We made it to this rock and had to turn back! The wind was so strong and cold! Ransom was a little trooper though and wanted to walk the whole way back! Andrew scooped up the big kids and ran back to the car. I tried carrying Ransom but he just screamed and kicked until I put him back down. #mrindependent Even though it was ice cold and we spent more time in the car than hiking, we had a blast!!!#icehike#roanmtn#giveupcontrol#pralineroselipsense#lipsforlovinon#familytime
Winter in Iceland brings early sunsets and long periods of twilight - this was taken at about 3pm on a December afternoon. I was midway through a short hike on one of the tongues of the Vatnajokull Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Europe and covers almost 1/10th of Iceland.
My favorite place on 🌍 I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Alaska dozens of times because of my job and each and every time I fall even more in love. Hiking Matanuska Glacier and doing some ice climbing (way harder than it looks!) was such an adventure. If anyone is traveling to Alaska soon- let me know. I’d love to share my favorite restaurants, tours, hidden gems, etc.! #alaska#alaskalife#alaskagirl
Our 5 day #itinerary for #Iceland was perfect in my opinion... Day 1:
Collect hire jeep in the morning and stop over at the blue lagoon. We stayed for a 3 hours and had lunch at lava restaurant. The lobster bisque and lamb were amazing!! We then drove down to #reykjavik in time for a "free" walking tour. The guide was funny and entertaining.
Dessert at Apotek and headed to bed - we stayed at Skuggi hotel which is a nice minimalist option.
Breakfast Brauo & Co which has amazing pastries
Then visited the cathedral and started our #goldencircle journey. The national park, #geiyser#tectonicplates#gullfoss waterfall.
Dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant and we headed to Hotel Vos. We watched the northern lights from a hot tub at the hotel and then saw them through the large windows in our room.
In the morning headed to a snowmobile experience, had a #fishandchips lunch at Mias Country Van then headed to #Seljalandsfoss for photos.
We had dinner at Ranga however I wouldn't recommend it.
Not many people know about this #secret however the Seljalandsfoss waterfall is stunning at night. Its lit up and one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen!
Headed to the #blackbeach#reynisfjara (careful here as there have been some deaths) then to our #iceclimb and #icehike experience which I highly recommend.
We then did the #abandondedplane hike - beware - this is a long hike and can be very windy so be prepared.
Headed to Vik for dinner at a burger and beer place and on the way back we were lucky enough to see the #northernlights .
Headed to our hotel where the northern lights were all out in full swing.
Breakfast at the hotel then headed to #bluelagoon for another taste of the lobster bisque before heading to the airport.
Day 27, El calafate, Patagonia, Argentina, Steps 17,906. What. A. Day. There are no words to describe the amazingness that was today, I took the pictures and yet looking back on them still can't believe I was actually here a few hours ago!
Our day started early (and -1°) with a bus ride though insanly vast and beautiful countryside to the national park, where we drove straight to the walkways up close to the south side of the glacier. After a couple of hours here, we took a boat to the north side where we strapped on our spikes and hiked up into the glacier itself. Turns out glaciers are not flat...like at all, so it was an hour and a half of steep trekking past awesome ice towers, lakes and giant holes in the floor (yes Paul tried to throw me in) to end with a well deserved whisky, mixed with ice from the floor. If that wasn't enough on the way back we got to go into an enormous natural ice cave! .
Honeymoon in Patagonia? Our most recent newlywed guests just shared some photos from their honeymoon with us. 💛 @andrev_89 & @mariasol_77 We wish you both a marriage full of adventure, love & happiness 🏔✨
