an impressive site, and a reminder that we’re sat deep within the Pacific Ring Of Fire. Incidentally, Mt Rinjani - the bigger volcano (3,726m) on Lombok: the island we visit in 5 days’ time, is now smouldering and subject to an 18 month ban on visits to the rim. We do time our holidays well....😂😬
Ain’t much more to say really! Another sunrise run 🌅. Basically a guilt run following ALL of the food and no exercise yesterday 🥓 🍳🍔 🍟 🍿🍦🥤 might as well try and enjoy it 😅 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️.
In all ‘seriousness’ it is so nice to not have the pressure of time/pace/splits anymore just doing my own thang!
Data gather error today. All measurements where off. No idea what happened. Either the app #iSmoothrun messed up or my footpod #stryd did. Distance was 13.5 avg pace 4:59 and pwr. It would really suck if this happened during a race. Stryd had an update today so perhaps it has become more reliable now.
With a boulder on my shoulder feeling kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round. 🎵
I had a stress dream last night about this morning's run. In my dream I was at crazy party out of town. My friends were there, mingling with anonymous city councilmen. There was plentiful top shelf liquor and dancing and vandalism. Eventually the police came but still the party raged on. I was aware it was getting very late, and that I needed to get some sleep because I had a 10 mile run the next morning. But the party wouldn't stop and I couldn't leave. I began reworking my run schedule in my head, but a disembodied voice filled the room and told me I WOULD do the run, sleep or no sleep. OK then, matter resolved. Perhaps this training cycle is starting to mess with my psyche? Or maybe my psyche is telling me it's time for a kick ass party with elected officials. 🎵
With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing the calliope crashed to the ground.
Testing out the new Noxgear Tracer360 on my track workout this morning. Oooo so many colors! 😍. I figured since I’m doing a majority of my running in the dark that I should invest in some safety equipment. People definitely don’t have an issue seeing me in this. @noxgear_nation
Full of hope this morning 💙 Yesterday’s ART appointment went great. There was terms thrown around that I can’t remember 😂 but basically there’s weaknesses going on that’s causing things on my left side to collapse in. I’m also pushing off with my calf on my left and not w/ my glute max. Nothing is fixed yet, but I feel like I know more what’s going on. So, I can keep keep running and building... and I’ll have a few sessions close together the next week or so! So grateful for the people at @next.level.spine.and.sports.
Yesterday ran 3.17 @ 8:35 and felt good! Also hit the gym to do legs last night 👏🏼
