This painting was inspired by Calvin Miller’s “A Requiem for Love”, a poem about the creation & fall of Man. There is a chapter in which Eve asks Adam to bring her a coat after she first “stumbles”, to cover her shame. With forgiveness comes a freedom, and with that freedom, comes the opportunity to remove that coat.
I’ll be posting this on my Etsy in the next 24 hours 👀💛

It’s a gray day where I am, which means perfect light for painting by the window. I finally opened a set of Dr PH Martin’s Hydrus watercolors I’ve had sitting on the shelf for quite a while. I was going to swatch them all, but decided on some monochromatic drills instead. This is a good way to test how much you can stretch a color, control your lines, and play with some plant elements. By the way, this was all done with just two drops of the 11h Carbon Black, and I still have a bit left on my palette. I’ll let it dry there and see if it will re-wet later.
