Basin Environmental Improvement Project Commission⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mining in the Silver Valley began in the late 1800s, and at one time acted as one of the largest sources of silver in the United States. The scale of mining in the region and mismanagement of mining waste resulted in significant pollution to the north and south forks of the Coeur d’Alene River.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the late 1900s the EPA began to designate the polluted areas as superfund sites to begin the process of healing the local environment. In response to concerns that local stakeholders would not be adequately represented, the Idaho Legislature established the Basin Environmental Improvement Project Commission which now includes commissioners from Idaho, as well as members of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and the state of Washington. Together these members of the BEIPC coordinate the revitalization of the Coeur d’Alene River and the Coeur d’Alene Basin with the EPA. In the time since the establishment of the BEIPC and the EPA Superfund sites, significant headways have been made in restoring our local waterways. Learn about the many improvements made over the last four decades in this presentation by Terry Harwood.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

a mid-december reflection on this chaotic year.
wow, i honestly have so much to say but not enough words to express it. this year has been full of highs and lows. i hit rock bottom, my lowest moment which led to many emotional breakdowns and moments of feeling hopeless. i lost myself while trying to fill the gaping hole in my chest. i watched my dad die in front of my eyes and there was nothing i could do to save him. i watched important people walk right out of my life and throw dirt in my eyes without giving any second thought. i’ve cried happy tears and cried sad tears. but most of all, i hit the highest, most energetic time of my life.. college. it has outweighed the bad things by a lot and filled my heart with love & a sense of belonging in a community i chose myself. i met new friends both in the dorms and in the greek system, gained so many beautiful sisters, became apart of not only one, but two greek families with many other branches, joined alpha gamma delta, moved to a new town, grew as a person, learned to trust the process, reached out to God and found comfort in my spirituality, learned some lessons the hard way, cherished those close to me, and most of all i took my dad’s advice and started to live my one and only life to the fullest. this time every year i reflect on what things went well and what things didn’t go so well. i remind myself that it’s okay to fail, it’s okay to feel lost or not all the way there, it’s okay to take time to grow personally. i’m kicking ass, and it feels fantastic. i’m trying my absolute best to balance my social life and my studies (though i’m still figuring it out) which has been a ride but i’ve met some of the coolest profs and nicest people at this university. i am forever grateful with the outcome of my first semester here at UI, it’s been one of the hardest but most rewarding times of my life. here’s to more laughs, memories, hardships, lessons, and personal growth 🥂
The interior details of this Meridian home is swoon-worthy. Wait until you see the master suite. Better yet, wait until you see the price; it’s equally as exciting. This one won’t stay on the market long. @alexa_youridahohomes
Very often we want to put ourselves and others into boxes, including our diets. But they don't exist. They are arbitrary limitations and classifications we give ourselves. So don't label all people who eat vegetables as vegetarians. Don't label all thin people as healthy. Don't label all overweight people as unhealthy. Bottom line, stop limiting yourself.
