How stinkin’ CUTE are these? So far, the bookstore tree ornament collection includes American Girl dolls (not pictured because they’re currently on display on the tree in the downtown window), the ARE YOU MY MOTHER? book ornament gifted to me this year, and these new-to-me Winnie-the-Pooh ornaments found in a second-hand shop. What are your favorite book ornaments on your tree?
💕 This week I am so grateful for all of you in the bookstagram community! Many of the books I have been reading in the last month are because of the recommendations of my bookish friends here, and it has been wonderful!
FAMILY GAME NIGHT AND OTHER CATASTROPHES is one of those books. I can’t remember if it was @librarianmsg or @the_neverending_stack (or both) that shared this, but I added it to my list of library holds and finally read it yesterday. It’s a fantastic middle grade read! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Summary from the book:
“Seventh-grader Annabelle’s mother is a hoarder, and their whole house is full of canned goods, broken toys, fabric, and old newspapers—but when a pile of newspapers (organized by weather reports) falls on Annabelle’s younger sister Leslie and their mother is more concerned about the newspapers, it sets off a chain of events that brings their fix-it-all grandmother in and Annabelle realizes that if there is any hope for change she can not isolate herself and keep her family’s problems secret.”
I love that this book is realistic but also hopeful. It addresses mental health issues, but is also full of humor and typical tween angst. A great book for ages 10+.
This quote is from the 70s and I feel as though it’s more true now than it was then. I’m deleting Facebook for a while because it’s become such a negative space. I’ll still be on insta but limiting my time!
Anybody else totally thrown off by the fact Christmas day is only 10 days away?! Which means only 8 days until I will celebrate Christmas with my in-laws. 😲 Yep. Yep. Not ready. // Working on my #25infive readathon today. I've already completed 4 hrs today and I hope to do at least two more. I don't think I'll be hitting 25 hrs but hey, that's okay. It's still really fun. And I've got my @sjwonderlandz bookmarks to help me. ❤️ How's your Saturday reading going? 📚

It takes a level of trust to pick one of these out, I promise they are thoughtfully and lovingly selected 😘😇 #giftideas#bookstagram#queens#igreads
It is literally the best day back in the world of no classes. It was just a normal day, but then @lizgassman and @otherpress came through with surprise finished copies of WANDERER. If you didn’t see my last post about this book, this is a book you need to be on the lookout for come January! It’s simply amazing.
I’m way behind on the #25infive but the purpose to get us reading more so I’m working on that today (in between working on the study guide for my last final this semester). These are the two I’m reading. One I’m in love with and the other I’m not very impressed with so far lol
3/5 ⭐️ livin my best & most basic life! there are some totally fair critiques of rachel hollis’ advice (super white, super economically privileged), but it is refreshing to read about a woman trying to stay real, vulnerable, and connected to what matters most despite all the pressures put on us. happy lazy #booknerd saturday!!
I cannot get enough of these graphic novels! I’m learning lots of interesting details I never knew about the civil rights movement right along with the young listeners Rep. John Lewis speaks to in the book. The book is a narration on the morning of President Obama’s inauguration, telling two young boys visiting his office about his life and choices through a series of flashbacks. Even if you aren’t normally a fan of graphic novels I highly recommend you give this series a read! .
📚 What are some of the books on your 2019 tbr list?
#LeighBardugo 's #SixofCrows and #CrookedKingdom are both on my 2019 tbr! ☺ But I'll be reading the Grisha trilogy first because @bibliobanshee said so. 🤭 Have you read any of Bardugo's books? (no spoiler)
I hope you're having a fantastic weekend! ❤
