Connecting reps is all about hitting correct positions to maximize power.

There's one aspect of the butterfly chest to bar that eludes athletes, and its absence screws up the circluar pattern- pushing away from the bar in front, in order to continue the circluar motion.

As your chin comes above the bar, think of pushing your chest forward, as if you were tracing a circle underneath the bar.
•••
This is going to allow you to continuously move through that circluar pattern, keeping rhythm, and generating power.
•••
WHERE YOU SEE PROBLEMS: Sometimes athletes find themselves pulling their chin above the bar, and immediately dropping straight down beneath the bar. This kills your circular motion, and cuts off all power.

“Trace” the full circle, and make sure you're moving correctly.

In the beginning of the year, I was really inconsistent. I still had SOME muscle tone because I really never stopped needing to use my shoulders lol.

Fast forward to today, and you can see a huge difference. This is why consistency is key! This is why having proper nutrition is key! It’s not just 80/20; it’s 100/100! Give your best effort in both your fitness AND nutrition!

Slowly but surely, I’m gaining my physique back. And it’s proving to be 1,000x better than before because I have the mindset to match it 💪

I was super excited to get back in the gym and lift heavier weights, but a flat tire stopped that. I ran over a huge nail 😭

So I made the most of it and did a home body weight workout with lots of squats, lunges, pushups and dips. Still kicked my butt. 
And I did a chunk of meal prep. Hell, most of you know I haven't always been active.

I never would have foreseen being able to consider myself an active individual when this picture was taken 8 years ago.

I was overweight. I was lazy. I was depressed. I was stuck. I lacked discipline.
.
When people make comments about me being skinny or active or, really, any comments or compliments on my physical self, I have to check myself.
.
My first instinct in the past has typically been to deny it or downplay where I have gotten myself in life.
.
But as I go along in this journey - as I find confidence within myself, my abilities, and my physical appearance - I have come to realize that I've always wanted this.
.
Not just the weight loss, while that is a large benefit.
.
But I've always wanted to find a way to inspire others. To help people. To be someone others can come to in hard times and be able to help them.
.
Who would have thought that the best way to do that is to do some deep fucking work on yourself?!
.
As I am going into this weekend of a 10k (strain permitting) and a family gathering, I find myself reflecting on where I have come.
.
Being happy and proud of the work I have put in, knowing that by praising where I am in no way means I am admitting to myself that this is as far as I go.
.
In fact, seeing the work I have done only better fuels me to see how much further I can go.

Here's to constant growth.

It's a compilation of 5 of the most basic exercises you can find, only missing glute bridges/hip thrusts which I believe belongs as a stable.

Squats
Deadlifts
Rows/Pulls
Presses, overhead & chest press

Those are your basics movements, those will bring you the most bang for your buck. Most calorie burn, most growth response, doesn't matter if you're trying to grow muscle or loose weight.

So before you start doing all the fancy and/or weird stuff you see on Instagram or the ripped guy/gal at the gym do. Master these.
🔸
There are many variations of each, some you can start with just bodyweight, like squats or push ups, body rows.
Any of these you can use bands, barbells, kettlebells or dumbbells.

Do them all, with good form, feel the muscles working. And when you get good at those then you can start supplementing with the fancy stuff.

It doesn't have to be complicated when you're starting out, learn the basics.

My #ThrowbackThursday  has a little message with it. 🔸 It's a compilation of 5 of the most basic exercises you can find, only missing glute bridges/hip thrusts which I believe belongs as a stable. 🔸 Squats Deadlifts Rows/Pulls Presses, overhead & chest press 🔸 Those are your basics movements, those will bring you the most bang for your buck. Most calorie burn, most growth response, doesn't matter if you're trying to grow muscle or loose weight. 🔸 So before you start doing all the fancy and/or weird stuff you see on Instagram or the ripped guy/gal at the gym do. Master these. 🔸 There are many variations of each, some you can start with just bodyweight, like squats or push ups, body rows. Any of these you can use bands, barbells, kettlebells or dumbbells. 🔸 Do them all, with good form, feel the muscles working. This past weekend when Paxton wasn’t feeling well, part of what he was fight was not being able to keep any food down. He has a very sensitive gag reflex and any type of drainage can cause him all sorts of issues.

After it went past 24 hours of fighting to keep food down, we talked with his doctor and she called in some nausea medication and told us to slowly try to continue to feed him. With the formula we use being a little thicker, we decided to go with something that we have used every time we’ve been in that situation.

Intra-Formance is a product made by @1stphorm that I normally use during any type of marathons, marathon training, or longer endurance workouts. In this case, it’s something we have given pax multiple times and it’s something he’s always been able to keep down.

It’s loaded with not only aminos and electrolytes, but carbohydrates as well. It mixes well, which is something we need due to the fact Pax is tube fed and we don’t want to use something that can/will clog up the feeding tube. That and it’s just a all around clean product that has always set well with him. After a full day of using Intra-Formance, along with plenty of water by itself, Pax woke up Sunday extremely hydrated (filling diapers left and right), which told us that he was flushing his system of whatever was causing him issues.

Well guess what I fail at something almost everyday, but I also succeed with something everyday. Take the wins and losses in life and celebrate the small victories and learn from the losses. Don’t let failure scare you and allow you to not try anything new again. Don’t let success stop you from working your butt off, because you can always get better.

Catching up on an awesome weekend! I came up to Columbus for the NPC Ohio State to expedite and see my client in her first Figure competition (and took 2nd in her classes!) and I had a blast! I got to work with an awesome team of people, and the show was excellent. I gained so much this weekend in lessons and friendship, and reminders of why I am so passionate about my sport. Oh, and lots of great conversation💕

In the left, I was fighting for a stage weight of 98lbs at age 18. I started lifting weight when I was 15 and 89 lbs. 
At 30, I actually don’t know what I weighed at my first Pro show in July (maybe 113). I’m proud of the quality I’ve layered on over these years...but it took time and patience.
I hope this encourages anyone who started on the thin side like I did!
