We are all teachers and students at the same time. I’ve found it interesting to experience the different forms teachers come in. Some we are very intentional about seeking knowledge from, other teachers come disguised as disappointments, challenges and or surprising forks in our life’s path. I’m getting better at stepping back to smile and wonder, “what am I learning as I go through this experience?”
My children are the best teachers in reminding me what this whole thing is all about. Their sweet innocence and curiosity gently lead me back to my soul’s purpose and for that I will always be grateful. 😊

Let’s talk about gains 😉 while I never had a pancake bottom(thanks mom!) but I went through periods where I struggled with cellulite, and made me very self conscious. Buti has been huge in the fact that regardless of the position, standing, twisting, sitting... I don’t have cellulite anymore, and even if I did it wouldn’t ruin my day ! As you can see there have been volume gains as well because when I first had that Tattoo done, my butt did not crease into the dominos lol what I am super proud of is the back muscle gains! I have been feeling pretty down on myself lately, enjoying my practice but feeling sad about not liking the way I look when I practice... but like everything, that depression finally passed and I could finally get out of my own head to stop using my physical appearance to be currency for the value of my life. So the biggest gain that Yoga/buti has brought to my life is the revelation that sexiness is from within, beauty is everywhere within everyone, the trick is to stop hiding it. Being brave is not about being fearless, but it’s about being afraid and doing it anyway. I am so proud when I have the priveledge of watching students and fellow teachers own their individuality and just fall in love with themselves ❤️ #iambuti#butiyoga#yoga#selflove#jillianroseyoga#gains#strongwomen#yoga#homepractice

I know I have to tell myself it is just the beginning nothing is going to come easy. Keep working, trying and it will all fall into place. Have faith and don’t give up on your dreams.” •
A little over a year ago I barely had anyone coming to my classes, sometimes none at all. It’s been an amazing year from then to now. From 0 students to sold out classes, what a blessing. Even now I know it’s just the beginning. Thank you for coming along with me. I can’t wait to see where the next year and many more take me. I love teaching with every fiber of my heart so I appreciate every single one of you that have come to my classes. I still struggle sometimes with self doubt but I know that is not my truth. I still sometimes struggle with not being a “skinny yogi” but I know that is not what is important. What is important is sharing this practice and helping people. If I can do this anyone can, dive in head first for your dreams. Know your worth and only keep the people that believe in you and push you to be better close! 💗

In this tub, there was a 5-foot-long snake found on a Monday afternoon. In this tub, I fell onto my head while apparently sleepwalking back from the bathroom to bed. In this tub, I’ve taken one bath. These incidences are not related to one another except that I was thinking that it was nice to have a husband to wrangle up that snake, 🐍 help me out of the tub when I couldn’t see straight 🤤 and draw me a bath when I was cold. 💙 I got married when I was 35 (not for lack of trying to make that a reality sooner). I always told myself that I’d really appreciate it when I found my person. Still, it’s easy to forget what a miracle it is that any of us finds anyone in this world. A dad-gummed miracle. How often do you look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself props?
I recently watched this film about the female brain 🧠 and how we are created to pay attention to all the details so much more than men. We’re wired that way. Many times we find ourself looking in the mirror finding things wrong that we need to fix.
Now with filters, apps and so many other methods people are making themselves bonkers over trying to look perfect (sometimes ending up looking like a freaky cartoon character)
@bmvmnt in NYC they set reminders up on all the mirrors to reflect what we people really are...magical beings with infinite potential ⭐️ I truly believe we are a reflection of our thoughts as well as the vibes we surround ourself with. We are beautiful creatures created to be placed in this world right now. The more positivity and love we throw at ourselves and others the more we can co-create a mind blowing existence.
How much do I love this studio?
I've learned so much since I first started classes at @foundationsislandyoga, my home studio.
When I first started taking classes, my only experience was Vinyasa. I'd taken 1 Bikram class (elsewhere) & decided it wasn't for me. I was scared to death of any fitness class that involved inversions or *gasp* dancing. I thought 1 class per week was "enough." I shied away from the mirror & had never worked out shirtless. Worse, I had musical tastes that didn't include much hip hop or R&B. 😮
This yoga studio has become my home. My fellow students, family. I've fallen in love with ALL the flavors of yoga. I no longer have to "force" myself to work out. I want to work out. I'm here nearly every day of the week .. & when I'm not, I practice at home ... because I crave this practice. I've discovered a ton of new music. I've lost some stubborn weight (turns out this happens pretty effortlessly when you LOVE your workout). And I realized at a family wedding this summer ... I'm no longer so awkward about DANCE ... probably when my 70-something Aunt exclaimed, "Wow, you're a DANCER!"
So grateful for Foundations.
