Its incredible what nature can do! This image is deceiving because it was well into the minus temperatures at the time. That frozen ice just caught my attention here!
Where is this you may ask? Definitely not in South Africa!

Repost from @vibrant.travels Repost from @quark_track Once the temperatures plunge below zero for a few days, one of the greatest winter treats here is to see Minnehaha Falls in its frozen state. The timing of its freeze-up varies each year, depending on when the first truly polar temperatures come through. It was on the earlier side this year it seems to me, and it was last year as well. It never freezes up in quite the same way ether, kind of like the variety amongst snowflakes. The particular conditions of that year put their signature on the details of the formations. And the formations continue to grow and evolve for a while after the initial freeze-up. You will also notice that off to the left side of the main icy cascade there is a big gap. Large sections of two thick columns have broken off and left that wide gap. The gap will refill with new columns, but the big broken chunks have tumbled down into the glen and remind everyone of the dangers of this beautiful place. Last year, a woman was seriously injured when a large chunk fell on her head while she was climbing into the back chamber. Yesterday, many people were climbing a route off to the far right (out of view in this image) to explore the frozen beauty of the back chamber. It is truly breathtaking back there and unlike anything else. I'll post a few more pics later today showing some of the amazing sights back there.

This table was frozen over on the banks of Lake Ontario in Canada! It was lodged down on the beach side, not quite sure how it got there but it made for an incredible sight. Just have a look at how all the melted ice had formed art on the sides. This is something spectacular that I had never seen before.

Pendulous ice in the Erebus Ice Tongue cave in Antarctica, backlit by lights we brought inside. The cave is actually a crevasse in a glacier that flows onto the sea ice off the Mt. Erebus volcano. Particular formation of ice stalagmites captured during the first months of winter 2018 in an old ex-military structure in Valbruna(UD, Italy).
This is something very particular that I have never found elsewhere, and the thing is also that the roof was all dry, nor a single drop of water.

Broken free from the nearby glacier, the icebergs floating in the lagoon slowly melt and make their way down to the Atlantic Ocean. This is their last stop at an amazingly beautiful black sand beach. They call it diamond beach.

I wanted to photograph blue ice formations from underneath a glacier when bumped into a hidden ice cave inside Fláajökull, flowing south off the massive Vatnajökull that takes up 8 percent of whole Iceland, the largest ice cap in Europe by volume. I know quite a few things when it comes to the dangers of glaciers and it definitely didn't seem like the brightest idea to climb inside this melting chiller separated into rooms by nasty crevasses... but the shades of blue were way too mesmerizing.

Dreaming myself back to last weekends bike riding. Knowing that I won't be able to bike in a while. To much work and other mustdos (also holiday, pity me...🤔) But it was cool last Saturday, alpacas and impressive ice formation plus good gang!

We have to take many alternative paths on chadar trek, when frozen ice starts melting or nature gets challenging. (Mostly, the possible alternatives are: 1-To climb nearby mountain to pass that melting zone. 2-To wait until nature welcomes you back.)
👆👆
This was the easiest climb so we were able to capture this scenic view, else in other conditions you can't even think of taking out your camera.
